1 DETAILED PLANNING APPLICATION EXPLAINED DETAILED APPLICATION Agrees the specifics of what will be built SIZE & APPEARANCE: building height dimensions building use materials PRIVATE OUTDOOR SPACE: type and size of balconies, gardens, entrances This is the fifth and final pre-planning exhibition for the Knight s Walk Estate. Since July 2016 the team have been preparing design material and sharing this with residents and neighbours on a regular basis. For more information on what design topics were addressed in Stages 1-3a please refer to the Key Decisions diagram. Detailed Application Submission A detailed planning application will be submitted to the Lambeth Planning Department in August The application sets the design in terms of the size, height, shape, materials, parking and landscaping. The application will also compare the scheme against policy in the London Plan, Lambeth Local plan and other guidance documents. The scheme is aiming to meet as many of these policy requirements as possible. OPEN SPACE: size of open space planting in communal and public spaces, parking locations LAYOUT: interior layouts including showing how furniture fits into the rooms If detailed planning permission is granted, the buildings must be built as agreed in the approval. Once the application is validated by the Planning Department, the statutory process of consultation of 28 days starts. This consultation is managed by the planning officer at Lambeth and will involve 3 ways of notifying people: 1. Notices printed and put up on lampposts and notice boards around the area. 2. Letters written to all homes on Knight s Walk and immediate neighbours to notify them of application and set out where the application materials can be viewed. 3. Any leaseholders or freeholders in the area of demolition will also receive a separate letter notifying them. The Application material will be available online, at the Council s offices and at No.15 Knight s Walk. It usually takes 13 weeks for an application of this size to be determined however, it may take longer depending upon when the planning committee dates fall. Once the application is submitted and validated the team will be in a position to confirm the decision timeline and will keep residents and stakeholders informed. PUBLIC EXHIBITION KNIGHT S WALK

2 R SCENARIO 2D : JULY 2016 RENFREW ROAD KEMPSFORD ROAD KNIGHT'SWALK GILMOUR SECTION HOUSE PLAY AREA 1-80 HURLEY HOUSE BUS STOP KENNINGTON LANE In November 2015 Lambeth s cabinet decided to go ahead with the partial redevelopment of Knight s Walk and Scenario 2D to provide more and better homes in the area. This agreed the demolition of 18 low rise homes with surrounding properties retained and up to 64 additional homes provided (a total of 82 new homes) subject to planning. The partial redevelopment would be phased, with phase 1, the north block ranging 4-6 storeys and phase 2, the south block to range 4-7 storeys.

3 KNIGHT S WALK LAYOUT : NOV 2016 Refinements were made to the buildings, in particular to Phase 2, the South Block which improved the daylight and sunlight conditions for the new homes and eliminated dangerous alleyways between the buildings and section house. The South Block was designed with a large private garden with views through from Knight s Walk. This development also introduced a new entrance to Knight s Walk from Renfrew road, coming in under the Phase 1, North Block.

Interiors of homes were developed to ensure living spaces were facing Knight s Walk and have a good sized balcony. The North Block car parking was reduced to 4 disabled parking bays and a larger green space for residents. NNING

The main entrances have been designed with better access to Kennington Lane and Renfrew Road and ground floor entrances have private outdoor spaces. The landscape was redesigned to ensure low maintenance and cycle parking has been moved out of the resident green spaces.
