4 Instructions for 3D Ornaments of Collection #1 Handy tips: A pair of tweezers, hemostats, or a tiny crochet hook can be extremely helpful when inserting the buttonettes into the eyelets. (Please see Pic 1 below for explanation of buttonette and eyelet for 3D ornaments.) Insert the tip of the hemostats or crochet hook into the eyelet, grasp the buttonette, and pull through. A stiletto could also be used to push the buttonette into the eyelet. The ornaments look and wear better when left fairly stiff. When the design is finished stitching, wash the design lightly so that some of the water soluble stabilizer stays in the design. It is better to hold the ornament gently and allow the water to flow through rather than working at or scrubbing the lace. If item becomes too limp to work with, dissolve scraps of AquaMesh, Aquafilm or Badgemaster in warm water and apply to the item to re-stiffen. Buttonette Eyelet Pic 1 3D Bell Ornaments - 1) Follow the General Freestanding Lace Guidelines (page 6) and stitch 6 Bell pieces per each Bell Ornament desired, see bell options below. a) For Medium 3D Bell use design OC00311 FSL Lace Medium Bell b) For Small 3D Bell use design OC00312 FSL Lace Small Bell 2) With 2 of the 6 stitched pieces, insert a buttonette of piece 1 into the eyelet of piece 2; continue until all buttonettes are inserted in the 6 eyelets on piece 2. 3) Continue step 2 until all 6 pieces are buttoned together; please note, to add a hanger to your ornament do not button both sides of piece 6. 4) To add a hanger to your ornament follow Hanging Your Ornament instructions (page 11). 5) To complete the ornament button 6 th piece into piece 1. 3D Classic Ornament 1) Follow the General Freestanding Lace Guidelines and Instructions (page 6) and stitch 6 Classic Ornament pieces design OC00305, per each 3D Classic Ornament desired. 2) With 2 of the 6 stitched pieces, insert a buttonette of piece 1 into the eyelet of piece 2; continue until all buttonettes are inserted in the 6 eyelets on piece 2. This will create a flat 5 pointed star. 3) Start with the short side of piece 1 and insert the 3 buttonettes into the 3 eyelets of piece 2. 4) Continue buttoning buttonettes into eyelets until all 5 pieces are buttoned together. 6 5) With remaining 5 stitched pieces repeat steps 2 through 4; this will create another flat 5 pointed star. 6) Place the 2 flat pointed stars wrong sides together. 7) To create 3D Star Ornament, using the buttonettes and eyelets along the edges of the 2 flat stars, insert the buttonettes into eyelets. As you continue to button the pieces together, the 2 centers will pop out for the sides to match up. 8) Thread ribbon through one of the points of the completed 3D star to hang. Long Side Short Side Pic 2 Picture Frame 1) Follow the General Freestanding Lace Guidelines and Instructions (page 6) and stitch 1 of design OC00309 FSL Lace Photo Frame Ornament Center Piece With. (Piece #1) 2) Follow the General Freestanding Lace Guidelines and stitch 2 of design OC00310 FSL Lace Photo Frame Ornament Front-Back pieces. (Pieces #2 and #3) 3) If you wish to add a photo to the ornament: a) Cut the photo to 3 X 3. b) Lay the photo on the appliquéd fabric at the center Piece #1. c) Insert each corner of the photo into one of the scalloped shaped cutouts (see pic 3 on page 5). 4) Lay Piece #1 on flat surface. 5) Center Piece #2 on top of Piece #1. a) Note Pieces #2 and #3 have 8 points with buttonettes at the ends and Piece #1 has eyelets around the edge (see pic 4on page 5). 6) Insert the buttonettes from Piece #2 into every other eyelet around edge on Piece #1. The front-back piece will bow out slightly for each buttonette to fit into the eyelets. 7) Once step 6 is complete, turn ornament over and center Piece #3 on top of ornament. 8) Insert the buttonettes from Piece #3 into the remaining eyelets of the ornament. As before, Piece #3 will need to bow out slightly for each buttonette to fit into the eyelets. 9) To add a hanger to Photo Frame Ornament, tie a piece of ribbon through one of the holes along the edge of the ornament, see photos on next page for example.
