1 BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS Notice is hereby given that the Bridgewater Township Panning wi hod a pubic hearing on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Township Ha (10990 Cinton Road) for the purpose of receiving comments on proposed amendments to Section (Wireess Communication Faciities) of Ordinance No. 67 to update height, setback and other standards for private towers and antennae for amateur (HAM) radio, TV reception, private wireess Internet and simiar faciities. 2 ORDINANCE NO. 67- AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN. Pursuant to the authority vested in it by the Michigan Enabing Act, Pubic Act 110 of 2006, as amended, Bridgewater Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan ordains the foowing amendments to Section (Wireess Communication Faciities) of the Bridgewater Township Ordinance No. 67 to update the height, setback, and other standards and approva requirements for private towers/antennae for amateur (HAM) radio, TV reception, private wireess Internet, and simiar faciities. [Additions are shown in bue underined text, and deetions are shown in red strikethrough text] BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Section 11.38, subsection C (Type of Review Required) is hereby amended to revise the approva requirements for certain types of private towers and antennae under the Amateur Radio Antennae and Simiar Faciities category, as foows: Section Wireess Communication Faciities. C. Type of Review Required. Wireess communications faciities sha be reviewed in accordance with the foowing: Type of Wireess Communications Faciity NEW TOWERS AND ANTENNAE Construction, ateration or enargement of a wireess communication tower. Antenna(e) instaation on an existing principa buiding or accessory structure that incudes use of a ground equipment encosure area outside of the existing buiding or structure. Antenna(e) instaation on an existing principa buiding or accessory structure where a accessory equipment is instaed within the existing buiding or structure. EXISTING TOWERS Ateration or enargement of a wireess communication tower conforming to maximum height requirements that incudes an increase in the overa tower height by more than 20 feet or 10% of its origina height, whichever is greater. Coocation of new antennae on an existing tower conforming to maximum height requirements that incudes an increase in the overa tower height by more than 20 feet or 10% of its origina height, whichever is greater. Aso see Section 60.26F (Specia Provisions for Review of Certain Aterations and Coocations) Coocation of new antennae on an existing tower conforming to maximum height requirements and without increasing the overa tower height by more than 20 feet or 10% of its origina height, whichever is greater. Instaation of new ground equipment within an approved ground equipment buiding or encosure. SATELLITE DISH ANTENNAE Instaation of a sateite dish antenna with a diameter of ess than 1.5 meters. Required Review and Approva Panning Instaation of a sateite dish antenna with a diameter 1.5 meters or arger. AMATEUR RADIO ANTENNAE AND SIMILAR FACILITIES Instaation of an amateur radio transmission and or reception antenna or antenna structure up to a maximum height of feet. Instaation of any amateur radio transmission and or reception antenna or antenna structure, short wave faciity, contractor s business antenna structure, teevision reception antenna, wireess Internet antenna or simiar faciity that exceeds feet in height, or exceeds the maximum permitted height in the zoning district. 4 Type of Wireess Communications Faciity Instaation of a citizen band radio base station antenna structure, short wave faciity, contractor s business antenna structure, teevision reception antenna, or ] wireess Internet antenna for persona use, or simiar faciity exceeding 14 feet in height, up to the a maximum permitted height in the zoning district of 65.0 feet. Instaation of a citizen band radio base station antenna structure, short wave faciities, contractor s business antenna structure, amateur radio reception-ony antenna, teevision reception antenna, or wireess Internet antenna or simiar faciity up to a maximum height of 14 feet. Instaation of municipa and other faciities subject to federa or state preemption of oca authority. OTHER PROJECTS Repair, service or maintenance of an existing wireess communications faciity, provided that a work is in compiance with approved pans, permits and appicabe codes. Teecommunication faciities as defined by the METRO Act (P.A. 48 of 2002, as amended). Required Review and Approva Panning SECTION 2. Section 11.38, subsection L (Standards for Amateur Radio Antennae) is hereby retited and amended to revise the yard standards and imitation on the number of permitted amateur radio antennae on a ot, as foows: Section Wireess Communication Faciities. L. Standards for Amateur Radio Antennae and Simiar Faciities: Amateur radio antennae, short wave faciities, citizen band radio base station antennae, contractor s business antennae, teevision reception antennae, wireess Internet antennae, and simiar faciities sha be permitted in any zoning district, subject to approva per Section 11.38C (Type of Review Required) and the foowing standards: 1. Such antennae sha be accessory to a principa buiding or and use on the same ot, and sha be ocated in the rear yard area outside of any required yard setback area, and sha be imited to ots with adequate ot area to accommodate the minimum requirements of this subsection. 2. Amateur radio antennae sha be imited to ots with adequate ot area to accommodate the minimum requirements setback of this subsection. Bridgewater Township Ordinance Amendments Page 3

A maximum of one (1) amateur radio antenna sha be permitted per zoning ot, with a minimum setback from a ot boundaries equa to one hundred percent (100%) of its height A minimum setback from a ot boundaries sha be required equa to one hundred percent (100%) of the overa height of the faciity. For retractabe, teescoping, or tit-down antennae, the height and minimum required setback distance sha be equa to estabished by the height of the antenna structure in the down or retracted position. Such antennae sha be maintained in the down or retracted position when not in use. SECTION 3. A ordinances and amendments thereto that are in confict with this Ordinance are hereby repeaed. SECTION 4. Adopted by the Township Board of Trustees for Bridgewater Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, at a meeting of the Township Board hed on the day of, 20.
