Part time students require a minimum of 6 credits. Schoarship avaiabiity is subject to change. To receive a schoarship, students must be accepted for admission to Northwest Iowa Community Coege. If the appicant has been out of high schoo for more than five years, their current NCC accumuative grade point average wi be considered first. If they do not have an NCC GPA, their high schoo GPA wi be used. Deadine: Submit a required forms to the Foundation Office (405D) by 4:30 p.m. on the schoarship deadine. 5 GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS President s Schoarship Fu Tuition 10 schoarships granted; Fu-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege President s Schoarship is to recognize academic exceence. Primary seection criteria wi be the appicant s high schoo academic record. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Graduate from a pubic or private high schoo within the ast 3 years. Preference given to students in the Coege district. Achieve a 3.25 grade point average based on a 4.0 scae. Maintain a minimum cumuative 3.0 grade point average; eigibiity sha be reviewed each semester. Initia enroment must be in the fa semester. The schoarship is credited toward tuition expenses for each semester/term of enroment not to exceed 24 months after initia enroment. Recipient is required to pay fees, purchase books, materias, suppies, etc. Recipient is ineigibe for NCC s Foundation or Trustees Schoarships. Compete a admission appication requirements and be enroed as a fu-time student at Northwest Iowa Community Coege. Submit a word typed essay that foows rues of composition and grammar. The appicant shoud discuss his/her academic background, other activities, educationa and career objectives, and any other factors the appicant beieves shoud be considered. Foundation Schoarship Haf Tuition 17 schoarships granted; Fu-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege Foundation Schoarship recognizes academic exceence. One haf-tuition schoarship wi be avaiabe for a graduate from each private or pubic high schoo in our community coege district. The schoarship is credited toward tuition expenses for each semester. Schoarship proceeds must be utiized within 24 months of the initia enroment date. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Graduate from a pubic or private high schoo within the ast 3 years. Preference given to students in the Coege district. Must rank in the upper one-third of their graduating cass or achieve a 3.0 cumuative grade point average. Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumuative grade point average. Initia enroment must be in the fa or spring semester. Submit a word typed essay that foows rues of composition and grammar. The appicant shoud discuss his/her academic background, other activities, educationa and career objectives, and any other factors the appicant beieves shoud be considered. Trustees Schoarship Appy by August 15, 2014 $500 Number of schoarships granted varies; Fu-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege Trustees Schoarship recognizes the achievement of area high schoo students. Successfu appicants wi receive $250 each semester or term not to exceed $500. Proceeds must be utiized within 24 months of the initia enroment date. Students receiving the Trustees Schoarship may aso appy for the Foundation Schoarship. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Must rank above the 50th percentie (composite score) on the Iowa Test of Educationa Deveopment (eeventh grade score), score 20 or above on the ACT test, or score at east a coege ready score on the high schoo equivaency exam. Must have graduated from high schoo or competed a high schoo equivaency exam in the ast three years. Must reside in the community coege district. Initia enroment must be in the fa or spring semester. Must maintain a 2.25 cumuative grade point average. ITED rank or ACT score must be on an officia transcript or verified by the High Schoo Guidance Counseor. A cumuative GPA of 2.0 is required for any NCC coursework taken prior to enroment. Next Step Schoarship Doar amount and number of schoarships varies; Fu-time students The Next Step Schoarships are for high schoo students who have obtained coege credits from NCC whie attending high schoo. The amount of the schoarship is dependent of number of coege credits and grade point average in those courses. GPA/Coege Credits Obtained in High Schoo credits $500 $1, credits $500 $1, & up credits $500 $2,000 Advanced Pacement courses or high schoo articuation courses do not count as NCC coege credit and wi not be considered in the tota number of earned coege credits. The student must enro fu-time in the year immediatey foowing high schoo graduation. Schoarship proceeds wi be divided between the fa and spring semesters and is not renewabe. Students receiving an NCC President s Schoarship are not eigibe for the Next Step Schoarship. Appicants must: Compete a schoarship appication. Submit their high schoo transcript. Submit an essay (not to exceed 100 words) answering the question: How wi this schoarship assist me with my next step toward reaching my coege educationa goas? 4

