Catch up for $1 per block June 1, 2012-May 31, 2013 Available color choices: Christmas (top middle), Green Energy Batik (top right) & Cinnabar Batik (bottom right) Reserve your slots before they run out. Buck-A-Block is a program where you come in monthly and get two strips of fabric & block instructions for $1. This year each month s strips will make two blocks. It s fun to see how different the two blocks look as you reverse the fabric placement. The finished quilt is twin sized, 67 x 93. That s it! To join now is easy. To catch up, simply purchase all the blocks you ve missed for $1 each. This year the blocks use 2.5 Thangles and the finishing kit uses 2.0 Thangles and both are sold separately. We ve also purchased fabric for finishing kits to match. Kits are $87.99 each. Again, they are limited. Extra Block Choices cost $2 each month Early/Late fee is an extra $1 per block Friend pick up fee is an extra $1 per block

2 Dina s Cozy Cabin Quilts Class Information Online & Phone enrollment is accepted with credit or debit card. Class fee is due at time of registration. Without payment, your name will be placed on the waiting list Supply list available upon payment of class fee. It can be faxed, ed or mailed. Class supplies are 15% off. Please let the cashier know you are purchasing for a class. Please purchase your supplies prior to class day. We cannot guarantee we will have the supplies in stock on the day of class. If you need something ask. We can hold or order it for you. It takes 2 weeks for orders to ship to Alaska. Please plan accordingly. All cancellations must be made at least 10 days in advance. No refund or transfers will be given for late cancellations, or no shows. If class registration is below our minimum of 2, we will make every effort to fill the class. If the class must be cancelled, we will notify you 5 days in advance and refund your fee We will give you a reminder call about your upcoming class. Please be on time and bring all of your supplies. In consideration of the instructor and your fellow students, please do not bring children, pets, or cell phones to class. Purchases on the day(s) of your class are 15% off. Dina s Cozy Cabin Class Credit Card: What to bring to class Buy 5 classes and get credit for your 6 th We add up the class fees paid and divide by 5 for your credit. Your excitement and enthusiasm! Please review your supply list for each class and bring all of the requested items, plus the following: o Sewing Supplies: needles, thread, seam ripper, scissors for fabric and paper, extra full bobbins, your sewing machine (optional) o Quilting Supplies: rotary cutter, mat, ruler(s), notebooks, pencil, glue stick, marking pencils (you do not need to bring your large mats as the classroom has 2 and its better for those large mats to stay at home). Lunch or Snack: Microwave and refrigerator available. Or, several good restaurants are close at hand. We also have vending machines! 3 Events at Dina s Cozy Cabin Quilts Strip Club Teacher: Dina Pappas Join us and see what the fuss is with stripping! Learn tips, get ideas, find out about tools. Each month we feature a new Strip Club pattern designed to use 2 ½" strips. Each month it is something different and each month we offer a class following Strip Club on the featured project. We ll give you a presentation, a pattern, a little inspiration and a good time! No need to RSVP. Just come as you are! And remember to put "STRIP CLUB" on your calendar. Dare them to ask you about it! FREE Sat, February 9, Mar 9, Apr 13 & May pm Quilts of Valor Sewing Quilts of Valor are quilts made to honor & comfort the wounded. One of our projects is to take blocks from a Moda block challenge and create quilts with them. We look forward to seeing all the quilts from those blocks. Another way to serve is to work on your own projects. We donate our quilts both locally and to Alaskans who are stationed away from home. 4 Kids Classes at Dina s Cozy Cabin Quilts KIDS: Rail Fence Quilt This Rail Fence is the perfect quilt for kids and beginners. Students learn how to tear and cut fabric strips (rotary cutting is not taught in this class), sew strip sets to make blocks, use a template and how to cut and lay out blocks in a pattern. Lastly, they will learn to sew blocks together, add a border and finish by birthing and tying their quilt. Fee: $ 45 # 7430 Tues-Thur, March 12, 13 & 14 from 12:30-4:30pm KIDS: Roll It Up Pillowcase A perfect class for beginners and fun for the more experience young sewer, the Roll It Up pillowcase is fun and easy to create. This class covers sewing basics (threading machine, winding a bobbin, cutting and sewing accurate seams). The kid friendly pillowcase uses the burrito method resulting in a pillowcase with no exposed raw edges. It is easy to create with simple step-by-step photos to roll your own pillowcase in a jiffy! Fee: $ 25 # 2300 Mon, March 11 12:30-4:30pm Kids: Sew Easy Pajama Pants Every night feels like a slumber party when you are wearing a pair of pajama pants made from your favorite fabric. This is a great project to build on those newly learned sewing skills. You will learn how to trace and cut out a pattern, make a pocket, insert elastic in a casing and finish seams. 