1 Learn How to Machine Applique Sweet Treat Pillow If you always wanted to learn to do rawedge appliqué, begin with this simple project. You will learn to trace the patterns, fuse them, cut them out and use your machine to finish the edge of this simple pillow. 2 Page 2 Pineapple Rings Have you ever wanted to make a Pineapple Quilt but didn t want to deal with paper piecing the blocks? In this class, you ll learn how to construct the pineapple block using the Pineapple Trim Ruler. You ll be surprised at how fun and easy it is to make perfect pineapple blocks. Required: pattern, ruler and rotary skills Instructor: Sue Fee: $36 Wednesday, March 7; 12 4 pm Plush Bunny Yukito Make this charming bunny plush in time for Easter and learn plush making technique along the way from the pattern maker herself! Students must be proficient in sewing on their machine and know hand sewing. This is not for sewing beginners, but is perfect for a plush beginner. Required: pattern, materials Instructor: Nyssa Fee: $36 Beginner Machine Quilting Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing, and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension. Instructor: Sue Fee: $36 Sunday, March 11; 12 4 pm Lucky Stars: A Start-to-Finish Quilt Count the number of blocks you want to make, gather that many fat quarters and some background and you re set! Learn to make perfectly pointed stars, then put them together in a setting that is both unique and easy. From the first cut to the last stitch we ll be with you all the way. Quilt finishes at 60 x75. 3 Page 3 Square Tuffet As with the very successful round tuffet class, the square tuffet will require sewing skills. With the use of templates, you will cut out all the pieces you need to finish your unique piece of furniture. The remainder of our time is spent learning how to sew 1/4 of your tuffet cover together. This will give you the confidence to go home and sew the remaining 3 sections. In the second class, we get out the power tools and you put it all together. Required: Upholstery kit - $120 fee payable to the instructor. Instructor: Julie Fee: $90 Learn to Paper Piece Strippy Placemats We love the precision you can achieve with paper piecing and it s easy once you know how. In this class you can use your new skill to embellish placemats. Required: Pattern and rotary skills Instructor: Arlene Fee: $27 Monday, March 19; 6 pm 9 pm Saturday, April 7; 11 4 pm and Saturday, April 28; 12 4 pm Hip Hop Here's another quilt from Laura Heine, in her signature collage style, this time smaller than her Lulu the elephant, and a great way to learn the technique. We have a limited number of kits (reserve one soon!), or use your own fabrics, especially if you have smaller scraps you'd like to use up. You ll learn to fuse your fabrics, cut them, and then position them just right for your very own Hip Hop Bunny. Required pattern: Hip Hop from Fiberworks Instructor: Eve Fee: $36 Sunday, March 25; 12 4 pm Retreat Bag A make up bag, sewing bag, swap bag-or just a bag for any sewing retreat. This bag is easy and holds a lot of goodies! The frame on this bag creates an opening that stays open no matter what, making it both handy and professional. You will get the basics for sewing a bag with a pocket, lining, and zipper. 4 Page 4 Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3- hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. Required: ruler kit, Bernina 72 foot, and confidence in free motion quilting Instructor: Sue Fee: $54 Fridays, April 6 and April 13; 1 4 pm Tool Tote Instructor: Sue Fee: $54 Saturday, April 14; 10 4 pm Round Tuffet Wouldn t it be fun to use our favorite fabric to make a piece of furniture? If this sounds interesting, then this is the class for you. In just two classes you will create your own unique tuffet. If you know how to use a rotary cutter and can sew a straight line, the class will be nothing but fun. In the first class you learn the technique to make the cover to your tuffet. You will then have time to complete your cover before the second class. The second class we put it all together. Required: Upholstery kit - $120 fee payable to the instructor. 5 Page 5 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Please bring your lunch or snack, your machine and sewing supplies. Quilt kits will be provided. If interested, please contact Deb for more information: debbie@greaney.com Meets: 10:15 am 3 pm March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5 English Paper Piecing Group 2018 Sew excited for you to join us for the 3rd year of the Pennington Quilt Works English Paper Piecing Club. Our monthly group is open to anyone who would like to join and learn English Paper Piecing (EPP). This quilt-along lasts 5 sessions. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. **If you are new to English Paper piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee. See below for dates and times. Below are the club dates for the first half of Please sign up for either Wednesday 10:30 12:30 am, Wednesday 7 9 pm (with one exception) or Thursday 10:30 12:30 pm. We will have one makeup session in June date TBD. Instructor: Marisa Fee: $60 March 14 and 15 April 25 (morning only) and 26 (morning and evening) May 23 and 24 Class registration policy Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.
