The new BOM for this coming quarter is a Christmas Wool Applique BOM which will begin April 16 th. ILLIANA SHOP HOP The 2016 Illiana Shop Hop will run from June 17 th thru July 2 nd. The theme is Town and Country. There are 12 shops participating this year. This is a great opportunity to visit some of your favorite stores, see some new stores, get 15% discounts at the stores, and win some prizes. Grand prize is a Pfaff Passport 3. Check it out at to see each store s quilt block, find store information and maps, and other prize and rule information. Get your Illiana Shop Hop Passport as early as May 1 st at Top Shelf Quilts and plan out your road trip. ROW BY ROW EXPERIENCE The 2016 Row by Row Experience starts June 21 st and runs through September 6 th this year. This year s theme is Home Sweet Home. Check out all the details at ce.com. 2 April Happenings Needle and Thread Stitchers Do you love to do hand stitching? If so, join the Needle and Thread Stitchers at Top Shelf Quilts. Bring your latest appliqué, embroidery, or hand quilting project. We all love to do quilt-related hand stitching with our friends! Come and sew with those old friends and at the same time make some new ones. We meet at the shop the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. This is not a class, but a social sewing bee for those of us who love to stitch by hand. See you there - No cost!! Wednesdays, April 6, 2016, May 4, June 1, 2016, 6:00-8:00 Wool Applique Christmas Quilt BOM w/paula K This BOM features 9 different patterns for 9 different blocks. Each month you will receive 2 patterns for 2 blocks (wool kits will be $10.00/block or $20.00/ month). Each block measures 9 ½ by 9 ½ inches. The final quilt measures approximately 45 inches square. The last month will be 1 block and the finishing kit. This BOM will run from April thru August. This will give you enough time to finish and quilt your quilt before Christmas. The 1 st month there will be a class for basic instructions and to answer any questions. This is a confident beginner to intermediate pattern. Basic quilt making skills are assumed. Tools & Techniques (T&T): Strip Tube Ruler w/pam S Strip Tube Junior is perfect for blocks 6 ½ or smaller. The Original Strip Tube Ruler is for perfect blocks 1 9 ½. Sunday, April 10, 2016, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, Cost: $5.00 Quilting: A Simple Sampler w/chris W Always wanted to learn to quilt? How about starting with a simple 9 or 12 block sampler? Come and learn the basics of machine piecing, quilting lingo, and basic machine quilting to make a wall quilt or quilted throw-size patchwork sampler. Lots of basic information will be discussed in class and you will have homework! Be sure your sewing machine is in good working order. Come and join the fun. After this 5 session workshop you will have a finished quilt, as well as the skills to complete any patchwork quilt you have been dreaming about making! Easy to create, it is made with 2 1/2 strips and scraps. It can easily be hung on a door or on the wall. 3 May Happenings Operation Care Package (OCP) Shower Bags w/pam S Join Top Shelf Quilts in helping Operation Care Package by sewing draw string Shower Bags for our troops. We will sew these bags and add a 1 gallon zip lock bag. Operation Care Package will then fill them with personal care items and they will be shipped to our deployed troops. Complete kits will be ready for you at the shop April 21st through May 19th. Kits will include instructions and materials to make two bags. Kits can be completed on your own you are invited to a Shower Bag Sew Day at TSQ. Bring your machine and sewing tools, stay a couple of hours or stay all day. We will have kits, mats and irons, etc. for your use those days. We will be serving snacks, lunch and Chocolate! Join us as we have fun together and say Thank You to all those serving our country. Join us for a fun evening of making these versatile ornaments for any season, for packages, as floral decorations, etc. These cute ornaments are made from card stock, fabric, fusible and trims/bells. Great for jelly rolls and other 2 1/2 strips. This is not a difficult table runner to create. Created with a 120 degree and 60 degree ruler, the stars consist of six sections, created with three fabrics and a background. The table runner uses a Cut Loose Press Pattern and may be expanded into a 58 x 74 size quilt. During this class we will create a colorful mug rug (table pad) to brighten up any table. Learn the technique and expand it to make a lovely placemat, table runner or any rug.
