Learn to make this scooped neckline, relaxed fit sweatshirt. It s an update on the classic style. This sweatshirt can be made entirely on the serger but can also be made using a sewing machine. Required: pattern, Linden Sweatshirt from Grainline Studio Instructor: Eve Wednesday, January 31; 10:30 Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3-hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. 3 Page 3 Big Flower Pillow Class Do you have leftover fabric with fusible web on the back or smaller fabric scraps you refuse to throw out because you love them and want to include them in another Project? This big Flower pillow is a perfect use for those pieces (you can certainly choose new fabric if your stash is low)! We will be cutting shapes from a template positioning and fusing them to a background and embellishing with piece becomes a lovely top to a zippered pillow you will make in class. Instructor: Eve Saturday, January 20; 10 am 2 pm or Thursday, February 1; 10:30 am 2:30 pm or Thursday, February 15; 1 pm 5 pm Bailey s Quilt This simple, yet striking quilt will look great in any combination of fabrics you choose. You ll start right at the beginning learning rotary cutting, accurate seaming, block construction, quilt assembly, and settings and borders. At the end of class, you ll have your quilt top done or almost done and ready for quilting. How do I finish this quilt? I ll give you tips and techniques to square up and measure what you have to get those projects done. We ll look at finishing options and learn how to measure backings and bindings. Come with a notebook and questions. They are designed by Laura Heine. We will make one of the fish placemats in class, you will learn about color placement and fused raw edged quilting so you will be able to finish the others at home. 4 Page 4 The Cube Tote Here s an new fun class for all you purse lovers. The Cube tote is such a cute and versatile little purse! It s a smaller version of the popular Tool Tote, with pockets all the way around both the outside and the inside. A heavy-duty metal stay keeps the top of the bag open for easy access. Plus there s a zipper on top to keep the tote closed. The Cube measures 10 long x 7 wide and 5 tall. Required: pattern which includes stays Fee: $45 Wednesday, February 7; 11 am 4 pm Trapunto Trapunto is a quilting technique that adds depth and dimension to a quilt. Also know as the stuffed or stuffing technique, it gives motifs in your quilt a raised or puffy appearance. In this class, you ll learn to create this look by using an extra layer of batting and water-soluble thread. You ll be surprised how easy it is to get this stunning effect. Get ready to take your quilting to the next level. You must be a confident free-motion quilter Saturday, February 17, 12-4 pm Stash Class Framed Half-Square Triangle How do I use my stash or all those leftovers from finished projects? I ll give you hints on how to pick and cut ahead so you can get most of a quilt top done in 4 hours. 5 Page 5 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Please bring your lunch or snack, your machine and sewing supplies. Quilt kits will be provided. Please register ahead so we know how many to expect. Our monthly group is open to anyone who would like to join and learn English Paper Piecing (EPP). This quilt-along lasts 5 sessions. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. **If you are new to English Paper piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule.
