5 Fee rate chart for spiral tools on machines The following chart gives you the recommene fee rates for working with ifferent spiral family groups on ifferent woo types. It is important to unerstan that these values are only recommenations, because of the epenency which we have between the cutting conitions an the non uniformity of the woo pieces. Woo fiber irection, woo type, woo humiity, clamping stiffness, machine stiffness etc. all these variables together or one by one can change the cutting conition totally. It is recommene that in any new application you reach the recommene fee rate graually an if the cutting quality is acceptable you can continue to increase the fee rate values. Please remember the larger your chip per tip (high fee rate) the life time of the tool is increase. Explanation of the charts. Each chart is relating to one type of the ifferent tool families on a ifferent type of woo. Each line on the chart is relating to the cutting iameter of the tool, if you cannot fin the exact iameter, please relate it as a parallel line to the existing lines. All the information on the charts require a rotation spee of 18,000 RPM, changing the rotation spee has a proportionally irect relation to the fee rate. For example if your tool is rotating at 12,000 RPM you have to ecrease the fee rate by the relation of 12,000/18,000. Cutting epth or woo thickness is given with values which relate to the iameter For example cutting iameter is 10 mm an woo thickness is 20 mm so it becomes a cutting epth of 2x. How to get a fee rate value from the chart. 1. You have to pick the right chart accoring to the tool family an the woo type. 2. ocate your line on the chart accoring to the iameter size. 3. Evaluate your woo thickness accoring to the cutting iameter - is it equal to 1x or 2x or 1.5x etc. 4. Fin the right fee rate accoring to the woo thickness on the chart.