6 Border State Student Schoarship Appy by August 15, 2014 Doar amount varies; Fu or part-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege Border State Student Schoarship recognizes students who reside in the states of Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota and who wish to pursue post secondary education at Northwest Iowa Community Coege. This schoarship wi adjust tuition from out-of-state to the in-state rate. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Must be a high schoo graduate with a 2.0 cumuative grade point average or have competed the high schoo equivaency exam with a coege ready score. Must be accepted in a program at Northwest Iowa Community Coege. Programs not eigibe for this schoarship incude: Associate Degree Nursing, Extended Associate Degree Nursing, Practica Nursing, Extended Practica Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Powerine, and Powerine Technoogy. Initia enroment must be in the Fa or Spring semester. Must appy for this schoarship using the NCC Foundation Schoarship appication on the back page of this book or onine. *Car H. Rof Schoarship for Leaders Appy by November 1, $1,000 schoarship granted; Fu-time student Car H. Rof served as the sixth president of Northwest Iowa Community Coege from 1990 through Through his eadership, earning opportunities for students attending NCC were enhanced. The Car H. Rof Schoarship for Leaders recognizes students who possess the quaities that wi prepare them for eadership roes in the future. Proceeds wi be appied to the spring semester of study. Proceeds wi be used for tuition, fees, and books. One schoarship wi be awarded annuay to a student who meets the foowing criteria: Must have a 2.5 cumuative GPA from high schoo or coege. Must submit an essay, no more than 500 words, that identifies the eadership quaities they fee they currenty possess and how these quaities wi be of benefit to them as they pursue their educationa and career aspirations. *Wiiam G. Giddings Schoarship for Leaders Appy by November 1, $1,000 schoarship granted; Fu-time student Wiiam G. Giddings served as president of NCC from 2005 through During his tenure as president the Coege experienced substantia enroment growth. The purpose of the Wiiam G. Giddings Schoarship for Leaders is to recognize students who possess the quaities that wi prepare them for eadership roes today and into the future. Schoarship proceeds wi be utiized for tuition, fees, and/or books and appied to the spring semester foowing the appication process. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Must have a 2.5 cumuative GPA from high schoo or coege. Must submit an essay, no more than 500 words, that identifies the eadership quaities they fee they currenty possess and how these quaities wi be of benefit as they pursue their educationa and career aspirations. Entre Prep Schoarship Appy by August 15, 2014 $500 Number of schoarships granted varies; Fu-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege Foundation wi award a $500 schoarship to high schoo students in the Coege district who successfuy compete the Entre Prep Program coordinated through Northwest Iowa Community Coege. Appicants must be accepted as a fu time student at Northwest Iowa Community Coege and must have graduated from high schoo in the ast year. Students must appy for this schoarship using the NCC Foundation Schoarship appication on the back page of this book or onine. High schoo students are not eigibe for this award if they are dua enroed in JA or PSEO casses. They wi be eigibe for this schoarship if they choose to attend NCC as a fu-time student in the fa or spring semester after graduation from high schoo. *Student Government Association/ Foundation Schoarship Appy by May 16, 2014 Doar amount and number of schoarships granted varies; Fu-time students The Northwest Iowa Community Coege Student Government Association/Foundation Schoarship provides recognition to second-year students for academic achievement, exhibited eadership quaities, or contributions to a program and division. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Be enroed as a fu-time student with at east 1 semester competed at NCC during the previous year. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recommended that student is active in at east one cub or organization at NCC. Submit a typewritten narrative in which the appicant shoud discuss background, activities, educationa and career objectives, and why they beieve being invoved in student activities is beneficia to the coege experience. Any other factors the appicant beieves shoud be considered may aso be incuded. Submit one etter of recommendation from an NCC facuty member or administrator and one etter of recommendation from an Advisor of a cub or organization at NCC. The narrative and etters of recommendation must be received by the Foundation Office no ater than the deadine. Bein-Bank Exceptiona Student Taent Search (BESTS) Appy by August 15, 2014 Schoarship equivaent to one course of study The Bein-Bank Exceptiona Student Taent Search Schoarship is offered through the University of Iowa. This schoarship is awarded to seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students who have outstanding potentia for academic achievement and exhibit the abiity for meritorious contribution to society based on performance in the Bein-Bank Exceptiona Student Taent Search. The schoarship wi be utiized during the student s high schoo career. 5

