The wood shop and tech lab tools require a safety class before you can use them on your own, but the rest of the tools you can use on your first visit. Not ready for a monthly membership just yet? Get a day pass to use the space for a day. It's just $10 for adults, $8 for teens, and $5 for kids. Or, better yet, you can get a day pass pack with 6 adult passes for $50 or 12 for $100, and enjoy perks like discounts on classes, merch, and membership. 6 TEXTILES/ LEATHER Sew a Market Tote This beginner class will teach you the ins and outs of machine sewing as you create a simple market tote bag, right in time for the summer farmer's markets. Max 8 Macrame Wall Art Macrame is making a huge comeback as people are learning to appreciate the beauty in this simple art. Make a truly unique piece of art. All materials provided. Max 20 Intro to Crochet $30 Come learn the tried and true craft of crochet in this one time intro class. You'll learn the difference between a variety of crochet stitches and patterns to begin to make your own project. Max 12 Weaving Wall Hanging Weft, warp, heddle, shuttle, shed. These weaving terms certainly sound interesting. If you'd like to learn the basic of weaving, this beginner class is for you. We'll be weaving a small tapestry with varied yarn types for some cool home decor. All materials provided. Max 20 Intro to Punch Needle Punch needle is as easy as coloring but with floss or wool thread and a special needle. All you need to do is punch the fabric and snip the threads you don t even have to tie a knot! Join us for this fun, easy, and addictive fiber art. Tassel Wall Decor Need a pop of color in your space? Make this super fun tassel and pom pom wall decor that will hang easily in any room for an instant trendy upgrade. Plus, with our tricks for making quick poms and tassels, you'll be popping color everywhere. Max 20 Shibori Style Fabric Dyeing Shibori is a traditional style of fabric dyeing with indigo, which creates beautifully simple patterns. You'll learn some basic methods and make your own shibori dyed tea towel, just in time for summer hosting. Max 12 Intro to Leather Craft $30 Leather crafting is super easy and fun. In this class you'll be able to choose a quick leather project or two as you cut, punch, stamp, and stitch. Max 20 Needle Felting $30 Did you know you can shape almost anything from a bit of wool and a needle? Learn the craft of needle felting in this fun, one time class where you can sculpt a cute, wool creature. Max 12. Embroider a patch $25 Embroidery is as simple as drawing with thread. 7 CERAMICS Wheel Throwing 101 3/9, 3/23, 4/13, 4/27 or OR 6pm $40 This class will give you the all the basic skills to make pottery on the wheel. Learn to center, lift, and form a mug or bowl in this class. Includes 3 lbs of clay, glaze and firing. Max 6 You will have the option to sign up for the 102 class or a follow-up private lesson when you register. In the 102 class, you'll learn to trim and add handles. Pottery Wheel for Kids 3/16, 4/6, or OR 4pm $30 Geared towards kids 6-12, this one time class will teach all the basic skills to make pottery on the wheel. Students will create a mug or bowl in this class. Includes clay, glaze, and firing. Max 6 Hand Build a Mug $30 Create a custom mug by hand. No previous skills required and great for all ages. Class includes clay, instruction, glaze, and firing. This is made with an easy slab building technique. Max 20 Mini Pottery Learn to create pottery in miniature on the wheel. You'll be able to make a small set of mini pots. No previous experience required. Class includes instruction, clay, glaze, and firing. Max 6 Polymer Clay Sculpting 3/29 or $30 Polymer clay is an easy to use medium that can be fired and taken home the same day. With its many colors and versatility, you'll learn how to sculpt it into a cool creature and love it as a new hobby. Coil Made Vase Learn to turn clay into a vase with this one time coil building class. Includes all clay, glaze, and firing. Max 20 Did you know? You can do pottery on your own here with a day pass or membership. Our pottery wheels, hand building tools, slab roller, and more are all open to public use when not in use for classes. 4 Week Pottery Course Wed. Session starts 3/20 Thurs. Session starts $120 Take this 4 week course to learn not only how to make pottery on the wheel, but also how to wedge and prep the clay, create different forms, how to trim your pieces, add handles and more. You'll create a few pieces from the class and learn a lot more. All clay, glaze and firing included. Only 3 spots per session Clay Moon Phases Mobile $25 Some art is best simple. And that's what we'll do with this hand made white clay moon mobile. Use it as wall decor or hang it from above. You can lasso the moon. Class includes instruction and all materials. Max 20 Day passes are $10 for adults, $8 for teens and $5 for kids 12 and under. Clay is $1.50/lb and glaze is $3/piece or $1 for members. You can also drop off pottery to be fired with a day pass. Memberships are monthly and start at just $25/mo for students and seniors. More info on page 2. *NOTE: All pottery will need to dry thoroughly before it can be fired in the kiln. Expect 10+ days before you can pick up the finished piece. Pottery made on the wheel will need to be glazed after being fired once. All other hand built projects can be glazed the same day. Max 20 Calligraphy $30 Step up your lettering skills with our calligraphy class. We'll provide the paper, the pens, nibs, ink, and markers. C O M Hand Lettering Intro $30 Learn basic hand lettering techniques to start illustrating quotes beautifully in no time. This class covers more about font styles and how to create and mix them. Max 20 Van Gogh Style Painting You'll learn about Van Gogh's impasto technique and be able to make your own unique painting emulating his style. Impressionist paintings like this are great for all ages and levels of experience. Max 20 Pour Painting 3/22 or Try acrylic pour painting techniques like you've seen in all those YouTube videos. This addictively fun technique is so easy, anyone can try