1 Around the Village from The Village Quilter The Village Quilter Charles Street, Historic Mt. Holly, NJ Summer 2016 Hello happy villagers! I cannot believe that it is June already. Seriously, it seems like we were in the shop painting the floor just a week ago! Things are really bustling at the shop these days. Tonight, as I sit here in the office, I am happily listening to the chatter coming from the porch. The ladies here for our UFO night are busy contemplating life and solving world problems. I for one am happy that they are taking on the challenge! This issue of Around the Village brings with it our most recent class list. The classes listed within are sure to wet your appetite for creative expression. Additionally, we have added something a little different. On July 16th we are offering a Mystery Quilt class. No one knows, even me, what the quilt looks like. I just love a good mystery! I can t wait to shop for my fabrics. Kelly is back with three different bag classes. Hexie friends, I think the Sew Together Bag or the Classmate Bag will be the perfect bag to carry around our hexie supplies. Remember, if there is something you would like to see in the shop, let me know and we will see what we can do. I look forward to seeing you around the village! Blocks are made from strips, squares and rectangles. Choose baby, lap or bed size. Machine Quilting Sue Morrison 1 Session SMR Skill Level: Beginner Monday 8/8 1 pm 4 pm $35 + panel + supplies Paper Piecing for Beginners Kim 1 session SMR Skill Level: Beginner Thur. 8/ pm $35 + fabric + supplies This basic skills class teaches you how to finish your quilts using your home sewing machine. (Be aware that not all machines were designed to machine quilt, but each machine is worth a try!) You will learn how to start and stop your quilting threads and do basic even-feed (including stitch-in-the-ditch) and free motion quilting. We ll discuss different quilting threads and needles and how to adjust your machine s tension. A basic beginner s class for learning the art of paper piecing. Our project will be a block that you can repeat & make into a beautiful wall hanging. You will leave loving to paper piece. Quilts, Wall Hanging & Fun Stuff Into the Wind Delia 1 session SMR Skill level: Intermediate Thurs. 7/ pm or Sat. 8/ pm $ pattern + supplies A traditional Miss Rosie pattern with flying geese. Have fun using flying geese to create this fun pattern. Use soft colors like Miss Rosie or bright Kaffe fabrics as in shop sample. Mug Rug Skill Level: Beginners Sat. 7/30 10 am-1 pm or Wed. 8/24 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm $ book + supplies Learn how to machine applique while making one of these adorable mug rug. You will have fun complete your mug rug in this class.

Bring a bag lunch or grab something in town. Art Quilt Club All Levels The Art Quilt Club is a monthly club for quilters/sewers/artists interested in exploring a new style. Club meets the first Thursday of each month from 2-4 pm. Members will sign up for a 6-month membership for $30.00 and work on projects based on the group s interests. No experience required - new members welcome!! 1st Thursday of each month 2-4 pm $ for 6 months membership!! This class is currently full contact the shop if you would like to be on the waiting list. Jo s Little Women Club There are currently 3 different sessions for this club 2nd Tuesdays 11-1pm, 2nd Thursdays 11-1pm or 4 th Tuesday 6-8pm Class Fee: $30 for 6 month pass + pattern packet& fabric For the lovers of reproduction fabrics we are delighted to offer you Jo s Little Women Club by Jo Morton. Jo is a maker of small reproduction quilts and has numerous fabric lines. She has developed a club with club member exclusive patterns. Each meeting begins with a short program by Karen featuring some interesting history of the quilts of this time period. Tea & Applique Club Tuesday 7/5 & 8/2. Class 10:30am-12:30pm Fee $5 each class This club meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30-12:30 to work on appliqué techniques & projects. Appliqué club open to anyone interested in sharing ideas and refining appliqué skills. We love to share with beginners. Join the fun and the fellowship & Tea!!!