7 *Bomgaars, Inc. Schoarship 1 $500 Schoarship; Fu-time student Bomgaars, Inc. is a retai chain operating in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota with 48 stores and over 1,000 empoyees. Bomgaars is making this schoarship avaiabe to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education. Proceeds wi be spit equay between the fa and spring semesters and wi be appied to tuition, fees, and books. Preference wi be given to Bomgaars empoyees and dependents of Bomgaars empoyees. Appicants must have a 3.0 cumuative high schoo GPA. *Business and Professiona Women of Iowa Foundation Schoarship Appy by March 31, 2014 $500 schoarship granted; Fu or part-time students The BPW/Iowa Foundation was estabished in 1988 for charitabe, educationa and scientific purposes. Since that time, the Educationa Schoarship Committee has awarded numerous schoarships to deserving women and men in order to hep them continue their higher education. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Be a resident of Iowa and a United States citizen. Has been out of the workforce and wants or needs to go back to work but needs additiona education. Competed high schoo five or more years ago. Competed at east one year in an institution of higher earning with satisfactory schoastic standing. Demonstrates financia need, schoastic abiity, eadership skis, and career goas. In addition to the forma appication, appicants must attach a copy of their transcripts aong with three etters of reference as to their character and need for this schoarship. The appicant does not need to be a member of Business and Professiona Women of Iowa (BPW/IA). Those interested in appying must contact the NCC Foundation Office for an appication. *CHS Foundation Two-Year Coege Schoarship On-going $1,000 schoarships granted; Fu or part-time students The purpose of the CHS Foundation Two-Year Coege Schoarship is to encourage students to pursue careers in production agricuture and agribusiness, promote empoyment and/or participation in agricuturabased cooperatives, and create an awareness of cooperative-based business in the agricutura industry. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: At the time of appication the student wi be in his or her first year of study at a two-year institution. The schoarship is intended for use during the second year of study. Students wi be studying an agricutura-reated major. Students are ony eigibe to win the schoarship once. Students must compete the entire appication form, avaiabe at The foowing must aso be attached to or incuded with the appication: a copy of transcripts from your first semester of coege; two compete reference forms; competed essay questions; academic advisor signature verifying appicant s year in schoo and GPA; and appicant signature. C-S Agrow Service Schoarship 1 $1,000 schoarship granted; Fu-time student C-S Agrow Service is an agricutura input suppy company with offices in Caumet and Granvie, Iowa. The C-S Agrow Service Schoarship is to support the achievement of students who choose to attend Northwest Iowa Community Coege. Schoarship proceeds wi be spit equay between the first and second semesters of study and wi be used for tuition, fees, and books. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Achieve a high schoo grade point average of 2.5. Submit a narrative, no more than 500 words, which identifies their desire to succeed in their chosen program of study at Northwest Iowa Community Coege. *Datate Schoarship Appy by January 29, 2014 Number and amount of schoarship varies; Fu or part-time students The Datate Schoars Foundation currenty offers four schoarships, targeting a variety of students across their Cient campuses, incuding Northwest Iowa Community Coege. Eigibiity and appications may be found onine at A appications must be submitted onine. Doars for Schoars Appy by August 15, 2014 Number and amount of schoarship varies; Fu-time students Northwest Iowa Community Coege is a Coegiate Partner of Citizens Schoarship Foundation of America and the Doars for Schoars famiy of community schoarship foundations. The student must have received a Doars for Schoars award from their oca Doars for Schoars chapter. NCC wi match that award up to $250 per recipient with a maximum of $3,000 for a matches per academic year. NCC has agreed that Doars for Schoars awards wi not adversey affect schoarship funding by NCC. *Eage Riders Schoarship 1 $500 schoarship granted; fu or part-time student The Eage Riders are Aerie or auxiiary members of Shedon Eages 2297 who share a passion for motorcyce feowship. This organization has a history of providing charitabe aid to community projects. An appicant having parent or cose reative affiiation with Eages wi be given preference. Schoarship proceeds wi be utiized for tuition, fees, and/or books and spit equay between the fa and spring semesters. