We will cover all aspects of a quilt; cutting, piecing, block sizing, borders, basting, quilting and binding. You will have a completed quilt when you graduate from this class. We have a few machines available on request. Must pay in full to reserve a spot. This is a popular class, so sign up early! Cost: $100 includes handouts. Join Jan Smith as she teaches the mechanics of hand applique. Using the book, Best-Ever Applique Sampler by Piece O Cake, Jan provides tips and techniques so you can create this cute wallhanging. Beginners are welcome. BALTIMORE meets 1st wed. of the month. It is an ongoing series. If you would like to join this group, you must have experience in applique and ask permission of the teacher. Joan Skalski, your teacher will show how to do it. TOPSY TURVY REINDEER Fri. Oct pm Cost: $25/ pattern required This is the newest pattern from Happy Hollow Designs. If you like all the other Topsy Turvy patterns, then you will love this one too. Stop by the shop to see this delightful wall hanging. We give you plenty of time to have it completed before Christmas. POSH PUMPKIN PLACEMATS Tues Sept p or 6-9pm Cost: $25/ pattern included Using the Posh Pumpkin Panel and Soft N Stable for the batting inside, create 4 simple placemats. 3 MACHINE ING PRIMER Wed Sept pm or 6-9pm ORSat Nov pm /book required The first in a series of technique classes to teach you how to free motion quilt on your home machine. We will talk about setting up your workspace, basting, & preparation, plus hands on work. This class helps you to feel at ease with machine quilting. FEATHERS BY MACHINE Thurs Dec p OR 6-9p Love the look of feathers but are afraid to try them? Let Kathy take the fear out of creating lovely feathers for your quilt. MACHINE ING ES pg 3 STENCILS & SUCH Tues Oct pm or 6-9pm Learn how to use stencils, enlarge or reduce them & how to fit them into borders & blocks. We will experiment with different marking systems to help get that quilt done. Can bring a quilt to discuss options, but will not be working on it. LET S DOODLE Thurs Nov p OR 6-9p Part of a series of technique classes teaching how to draw leaves, flowers and other designs using your home sewing machine. The class will give you ideas for blocks & borders as well as gaining experience in free motion quilting. Prerequisite: Machine Quilting Primer APPLECORE PATTERN Great for placemats! Thurs Oct pm or 6-9pm Cost: $25./pattern included This is a one patch design that has been around for years but never goes out of style. Jan Smith teaches the ins and outs of this appealing pattern. Breast Cancer Awareness Day Saturday October 12th 10-3pm October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here at The Quilting Squares we support the efforts to increase awareness of this horrible disease that affect our fellow sisters. Stop in on Saturday October 12th. A percentage of our sales that day will go to a Breast Cancer Research Facility. We will have refreshments, door prizes, & demos. Wear pink to the shop to support our cause!!
