We will show the completed quilt and demonstrate the techniques used to complete it. Kits will be available for you to purchase. Bring any finished project to share with the group. You would be surprised at the treasures you may have in your closets. Jeanette Dwyer will be on hand during our Fall Retreats on Friday, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Oct. 31 to do quilt appraisals. She will be with us at the Comfort Inn and Suites in LeClaire. Jeanette is a professional quilt appraiser and former shop owner who knows her stuff. Please call the shop for an appointment.

4 Block of the Month Bertie s Year BOM Join Pam for a folk-art flannel quilt. Each month, for 12 months, you will receive a kit to complete the piecing, applique, and embroidery for one block. Each block measures approximately 17 x 13. Each month, for 4-5 months, you will receive the fabrics, directions, and preprinted papers to complete this lovely 83 x 83 quilt. The quilt combines piecing with paper pieces blocks. Meets: Sept.18 Nov. 20 Oct. 15 Dec.??? Teacher: Janel Cost: 3 Payments of $85 Glorious Hummingbird BOM Join Pam for this block of the month using Jackie Robinson s fabrics. The details in the fabric are exquisite! The tiny hummingbirds hover over morning glories and other blossoms, the scrolled textures are elegant, and the colors are perfect. Kits include the backing. This quilt is available as a queen or king. Please let us know which size you wish to make. We will be making blankets and pillowslip dresses. Bring your sewing machine, serger if you have one, and sewing supplies. Fabric will be provided. Join us for one, two, or all three. 5 Beginning Quilting We use Quilting: The Basics & Beyond by Jeri Simon as a reference manual for this beginner class. Diane will guide you through all the basic steps necessary to complete a beautiful quilt. You will learn how to use a rotary cutter and to sew an accurate ¼ inch seam. This class is designed for the first time quilter, but is also great for anyone who wants to brush up on the basics. Bring your machine and learn to quilt. Book: Quilting: The Basics and Beyond by Jeri Simon Book required for this class Meets: Sept. 15 & Oct. 13 Teacher: Diane Level: Beginner Cost: $ supplies Sashiko If you enjoy big stitch quilting, you ll like Sashiko. Originally, this stitch was used as a practical way to quilt together several layers of fabric to provide strength and warmth to clothing. We will work with a pre-printed sampler panel so that we can explore stitching sequences for several different patterns. Meets: Sept. 23 3:30 pm Teacher: Linda Haugen Cost: $30 plus supplies Triangle Frenzy Ever wonder what to do with border prints? Join Janel as we create table runners and toppers using border prints and a 60 o triangle ruler. Meets: Oct. 14 Teacher: Janel Cost: $ supplies Classes Backyard Buddies Mug Rugs In this demo class, learn the basics of in-thehoop machine embroidery applique to create adorable mug rugs. The pattern features 4 critterinspired designs: a bunny, a fox, an owl, and a raccoon. The project requires a hoop with an 8 x 5.5 stitching field. Meets: Sept. 24 Teacher: Diane Cost: Free Quilt-in-a Day Twisted Log Cabin Rock and roll with the Twisted Log Cabin! Traditional Log Cabin blocks are assembly line sewn with 2 ½ strips. After each round they are squared up with the amazing ruler to give them that rocking twist. It looks complicated, but it s easy enough for a confident beginning quilter. 6 Seasonal Table Topper Take the fear out of doing a Dresden plate. Join us to make this table topper which can easily and quickly be created to give your table a seasonal look. This class will take you from beginning to completion of making a table topper using strips of fabric. It has scalloped edges, no hand stitching, and an appliqued center. Join us as we make this basket using 15 strips and a roll of Craf-tex. Meets: Nov. 11 Teacher: Janel Bihn Cost: $ supplies Edge to Edge Quilting If you ve ever wanted to finish a quilt quickly, make a quilt completely on your own, or see what else you can do with your embroidery machine, then you ll love this technique a technique that allows you to use your home embroidery machine to get quilting results like you d see from a longarm quilter. These preprinted panels give you the opportunity to practice the moves you need to become a free motion queen! Each panel has a variety of designs that can be used in a wide range of applications.
