1 Fall is just around the corner! Are you ready for crisp, cool evenings, bon-fires, s mores, football and NEW CLASSES at SEW BIZ? We have lots of fun planned for you for the Fall and Winter! We have been busy getting new Block of the Month quilts ready and preparing projects and gifts for the holidays. I don t want to rush through the season but I am really excited about the projects we have planned now through December. And back by popular demand we have reserved a date for HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. This event is very popular so you will want to get registered be sure to invited your friends so that they will not be disappointed. This time of year is always busy but please take time to work in some SEW BIZ sewing time! 2 Page 2 September 26 (Saturday) is NATIONAL GOOD NEIGHBOR DAY. We are asking you to be a involved in our efforts to assist Missionary Jade Metz from Marion, who is serving in Uganda. Jade developed The Dignity Project - read more here. We have had 2 work days previously and had a great response. So we decided to make our Good Neighbor Day and international project. If you have time to help us, please come any time between 10 and 3 on Sat. Sept. 26th. If you can bring your sewing machine, that helps but we have jobs for everyone. Please call to let us know so that we can plan. This is an unbelievable project and the need is great! If you can not come but would like to help, I have put the pattern and instructions HERE so that you can Jade Metz and the Ugandan girls and women. download them. If you have questions, please give us a call. If you can not help but would like donate money for the supplies, that is also greatly needed. We appreciate you support of this very worthy project. If you are making the pads, here is a little hint: If you draw a template for the circles (7 1/2" diameter) and cut the fabric into 8" squares, then have someone draw around the circle template onto the wrong side of 1 of the cotton square pieces, it is much easier. You then layer up the 3 layers and then STITCH ON THE LINE. Much easier than trying to sew 1/4" away from the line. Using pinking shears, trim close to the stitching. Leave the outer seam allowance larger where the opening is so that the fabric turns easily. 3 Page Quilt Reveal Party - Everyone is Welcome! Thurs. Sept pm FREE We will host this fun event to see the quilts that have been made by those people who participated in our GAIA Block of the Month. All of the fabrics were selected by the individuals and we are excited to see the beautiful quilts. Come for a fun evening of quilt beauty and fellowship with others who share the love of playing with beautiful fabrics. It takes 2 fat quarters or yardage and the pattern/kit comes with the other supplies. Add fabric and thread and this cute little Pop-Up tote is ready to use NEW! Embroidery Block of the Month Tues. Sept am - 1 pm or 6-9 pm $12 + Supplies Join us as we begin a new Block of the Month for embroidery machine owners. This quilt can be lap size (67 x 67 ), twin size(67 x 87 ), or bed size (87 x 87 ). We will be meeting monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of the month for at least 8 months and maybe more as we determine the progression of the quilt. It uses the Embroidery Applique in the Hoop method and is absolutely stunning as are all of the Smith Street Designs embroidery projects. Fabric selection is up to you. I have seen the quilt that is pictured here and I have also seen it done in pastels both are beautiful! Don t miss out on this opportunity to learn more about embroidery AND make a beautiful quilt. Sept am - 1 pm or 6-9:00 pm Class Fee: $ Supplies Simple Whatnots Club -- This is a skill building series of small projects that can be used as table toppers, wall hangings, etc. There are six projects to be done one project per month. The first one will be Anthem with four center blocks set in sashing and surrounded by pieced borders. These projects will be kitted for your convenience. Come join us as we sharpen our quilting skills. 21 1/2 x 21 1/ Tuffet Class Sat. Sept am -3 pm Class Fee: $ Supplies We will be making a Tuffet! This is a beautiful accessory for any room. You select your fabrics 2 fabrics or a whole rainbow of fabrics. These Tuffets are complete with legs and so unique, allowing you to create just the perfect accessory for a room. We will have the kits prepared for the wood, batting and hardware. You won t even have to find someone to drill the holes for you! When you leave, all you need to do is add legs. Sept am - 1 pm or 6-9 pm Class Fee: $ Supplies Tired of dealing with the box that your embroidery unit came in? Join us for this class to make a fabric case for the Styrofoam cube that your embroidery unit is stored in. It is important to store the embroidery unit in the Styrofoam but dealing with that box is clumsy. We will make a simple fabric bag with straps to make transporting your embroidery unit much easier. The scalloped border is printed and we will teach you how to miter the corners for a great match in the corners. This quilt is quick because it is created using pre-cut jelly rolls Modern Clutch by Pink Sand Beach Thurs. Oct am - 12 pm or 6-8:00 pm Class Fee: $10 + Supplies Back by demand. This is a NEW pattern that was introduced at Quilt Market with great reviews and we taught the class in June and everyone LOVED it! Perfect for many occasions and can be constructed in a variety of fabrics. Simple sewing required so this is perfect for any skill level. After making one, you will want to make more. Our sample is embellished with Hot Fix Crystals and you may want to do the same with your clutch NEW! Block of the Month Mon. Oct am 1 pm or 6 9 pm $10 + Supplies In this brand new Block of the Month we will be meeting the 2nd Monday of the Month and sewing the blocks in class. You will receive instruction on the sewing techniques, etc. for each of the blocks. Class size is limited so sign up early to hold your spot in the class. Kits are prepared for this class and the fabric is limited.
