In the cluster Mechanical Engineering & Mechatrnics, the West Flemish knwledge institutins wrk tgether with POM West-Flanders n the develpment f pen test and innvatin platfrms, based n the needs and pprtunities fr these cmpanies. The Expert Grup M&M f TUA West bundles the infrastructure and expertise f the West Flemish knwledge institutins arund Industry 4.0 in the cmpetence center M&M. With the cperatin f Flanders Make, they make dem and test infrastructure available t West Flemish prductin cmpanies in the Innvatin labs f KU Leuven Campus Bruges, the Applicatin labs f UGent Campus Krtrijk and Sirris and the technlgy labs f VIVES and Hwest. Gregry Pinte, Flanders Make Innvatin, prduct & prductin prcess, research, Industry 4.0 Gregry Pinte is R&D manager at Flanders Make, the strategic research centre fr the manufacturing industry. Flanders Make delivers full supprt t the innvatin prjects f manufacturing cmpanies thrugh excellent research. This way, Flanders Make aims t cntribute t new prducts and prductin prcesses that help t realise the vehicles, machines and factries f the future. Valentijn Destp, Hwest Design-driven Innvatin & Entrepreneurship, VR/AR, Technlgy Lab As head f the VR/AR technlgy lab, Valentijn is respnsible fr cnnecting the industry t the research center f the wrld best gaming schl Digital Arts & Entertainment at Hwest. As a renwned designer and creative entrepreneur, he guest lectured at academic institutins including Vlerick business schl, Berlin Schl f Creative Leadership, amng thers. Valentijn cnnects talent thrugh the Creative Netwrk. In his spare time he advises creative entrepreneurs and acts as a mentr in several Eurpean startupincubatrs and acceleratrs.

Versteyhe, after taking varius rles within the industry, has been appinted prfessr at the research grup M-grup f KU Leuven. M-grup bundles cmpetences fr applied mechatrnics in dependability and distributed systems. Dependability encmpasses reliability - availability - rbustness and security f a system. Distributed Systems are treated as a cmplex ecsystem f machines that are cnnected within the Industry 4.0 paradigm shift. Rik Vanhevel, Sirris Mechatrnics, ERP-systems, innvatin, Industry 4.0, peratr supprt Rik Vanhevel graduated in 1988 as master in mechatrnics and cmputer sciences at KU Leuven, Belgium. Wrking fr mre than 25 years with Bekaert, Rik was able t develp a brad set f cmpetencies in the field f manufacturing, ERP-systems, engineering and innvatin. He is principal engineer in the prgram Smart and Digital Factry. Operatr supprt and transparent factry are main tpics in the Smart Multivariant Assembly Cell demnstratr in the Sirris applicatin lab. Jeren De Maeyer, UGent Smart prducts & prductin systems, electrmechanical systems, digital data engineering, Industry 4.0 Jeren De Maeyer is yur interface t a grup f 125 researchers at UGent and Hwest wrking n (1) smart mtin prducts fr vehicles, industrial machines and energy; and (2) smart prductin systems fr flexible assembly and discrete part f batch prcesses. With ur expertise in electrmechanical, industrial systems and digital (data) engineering; we are yur expert partner fr yur innvatin prjects, ready t inspire yu with ur technlgy and cnnecting yu with key partners.