5 Beginner Classes at Dina s Cozy Cabin Quilts These classes teach you the basics or are VERY beginner friendly Quilting Basics Sampler This charming sampler quilt is ideal for beginner quilters. You will develop your basic quilt making skills (rotary cutting, sewing accurate ¼ seams, and pressing). You'll learn how to choose fabric and piece quilt blocks using half-square triangles, quartersquare triangles and flying geese units. You'll create a quilt top that has sashing with corner stones and borders. We will wrap up with an introduction to finishing techniques. Fee: $ 60 # 2303 Sun, April 7, 14, 21, 28 & May 5 2-5pm Raggy Layers Teacher: Carla Eisberg Rag quilt patterns make into great quilt gifts for anyone and are designed to be easy-to-assemble and quick-to-make. Nothing says love like a home-made gift. Almost always made from flannel, the ragged edges of the quilt fluff up the more the quilt is washed. Flannel also gets softer the more it is used and washed. 6 Animal Applique Teacher: Dina Pappas Here s a class to tame those animal appliqué patterns designed by Toni Whitney. Let s move step by step through these appliqué projects that may have spooked you in the past. I ve got some tips and hints to make you a winner. She designs amazing art quilts within the reach of the average quilter using appliqué techniques and Bali fabrics. We have several kits available to make your project a success. Each session offers an opportunity for quilters of all skill levels to practice techniques related to handwork hand appliqué, freezer paper appliqué, reverse appliqué, dimensional appliqué, broidery perse, Hawaiian appliqué, embroidery, perfect stems/circles and beadwork on fabric! Each session offers an occasion to share projects and ideas with the circle show and tell and always time to work on your latest project. So leave the machine at home and pack your needle and tread for stitching sharing and socializing with like-minded quilters. Each of the 21 Fifteen inch blocks are set on point. Blocks are assembled in the court house steps manner. One Jelly Roll is enough to make the Braids for sizes ranging from Baby to Kings size quilts. Braid in a Day contains no "set-in seams" and allows you to sew your quilt right away! Don t fret, you can turn that Barbie sized sweater into your new favorite pair of mittens! Have fun pairing your sweater with a contrasting fleece liner and voila, you are now the fashionista! 9 Dragonflies Teacher: Geri Wacker Dragonflies burst forth over brilliant colors that echo the beauty of their wings in nature. This quilt was designed to display an assortment of batik fabrics. The project combines traditional piecing methods and fusible web appliqué with open space for decorative quilting. Dragonflies Fabric Kit available in limited quantities. You will make two cuts, swap pieces in the stack, sew the rectangle back together, and square up the block. This pattern is for Advanced Beginners but everyone will enjoy this quilt. 10 Four Patch Shift Teacher: Margaret Smith Take a page from the best selling book, Skip the Borders. This modern quilt has no borders. Borderless quilts are not new, but the have enjoyed a resurgence within the last few years. Taking away the borders means that the quilt needs to have a strong structure and be able to support itself and stand-alone. The class will make a quilt of circles bordered with stems and more circles. 16 Strip-Smart Quilts These stunning quilts are easy enough for anyone to make. Strip-smart Quilts have fun intricate blocks made from one cut of a triangle ruler. Start with precut strips, fat quarters, or yardage to make strip sets. Cut the strip sets using the Creative Grids 90-degree Double- Strip Ruler (or another right-angle triangle ruler with appropriate markings) to create a mesmerizing design. This class uses the fuse and fold technique. You may be able to sew up to 85% fewer seams and have increased accuracy.
