Get Inspired Raku Workshop with Nancy Jefferson LeMoyne s Holiday Studio Art course catalog offers you a variety of exciting courses in the visual arts. Classes begin the week of November 7, and vary in length and time depending on the course. Limited space is available and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes are small to ensure one-on-one instruction. Register early to ensure a space!

2 General Information Materials Classes specifically labeled for kids and teens include the cost of all materials unless otherwise stated. Students in adult studio art courses will be provided with a materials list via prior to the first class meeting or at the first class meeting, depending on the course. Please do not buy materials until you have received confirmation that you are officially enrolled and that your class has filled. Become a Member We invite you to become a member of LeMoyne and to participate in our many activities. LeMoyne is maintained in part through its membership program. As a member, you can register early for studio art courses. In addition, you have the opportunity to take art courses at reduced costs, send your children to Summer ArtCamp or Teen Foundations for a lower fee, receive discounts in our gallery shop, and visit all gallery exhibitions and our garden free of charge. You will automatically receive notification of class catalogs, exhibition announcements, our monthly newsletter, and notices of openings and special events. Volunteer One of the best ways to get involved at LeMoyne is to VOLUNTEER! Whether you are a high school student looking to get hours for college scholarships, a recent retiree looking for a way to get involved in the community, or if you simply want to further the cause for art education, LeMoyne is your place! Art for All Scholarship Information Art for All, LeMoyne s scholarship program, seeks to make studio art and ArtCamp experiences available to interested students who demonstrate financial need. For a scholarship application form or to donate to the Art for All program, call (850) DELIVERY We are delivering art activities and demonstrations for groups of 15 children or more. That s right, we will bring the art to you! This is a great idea for schools, day-cares, and homeschoolers as well as after-school programs. We can tailor the activity to the needs and wants of the group. Choose from painting, drawing, collage, clay, and more. Prices vary depending on the activity and details. Join us as we create unique art projects perfect for gifts for family and loved ones. Projects will vary in medium, but by the end of the workshop you will have a variety of small gifts to give just in time for the holidays. Workshops Learn to knit Instructor, Chelsea Fox Thursday, November 10th & 17th 6-8 p.m., Studio A Knitting has provided a portable, clean, and versatile craft for centuries. The possibilities and directions are endless. The Holidays are the perfect time to begin your journey as a knitter, providing a calming activity with practical uses. In this two-week class students will complete a project that will encompass all the foundational techniques of knitting, which will carry through to countless projects thereafter. Materials purchased outside of class: 100g worsted weight yarn, preferably wool (not fuzzy or textured, light color); size 8 or 9 straight or circular needles, any length. Felted Clutch Workshop Instructor, Chelsea Fox Thursday, December 8th & 15th 6-8 p.m., Studio A This class will explore two felting techniques within the context of a small knitted bag. Machine felting creates a thick, sturdy fabric perfect for bags, and creates the ideal canvas for free-form needle felted designs. Students must know how to knit prior to class, however beginning knitters are welcome! Materials purchased outside of class: 200g 100% WOOL yarn; Size circular needle; Size 11 spare needle; Large crochet hook (around size H); Waste yarn; Felting needle;wool roving (various colors) Holiday ornaments Instructor, Kira Petit Thursday-Friday December 1-2nd 6-7:30 p.m., Studio A $25 Members, $30 Non-Members Make your own ornament for the holiday season using cookie cutters, designs, and your very own creativity! You will make the ornaments the first night and the instructor will take them home that night to bake. Day two will be focused on decortating your ornament with paint, beads, buttons and other mixed media. These ornaments make perfect gifts for family members, ALL AGES WELCOME! Intro to sculpting Instructor, Michael West Saturdays, November 12th & 19th & December 3rd 12-4 p.m. last class p.m., Studio D $55 Members, $65 Non-Members This is a true beginners sculpting workshop. You will learn to carve out a design into different materials to create a beautiful and unique sculpture. Don t miss the chance to work with Michael West and learn this beautiful art form. This is not offered anywhere else in town! Materials fee $15. mini Paint Your PeT Instructor, Diane Dyal Saturday, December 17th noon, Studio B $35 Members, $40 Non-Members This is a course for any skill level! You will focus on painting with acrylics on mini canvases that include easels. Attention to detail will be important. Technique and color theory will be explained. You will paint your pet on 3 mini canvases and bring at least one or more picture of the animal s face. Classes will include demonstration, discussion and hands-on. The final product could be used as a decoration or an ornament. Students will use hand-building and decorative glaze techniques to make unique, beautiful serving platters just in time for the holidays. All materials provided. RAku firing workshops Instructor, Nancy Jefferson UPDATE-Sunday, November 20th 9 am. - 4 p.m., Ceramics Lab Saturday, December 10th 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Ceramics Lab $35Members, $45 Non-Members Bring your ceramic masterpiece to be raku or smoke fired! Raku is a method of firing pottery. Each piece is fired in a kiln until the piece reaches about 1800 F. The piece is removed, with tongs, while red hot and place in a metal can with a combustible material, like paper or sawdust. The combustible material ignites and the fire and smoke react with the glaze to create very unique and unpredictable colors, lusters, and patterns. Each piece of Raku is a one of a kind work of art! We are offering two dates this holiday season to bring your already made ceramic piece in and have it rakued. Glazes and firing are included in price. Please note there are TWO separate offerings of this class at different times. Make sure to note which class time you are interested in on your registration form. Wire sculpture workshop Instructor, Michael West Saturdays, December 3rd & 10th 12-4 p.m., Studio D Learn to make holiday wire sculptors in this beginners workshop. Anything from holiday angels to stars this is the perfect workshop for holiday decor! This also makes an impressive gift. No experience needed. Material fee of $15. Here s your chance! Each month at LeMoyne we will focus on a particular artist and a selected piece from their body of work. Instructor Karen Mercer will give a brief talk about the artist and how they approached the canvas. Then students will be led as they experience recreating these famous works in a similar manner. Each session will meet from 6:00-8:30 p.m. giving students enough time to complete their very own masterpiece. Each art adventure is $35 for LeMoyne Members and $45 for Non-Members. The price of the workshop includes all materials (canvas, paint, brushes, etc.). Students are encouraged to bring any drinks and refreshments, and LeMoyne will provide cups, napkins, and small plates. Art adventures are available for private parties and special groups upon request. Register early as space is limited to 20 seats per month (minimum of six people required).