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Be enroed in any academic program. Maintain a 2.5 or better GPA to retain the schoarship for the second semester. Need to demonstrate a financia need, determined by the Financia Aid office. Reside in the NCC service area. Be a High Schoo graduate however a high schoo equivaency is acceptabe. Submit a persona etter stating: o Why they are pursuing this schoarship and their need for it. o Ceary defining what their educationa goa is and why. Submit two etters of reference. Sources to consider are high schoo instructors or counseor, current or former empoyer, etc. Letters of reference shoud not be from direct famiy members. 6

8 *Frankin University Community Coege Aiance Onine Learning Schoarship Deadine Varies Number and amount of schoarships granted varies; Fu or part-time students Frankin University now offers students at NCC an Onine Learning Schoarship. The Community Coege Aiance Onine Learning Schoarship is a competitive schoarship avaiabe to students at partnering community coeges who have taken at east one distance education course. Students are not required to be enroed at Frankin University to receive the schoarship. Schoarships wi be appied towards tuition and books at the community coege. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Must currenty attend or have attended a partnering community coege. Must have taken at east one distance education cass at a partnering community coege. Must submit the schoarship appication by the pubished deadines. Must have a minimum average 3.0 cumuative GPA from a previous coeges or universities attended. Academic transcript(s) from current and other coeges must be attached to the appication. Must submit a typed essay with appication describing how distance education has positivey affected your ife. An appication is avaiabe on the Frankin University website at George & Ceo Kein Fund No deadine Number and amount of schoarships granted varies The George & Ceo Kein Fund was deveoped by George and his wife Ceo after George successfuy competed the high schoo equivaency series at the age of 74. The Keins woud ike to assist others in their educationa pursuits. Proceeds wi be used for testing fees. Appicants must be financiay restricted to access the high schoo equivaency test series and articuate their need in a one paragraph essay. Assistance for the written component can be obtained through the Learning Center. *Gordon R. Jurrens Memoria Schoarship Appy by November 1, $1,000 schoarship granted; Fu or part-time student The Gordon R. Jurrens Memoria Schoarship was estabished by the famiy of Gordon Jurrens to recognize the dedication of a student to succeed in one of the fieds Gordon was particuary fond of. Gordon vaued technica training because his professiona ife was buit on technica skis. He started as a weder at Sudenga Industries, George, IA, in 1958 and worked his way up to shop foreman. In 1975, he became a partner in Sudenga Industries (now Diversified Technoogies, Inc.) and remained an owner unti 2001 when he retired. Gordon served on the NCC Foundation Board from 1990 to Schoarship proceeds wi be appied to the spring semester and wi be used for tuition, fees, and books. Appicants must meet the foowing criteria: Be a registered student in good standing in Weding, Engineering Design, Design Technoogy, Administrative Secretaria, or Administrative Office Management program. Demonstrate a desire to succeed in the profession. Demonstrate good work habits as evauated by the instructiona staff. Maintain a good record of cass attendance. Have a sincere desire to seek empoyment in Iowa, especiay in northwest Iowa. Submit a paragraph expaining why the appicant chose to enter their particuar career fied and identify their career goas. 7 HTC Communications Schoarship 2 $500 schoarships granted; Fu-time students HTC Communications is a broadband provider with a history of quaity service in teephone, cabe TV, internet and ceuar phones, with headquarters in Hospers, Iowa. Their service area covers the communities of Hospers, Shedon, Ashton, and Sibey. The purpose of these schoarships is to encourage students from their service communities to pursue post-secondary education. Sid was unabe to attend high schoo because of Word War II. He served two years with the army in China. After miitary service, Sid returned to Shedon and competed his GED at NCC. He was proud to receive his honorary high schoo dipoma with the 2001 Shedon High Schoo graduating cass. Sid and Marie have been ifeong earners and have aways encouraged the pursuit of education.
