2 SUPER SATURDAY March 24, :30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. St. Patrick s Community Building 408 West Poplar, Walla Walla, WA $5.00 registration fee per participant Register early! Class sizes are limited and are filled on a first registered basis. All grade youth are welcome. Youth do not have to be in 4-H. Registration fee of $5.00 per participant must be paid at the time of registration; cash or checks only. Fees are non-refundable. Youth scholarships are available in case of financial hardship. Registration form and class schedule available online at: Parents are welcome to stay as observers or to assist their child, but will not be registered as participants. Supplies, handouts, and activities are reserved for participating youth. Adults should allow registered youth to be seated first. Adults must sign in at arrival and wear a name tag. Registration Deadline is Tuesday, March 20, 2018 Registration must be received at the Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. Mail or bring your registration form and fee to: WSU Extension, 328 West Poplar Street, Walla Walla, WA Checks should be made out to 4-H Leaders Council *Late registrations will be accepted based on available space. Check-in: 9:00-9:30 a.m. Come early to check in, get your name tag, and pick up a room schedule before classes start. Lunch Break: 11:30-12:10 p.m. Bring a brown bag lunch or purchase pizza, pop or snacks from Ranch and Home 4-H Club. PIZZA (Pepperoni, Hawaiian, or Cheese): $2.50 per slice POP OR BOTTLED WATER: $1.00 BAKED GOODS & OTHER SNACKS: Small Fee Request on your registration form the number of pizza slices and drinks you think you may purchase (include slices for adults attending with you). Money for food will be collected at Super Saturday when lunch is served (pre-payments will not be accepted at the Extension Office). 2

Tom will demonstrate and teach participants how to cast a fly rod and showcase a variety of resources. Instructor: Tom Craig From preschool to middle school, LEGO Robotics provides a hands-on playful learning tool that engages the natural curiosity of every participant. What is your design? Instructor: Erik Arndt D.I.Y. Calendars Jam Session We all use them and what is more fun than a custom calendar? Participants will create a custom calendar by using a variety of media. Make a custom calendar for your mom or include those special dates for yourself. Instructor: Alanna Jacob Help, Help...Firemen to the Rescue Limit 15 Come meet the Firemen and EMT s of Walla Walla. Saving lives is their business. Check out the equipment they use and learn how you may be able to save a life. Instructor: WW Fire Department & EMT s OOEY GOOEY, but oh so good! On toast or chicken, homemade jam tastes so Good! Learn how jam is made, from picking the right ingredients to spooning out the first mouth watering bite. Instructor: Becki Green Nature s Finest Limit 20 Take a look at nature s finest forms. Learn how animals adapt to the habitats they live in and protect their families from harm. Find out where they live and the signs to look for to keep yourself safe from them. Instructor: Tom Schirm, Walla Walla Fish & Game Inspired: A Mastermind of Engineering Photography 101 Whether it is a bridge or a box, engineering is at its core. Participants will be given a problem and then challenged to find a solution. Planning, teamwork, and construction are in the cards for this class. The perfect picture doesn't exist...or does it? With planning and preparation, the perfect picture can be achieved. Participants will learn the basic essentials of photography. Instructor: Bodean Smith & Jerry Fincher 3
4 Classes: 10:30 to 11:25 a.m. Who Loves Frosting? 1st - 5th Let s Go...Lego Robot Cakes are good, but frosting is better! Learn the basic techniques, behind frosting a cake, by using different tips, equipment, and types of frosting. Take a couple home to share. (Mini Cakes or Cupcakes will be used.) Instructor: Seamus House Nature s Finest Limit 20 Sewing a Straight Line 1st -12th Origami, the Japanese's art of paper folding...at least that is how Wikipedia defines it. Learn how to create these beautiful designs through the simple techniques of paper folding. From a simple box to a frog, learning origami is a fun and creative outlet. Instructor: Katelyn Hassler Sewing a straight line is simple right? Well it is in this class! Come create a fun and creative project that you can recreate for friends and family. 5 Classes: 12:15 to 1:10 p.m. Karate/Self-Defense Limit 14 Modern Flowers Karate is an ancient form of self defense and control. Youth will learn effective and simple self-defense moves to develop a winning attitude. Instructor: Scott & Jan Brashear from the Karate Center Who Loves Frosting? 5th - 12th Make a beautiful bouquet of Paper Flowers. Flowers are pretty, at least for the first few days and then you have to replace them. Learn to make beautiful paper flowers that will last a lifetime and use them as special decorations for a variety of things. Instructor: Jodi Guttromson What s that in your Garden? 1st- 12th Cakes are good, but frosting is better! Show off your princess status with the ladies of the Walla Walla Fair Court. Learn how to present and dress with the best, and one day you will be wearing the crown. 6 Classes: 1:15 to 2:10 p.m. K-9 Detective Limit 17 It s SHOCKING! 1st- 12th Dogs doing detective work, how can that be? With a nose that can smell out the smallest crumb, it is no wonder dogs are doing detective work. Come visit with Officer Goodwin and partner Farel to learn how a dog becomes a K-9 Detective. Instructor: Officer Goodwin & Farel European Martial Arts: Fencing 3rd 12th European Martial Arts may be best associated with King Arthur s Court, but it also has roots in the modern world. Check out this class and learn the basics of lunging, sword position, and where modern day fencing got it roots. Instructor: Tom House & Nick Carpenter Pollinators, like terminator?
