Our family is all doing well, and keeping busy. There are lots of different workshops planned this quarter. Everything from serging up T-shirt dresses to an Anita Goodesign trunk show/workshop. And, don t miss the Christmas in July sale on the back for some good buys. We also have lots of new Christmas fabric coming in. Some of the collections we have kits made up, and they are listed in the kits section. Also, note that they are reconstructing the intersection of Pensyl Hollow Rd and Business 220. And so, Business 220 will be closed just after what used to be Heartland Hall and before Baker s Body Center. They are planning for this detour from June 24th until possibly Oct. 30th. So if you are coming from Bedford, just use I-99/new 220 instead of Business 220. We are also participating in the PA Row by Row Shop Hop this summer. There are 84 shops included, but you ll have to keep reading for more details on that. 2 Turning T-shirts Into Dresses for the Impoverished We are asking for your help to serge up these T-shirt dresses for little girls. We have them all cut out, ready to sew. And we will let you use our sergers. After they are sewn up, we re donating them to Christian Aid Ministries (CAM). CAM accepts any type of clothing that you wish to donate. We are looking for those who have some experience sewing, but you do not have to be an experienced serger user. Because, this could also be a class for you to become more comfortable with a serger. We are planning this as an all-day open sewing event. But we just ask that you call to reserve your seat, and let us know how long you plan to stay, because we have limited space and sergers. Tues., Aug. 19 9AM--8 PM Class fee: Free Beginner Sewists Club Here would be an excellent summer project for girls or anyone else that would love to be in on the fun of sewing. Sewing can be such a worthwhile hobby and it is a valuable lifetime skill. We have 4 different, easy projects to choose from. Each project has a variety of skills such as getting familiar with a sewing machine, using an iron, sewing on buttons, quilting, etc. For the pillowcase we will allow you to use our embroidery machines to monogram, and get an introduction to that. But Deb has an easier way that she really has fun with. This pattern is easy enough to be a perfect starter class for those who have never tried it. 1 Workshop Tues. Sept AM--? And what a perfect wall hanging to make a home in the wintertime seem cozy. We do have kits made up for this in country colors. It measures 22 x Workshops Thursday, Aug. 14, 21 Sept PM Fee:$35 Teacher: Michelle Martin Skill Level: Confident Beginner Christmas in July Anita Goodesign Workshop Hand-Stitched Christmas Corner Design These workshops are always so exciting. They come up with such fun ideas to try in the embroidery hoop. They are also sending us a trunk full of samples to give you new ideas and inspiration. Another big bonus is that they send us lots of design packs for these workshops that we can sell at special pricing exclusively for attendees. This projects demonstrates how easy it is to embroider on a corner without any fancy hooping or stabilizer tricks. This beautiful hand-stitched design looks like it was created using embroidery floss instead of thread, but is really 5-7 ply stitches using regular embroidery thread. The end result is a striking corner piece created fast and easy! You will get to participate in a hands-on embroidery team sewing. And everyone will get to take a completed linen napkin or placemat home. This design would also look pretty in the 4 corners of a table runner. 4 Mastery Class Schedule Sit and Sew Sessions These sessions are open to anyone who would like help with their project. Or to those who would like to socialize with other sewers. They are also intended for those of you who took a class at our store, and maybe weren t able to finish it in class. They are scheduled on Thurs. evening from 5-8 PM for a fee of $8. July 17, Aug, 28 Sept. 25 These classes are free to all who have purchased a machine from us. And you may come as often as you wish. Just call at least one day ahead to reserve your seat. When you come to class, please bring your machine and its accessories. How to import designs. How to realign after the bobbin runs all and more. You are also welcome to bring in quilt tops, and we can have a discussion on how to quilt them. Sat. Sept. 20, 2-5 PM Teacher: Michelle Martin Fee: $20 PA Row by Row Shop Hop This shop hop runs from July 1 to Sept. 2. There are 84 shops in PA participating in this fun excursion. Each shop has a row designed to match the theme Sew a Season. And as you go to any of the participating shops, you get their pattern free. The first person to finish a quilt using 8 different rows from shops wins 25 fat quarters. The first person to finish a project using our row wins 2 free charm packs. Here is our pattern.
