1 Beginning Paper Piecing This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to piece blocks using a paper foundation. We will use the Carrefour pattern to construct blocks to make a pretty table runner. Learning how to foundation paper piece is a great technique to add to your quilter's tool belt!! Dates: Wed. We will start at the very beginning and learn how to choose fabrics, use a rotary cutter, and piece simple blocks. We will continue learning how to piece small quilts, layer the quilt sandwich, quilt by hand or machine, and finish with the binding and label. Traditionally, the Carolina Lily pattern was constructed using diamonds, squares and triangles and required many Y seams which made it very difficult to piece. 4 Creative Script During this two session class you will learn to appliqué and embroider lettering on to your quilts. During the first session you will set up a phrase, determine fabric choices and amounts and how to transfer your phrase onto fabric. The second session will focus on using fusible web to attach the lettering onto the background fabric and how to finish the letters with hand embroidery. This is a must take class for appliqué and embroidery enthusiasts. Cost:$ with some quilting and appliqué experience Instructor: Linda Jones Dates: Sat. Jan 21 and 28 from 12 to 3 pm Beginning Needleturn Applique The focus of this six week classes is to develop and master your hand applique skills. During the first class we will be discussing basic applique supplies, fabric, color choices, and the applique stitch. Since we will be discussing applique supplies during the first class, I haven't compiled an class supply list. I will have many different needles, pins, marking tools, etc for you to try and decide which ones works best for you. This class will meet once a week for six weeks from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM Cost:$ Dates: Thu, Jan 12, 19, 26, and Feb. 9, 16, 23 from 6:00 to 8 pm. Sweet Sixteen Join Peggy and all your applique friends on the First Thursday of the month to make this absolutely beautiful applique quilt designed by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. We will be working on at least one block every month until all 16 blocks are completed. This will be a wonderful class for anyone who loves to applique and socialize with other applique enthusiast. 5 The Third Monday Demo On the third Monday of every month we will be having a demonstration of a new or maybe not so new quilting technique or product.