it. Make two matching canvases or one canvas and a set of marbled coasters. Paintings are picked up the next day. Max 12 Abstract Watercolor Message Board 6pm $25 Learn to use watercolors in a few cool techniques to make an abstract piece of art. We'll frame it to make it a message board you can customize with quotes, to do lists, or maybe a menu. Intro to Block Printing Learn to design, carve and stamp your own blocks for printing. We'll use these blocks to print on a tea towel. You'll take both the towel and stamp home after class. Max 12 Bob Ross Style Oil Painting Explore the basics of oil painting using the tricks Bob used to make happy trees and majestic mountains, You'll be glad you did. 9 TECH / Tech Lab 101 or $40 Come learn about all the equipment in our tech lab in one session. This includes the 3D printer, laser cutter, CNC machine, and vinyl cutter. You'll learn about how to run the machines, as well the software they use. Max 5 Vinyl Cutter + Heat Press $30 Learn to use our vinyl cutter and heat press to turn almost any design into a sweet t-shirt design using heat transfer vinyl. This class is a prerequisite to using these machines on your own. If you have a laptop and plain t-shirt, bring them. We provide the instruction and heat transfer vinyl. Max 12 Laser Cutter Intro $25 Learn how to use the laser cutter to cut and engrave your own designs in things like wood, acrylic, glass and leather. This is a safety and basic use class so you can use the laser cutter later for your own projects. Max 5 WOOD Woodshop Safety and Basic Use or 5/25 at 2pm or by appt. $25 If you want to start working with the wood shop at MAKE SOUTH BEND, this is a prerequisite course. In the class, you'll be introduced to the different wood working tools and equipment in our shop and how to use them safely. Instruction on the wood lathe is not covered in the basic class. Max 5. Photo Transfers to Wood 6pm $25 You've seen this all over Pinterest, now learn how to make your own! You'll send us the picture, and we'll provide the rest. Learn how to transfer your pictures to wooden backgrounds. Makes the perfect gift. Monthly Potluck Nights MISC. 2nd Join our monthly hangout + potluck to meet other makers, enjoy good company and food. We don't always get to work together, so we have a monthly hang out, open to all. Sushi Making w/ Michelle 4/5 or In this class, you'll learn the skills to start making your own incredible sushi rolls. 10 METAL / GLASS Stained Glass Want to learn stained glass techniques, but never had the chance or the tools? Well, don't worry anymore. You'll get all the basic skills needed for stained glass work as you complete a small project. You can also drop in to make a scrap stained glass piece anytime with a day pass. Class options are: Stained Glass Mobile $45, Max 12 Create an eye catching glass mobile and enjoy as light and color dance in the daylight. 3 Hrs. Soldered Glass Terrarium $45, Max 12 Use glass to create a three dimensional terrarium for your tiny plants. Clear glass lets you enjoy the plants within. Plant included. 2 Hrs Glass Cactus Sculpture 4/12 or $35, Cut and create a glass cactus sculpture to add to any window planter or have it stand alone on your desk. 2 hrs, Max 12 Scrap Stained Glass $35 For a faster stained glass project, sign up to make an abstract sun catcher with pre-cut scrap glass in assorted sizes, shapes and colors. 2 hrs, max 12. Sun Catcher $45, Max 12 Cut glass to match a pattern for a small sun catcher in an art deco, Tiffany style. 3 Hrs. Melting Glass Bottles 3/8 or Learn to upcycle old wine bottles and other glass by slumping or melting it down in a kiln. Bring an empty glass bottle of your own to prep for slumping in the kiln as we enjoy some light refreshments. Glass Bead Making $45 Join us in a small class setting to learn the basics of glass bead making with a torch, also called lamp working. You'll create a small set of beads utilizing a few different techniques, including changing colors, adding dots and stripes. Max 6 Glass Flamework Sculpting 3/9, 3/23 or $45 Learn to sculpt in glass with this intro to flamework class. Each session will offer a different project you can make and take home, so sign up for one or more dates to get started. Max 4 Fused Glass Pendants $45 Fused glass is easy to learn. Just cut and set the glass, and let the kiln do the rest. Make 3 small pendants in this class, great for gifts. All materials included. Fused pendants will be ready for pick the day after class. 11 Stamped Statement Rings 3/30 or Make your own custom stamped statement rings in this class. Learn to cut, hammer, stamp, saw and shape a bit of soft metal to make a set of 3 rings. Max 12 Metal + Ink Jewelry $35 Learn some basic metal smithing to shape and texture sheet metal into a set of pendants you can use for a necklace and earrings. Plus, you'll learn to add color, seal and finish your metal jewelry. No prior experience needed. Just come prepared to get creative. Max 12 Wind Chimes Let's welcome spring with lots of noise! Come make your own wind chimes in this class that teaches you to work with sheet metal, pipes, and wood. Max 12 Stone Setting $40 Once you learn the techniques for stone setting in this class, you'll be able to create your own custom bezels to set any size or shape cabochon, or flat backed stones. Included in the class are all materials and your pick of a semi precious cabochon for setting. We will use a torch to solder everything together and create a one of a kind pendant or ring. Max 12 Woven Copper Ring $25 Turn pure copper wire into a unique ring that combines the idea of stacking rings with weaving. Learn to do soft soldering with a jeweler's torch and polish this ring to shine. Max 12 Wire Wrapped Bird Nest Ring $25 Celebrate spring and make a bird nest ring as you learn to work with wire of different types and gauges. No prior skill required. Nestled in the middle of the nest will be three semi precious stone "eggs" Max 12 Silver Stacking Rings $40 Start with sterling silver wire and learn to cut, shape, solder and texture it to create simply beautiful stacking rings.
