Soon spring will be sprung! Spring is the time for all of us to get outside again and plant. We are all invigorated to start the process. It is also a time to begin new quilt projects and/or take new classes to learn new techniques. Along these lines, you might want to check out some of the new classes and teachers listed in this newsletter. We are trying to offer you to a variety of skills to review, improve or learn new techniques. Once again we are offering a wool project to learn not only the technique, but also how to use cotton and velvet, as well as different embroidery stitches. This is the beginning of our wool venture. Next newsletter we will unveil our first wool applique quilt. I want everyone to love it as much as I do. We hope to be able to offer new projects in wool with each newsletter. In addition to wool, every month new cotton fabrics are arriving at the shop. Stop by one beautiful spring day to see what is new. Paula and the gals June Activities/ Classes 6, 9 A Night with Karen DeWitt Upcoming Events 10 Sew Dates 10 Karen DeWitt is about to publish the second book in the Bunco Club series. It will be titled Quilters of the Bunco Club: Phree & Rosa and should arrive sometime around the end of April. Top Shelf Quilts is planning another Night with Karen at the shop. Watch for more details in your and at the quilt shop. 1

2 Iliniana Shop Hop to Include Top Shelf Quilts 24 Days of Fun in 2014 In spite of the weather this winter, spring and summer are coming! It s time to begin thinking about road trips and new quilting adventures. This year Top Shelf Quilts will be one of the nine (9) shops in the Illiana Quilter s Shop Hop. Other shops include: Countryside Village Gifts, Braidwood; B & J Sewing Center, Bourbonnais; Prairieland Quilts, Cessna Park; Sewing Boutique, Hoopston; A Quilting Bee, Mahomet; Sassy Sew, Urbana; Rossville Quilts, Rossville, IN; and Krazy Lady Quilt Shop, Monticello, IN. The shop hop will last for 24 days from July 14 th through August 8 th. The 24 days will provide you with plenty of time to plan several smaller excursions in order to visit all the shops. Passports for the shop hop will be available for purchase soon at any of the participating shops for $5. Your passport entitles you to visit each location during the shop hop, register for individual door prizes and enjoy 15% off regular priced fabric of ½ yard cuts or more. Be sure to have your passport validated at each shop along the way, however, only one passport will be validated per person. Passports will need to be turned in to the last shop visited no later than 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 9 th. Grand Prize drawing for a new Stella Sky Lamp, as well as the nine second prizes of a $25 gift certificate, one from each of the 9 participating shops will be held August 11 th and winners will be notified. Do you have oriental fabrics in your stash and you do not know what to do with them? Join Marsha and make this beautiful paper-pieced wall hanging. This workshop assumes you have knowledge of paper-piecing. Intermediate/Advanced quilter s project. This is a great basic bag to learn some new techniques for future projects. CrissCross Mug Rug w/patty C Not sure what to do with all those leftover 2 1/2 strips. Do we have a project for you! During this class we will create a colorful mug rug (table pad) to brighten up any table. Learn the technique and expand it to make a lovely placemat, table runner or any rug. We will use it to make any one or all of the seven different timeless block designs using 2 1/2 strips (Bali Pops, Jelly Rolls or Tonga Treats). By creating various 3-strip stratas which are then cut with a template and twisted into various block designs you can create a beautiful table runner or quilt of your own.
