4 In the Hoop Goody Bag s Instructions Supplies Needed In the hoop appliqué scissors Isacord thread OESD Bobbin thread OESD Aqua Mesh stabilizer OESD StabilStick stabilizer Eyelet punch (optional) Paper goody bag Large eye tapestry needle 18" of ribbon to tie bag Fabric OESD embroidery collection #12603 In the Hoop Goody Bag s Photo 01 Photo 02 Photo Hoop two layers of OESD Aqua Mesh stabilizer. Photo Stitch the design according to the color chart. Use white bobbin thread unless noted with *Match Bobbin. 3. When *Match Bobbin is indicated by thread chart, wind a bobbin with the same thread color as used in the needle. 4. When indicated by the thread chart, stitch the placement stitch. Photo Cut a piece of fabric and a piece OESD StabilStick tear away slightly larger than the appliqué placement stitch. Photo Peel the release paper from the OESD StabilStick and place the adhesive side onto the wrong side of the appliqué fabric. The StabilStick will serve to stiffen and interface the appliqué fabric. Photos 04 & Lightly spray the back of the stabilizer (now applied to the back of the appliqué fabric) with temporary adhesive spray. Photo Place the appliqué fabric right side up onto the placement line stitched on the Aqua Mesh stabilizer. Photo Stitch the next color change, which will be a cut line. Photo Using a pair of in the hoop appliqué scissors, trim as close as possible to the cut line. (NOTE: that the cut line is a double line of stitching. The second line will secure the fabric, so it is safe to cut very close to the outermost line). Photo Repeat the process for all additional appliqué pieces in the bag topper. (Bag toppers each have at least two appliqué pieces.) Photo When indicated by the thread chart, wind a bobbin with the same color as the top thread to stitch the cover stitch. This will give a finished outer edge to the bag topper. Photo Remove the project from the hoop. Cut away the majority of the excess Aqua Mesh. 5 In the Hoop Goody Bag s Instructions 14. Rinse away the remaining Aqua Mesh stabilizer. Allow the Photo 13 project to air dry on a flat surface overnight or press dry. 15. Use a pair of sharp scissors or an eyelet punch to open the embroidered eyelets on the project. Photo Fill your goody bag first before attaching the topper. Fold down the top of the bag the desired amount. Photo Place the folded Goody Bag topper over the bag so the hinge rests on the fold you just created in the bag. Photo Thread your ribbon into your tapestry needle. Photo Starting from the front, thread the ribbon from one of the Photo 16 front eyelets through to the coordinating eyelet on the back piece, piercing the bag with the needle in the process. Photo Thread the ribbon from the opposite eyelet on the backside through to the coordinating eyelet on the front side, piercing the bag in the process. Photo Unthread the ribbon from the needle, and tie the loose ends of the ribbon together in a bow. Photos 19 & Depending on your bag topper choice, experiment with ribbon placement. You may prefer to tie the bow in the back of the bag for some projects, or alternately knots instead of a bow. You may even choose to use brads instead of ribbon to secure the topper to the bag through the eyelets.
