3 GENERAL APPLIQUÉ AND FREESTANDING LACE GUIDELINES: SUPPLIES: Embroidery Thread: - Use the same thread i the bobbi as the eedle. - Suggested Threads: - Isacord Polyester Thread - Yemet Metallic Thread Needles: - Use a Orga 80/12 eedle. - A Orga 80/12 Titaium eedle is recommeded for exteded eedle life. Fabric: - 3 to 5 squares of cotto, cotto bled, or washable satis or satees. Stabilizer: - OESD AquaMesh or OESD BadgeMaster water-soluble stabilizer. HANDY HINTS: For stiffer lace: - Cut away excess stabilizer. - Remove remaiig stabilizer by risig uder warm ruig water. - DO NOT RINSE away all the stabilizer for a stiffer lace. However, do ote that the thread may appear a shade darker if stabilizer is ot removed completely. - If you happe to wash too much out, easily re-stiffe by dilutig some stabilizer scraps i water ad dippig the item i the solutio. For very soft lace: - Cut away excess stabilizer. - Remove remaiig stabilizer by risig uder warm ruig water util all traces of the stabilizer are goe. Note: If lace should become too limp to work with, dissolve scraps of AquaMesh i warm water ad apply to the lace. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Hoop two layers of OESD AquaMesh or oe layer of OESD BadgeMaster water-soluble stabilizer. Attach the hoop to the machie ad select the desig of your choice. Stitch the color amed the Placemet Stitch. See Photo 1 Remove the hoop from the machie. DO NOT remove the stabilizer from the hoop. Cut a rectagle of fabric slightly larger tha the stitchig i the hoop. Photo 1 OPTIONAL for reversible desig, cut two rectagles. Adhere wrog sides together with 101 Quilt Bastig Spray. Ceter the fabric right side up i the hoop over the stitched lies. Retur the hoop to the machie ad stitch Color 2 (the Cut Lie).

Trim the excess fabric of the (oe or two) layers of fabric from the outside of the stitched lies. See Photo 2 Retur the hoop to the machie ad fiish stitchig the desig. See Photo 3 Remove the hoop from the machie ad trim excess stabilizer from the desig. Rise away remaiig stabilizer ad allow it to dry. See Photo 4 TO USE PRE-CUT APPLIQUÉ SHAPES: Prit the Appliqué Patter provided. Roughly cut aroud appliqué shape. Lightly spray the wrog side of the paper with 101 Quilt Bastig Spray (temporary spray adhesive). Place the paper o the right side of the appliqué fabric ad cut out the appliqué shape. See Photo 5 With the paper still attached, lightly spray the wrog side of the fabric. Hoop two layers of OESD AquaMesh or oe layer of OESD BadgeMaster watersoluble stabilizer. Attach the hoop to the machie ad select the desig of your choice. Stitch the color amed the Placemet Stitch. See Photo 6 Place the wrog side of the appliqué piece over the Placemet Stitch i the hoop. See Photo 7 Photo 5 Photo 6
5 Carefully remove the paper patter from the top of the appliqué ad cotiue stitchig the desig. See Photo 8 Rise away remaiig stabilizer ad allow it to dry. See Photo 9 Photo 7 Photo 8 Photo 9 Appliqué Patter