3 Philip Vanlfsvelt, VIVES Industrial IT, Industry 4.0, Machinery safety, Electrical engineering Philip Vanlfsvelt graduated in 1987 as master in electrnics and cmputer science. He started wrking as an autmatin engineer, prject engineer. He is lecturer in industrial autmatin, machinery safety at VIVES university cllege since Skills: Industrial IT, Industry 4.0 with majr fcus n prductin, prcess and batch autmatin, using engineering sftware platfrms like Siemens-TIA-prtal, SIGMATEK-LASAL class. Machinery safety prjects: applying safety technlgy accrding t bth machinery standards and Eurpean directives. Develping HMI applicatin, web interfacing and realtime web based dashbarding including remte and clud based slutins fr nline access and datalgging. Electrical engineering f industrial cntrl cabinets. EXPERTS NEW MATERIALS The cluster New Materials fcuses n West Flemish cmpanies that prcess plastics in their prductin prcesses in rder t increase their innvative strength. Tgether with the Expert Grup New Materials f TUA West, investments are being made in infrastructure and knwledge building related t thermplastic plymers and cmpsites, prcess ptimizatin and new prductin prcesses and recycling f textiles and plastics. The Expert Grup New Materials cmbines the expertise f Centexbel, Hwest, KU Leuven Campus Krtrijk and Bruges, UGent Campus Krtrijk, VIVES and Catalisti. In the pen innvatin hall New Materials their cmpetencies are brught tgether and used fr, amng ther things, research int the use f recyclate as a raw material in the plastics prcessing and textile industry. Sfie Huysman, Centexbel & prject Accelerate³ Materials Engineering, sustainable materials, biplymers, additive manufacturing Dr. ir. Sfie Huysman btained a master degree in Materials Engineering and a PhD in sustainable materials management at Ghent University. She wrks at Centexbel as a research scientist and is invlved in several reginal and Eurpean prjects n extrusin f thermplastic plymers and plymer-based additive manufacturing. The use f biplymers is an imprtant research tpic.

4 Katrijn Sabbe, Hwest Chemical Prduct develpment, design, plastic prcessing After her master's degree in prduct develpment, Katrijn specialized in design and prcessing f plastic prducts. During the first 10 years f her career she wrked at varius plastic prcessing cmpanies, in Anziplast as prject engineer and at Cabka as an peratin manager. At the mment, Katrijn guides engineering students in the materializatin f designs that are realized n behalf f industrial cmpanies. Bart Buffel, KU Leuven Chemical engineering, plymer prcessing, numerical simulatins, recycled materials Bart has a backgrund in chemical engineering and plymer prcessing. Nwadays, he is a research expert at the plymer prcessing research grup PrPLiS f the KU Leuven. He teaches, plymer prcessing, numerical simulatins and heat transfer. Bart has experience in different plymer prcessing tpics like: Shrt fibre reinfrced thermplastics, natural fibres, thermfrming, numerical simulatins and material characterizatin. Wim Thielemans, KU Leuven & prject Accelerate³ Chemical engineering, plymers, renewable materials, nancmpsites Wim Thielemans is a chemical engineer with research experience in Belgium, the USA, France and the UK n the develpment f plymers, (nan)materials and nancmpsites frm renewable resurces. His research grup at KU Leuven Campus Kulak Krtrijk cntinues n this track with a strng fcus n manipulating and mdulating interfaces between phases t develp highperfrmance renewable materials.

5 Tm Scharlaken, VIVES Chemical Mechanical engineering, Additive Manufacturing Tm Scharlaken graduated as Mechanical engineer at KU Leuven. He wrked as Mechanical Designer at Demaitere Engineering where he became respnsible fr prductin techniques: CNC machining, sheet metal, welding. He has built up a netwrk in manufacturing business befre mving n t Vives in Tm wrks as a lecturer machining and researcher n Additive Manufacturing. He fcuses n Metal AM and has built up experience with Laser Beam Melting (LBM/SLM). EXPERTS 3D PRINTING Ed Russeau, Brightlands Chemelt Campus Expert prject Accelerate³ Mechanical Engineering, Additive Manufacturing, Business Develpment Ed Russeau is Business Develpment Manager at Brightlands Chemelt Campus. He graduated and hlds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Frm 1985 t 2013 he wrked at DSM Engineering Plastics in many functins. Since 2013 he wrks at Brightlands Chemelt Campus in the field f high perfrmance materials and Additive Manufacturing, linking technical and ecnmical expertise in materials twards creating new businesses. Kris Binn, Flam3D Expert additive manufacturing Kris Binn graduated as a Master in Nautical Sciences and cntinued, while wrking, studies n internatinal and intercultural management, as well as Disaster Studies. His prfessinal career has been diverse s far: disaster management cnsultancy, sales and marketing in the technical textile industry, as the representative fr the Red Crss in Nepal and develping SME activities in Africa. Currently he is wrking in less extic Flanders, n the nevertheless equally interesting tpic f 3D printing, as directr f the cluster assciatin fr additive manufacturing, Flam3D. Meet the experts is an initiative f POM West-Vlaanderen and TUA West, in cllabratin with the Interreg prjects Accelerate³ and ISE.
