3 Claic Line Linear olenoid of the Kendrion Claic Line are univeral and cot-effective actuating olenoid ideally uited for ue in indutrial application. Advantage Thee olenoid are ued in the tranportation indutry, automation engineering and material handling. Particular advantage are the individual mounting option, the maintenance-free armature bearing and the compact deign. Functionality The mode of operation of the olenoid i baed on the force exerted on ferromagnetic bodie in the magnetic filed. Electromagnet tranformelectric energy into mechanical kinetic energy. Baically, the troke movement take place from the troke tarting poition to the troke top poition (active direction of movement), while the armature reet i accomplihed by external force, e.g. by pring, weight or magneticforce (paive direction of movement). The olenoid can be intalled in any poition, but the force tranfer hould be in axial direction only. The power indicated i reached at 90% of the rated voltage and in warmed-up condition. The value for the duty cycle are reference value and apply for rated voltage, warmed-up condition and load with 70% of the magnetic force of the device. The cable outlet can be rotated 4 x 90 by inerting the contact carrier accordingly. After attaching the plug-in connector to the pin plate of the device plu ealing it i ecured with a machine crew upplied. Technical Term Related to Electricity The rated voltage (U N ) i the voltage with which the olenoid i operated in normal operation. The rated power (P N ) i the power which reult from the rated voltage and the rated current with DC olenoid of a coil temperature of 20 C. The rated current (I N ) i the current which reult from the rated voltage (UN) and the reitance (R20) with a coil temperature of 20 C. 24

25 Technical Explanation Technical Term Related to Force Magnetic force i the exploitable mechanical force reduced by the friction which i generated in troke direction. The magnetic force i afely reached with 90% rated voltage and maximum warming. With rated voltage the lited value rie by approx. 20%. The maximum value of the duty cycle mut not be exceeded. If the relative duty cycle wa determined and it value exceed the permitted maximum value acc. DIN VDE the higher %-ED ha to be elected into the range of which the duty cycle fit in. (Table 1 and 2) Stroke force i the magnetic force which act outide taking the repective component of armature weight into conideration. Holding force i the magnetic force in troke end poition with DC-olenoid; with AC-olenoid it i the average value of the magnetic force periodically fluctuating with the alternating current in troke end poition. Reet force i the force required to reet the armature into troke tart poition after witching off the excitation current. Relative duy cycle (% ED) i the ratio between duty cycle and cycle time in per cent. It i calculate according to the following formula: % ED=(duty cycle / cycle time) * 100 In order to calculate the relative duty cycle the preferred value of the cycle time acc. DIN VDE 0580 item of 5 minute i uually taken a a bai. Cycle time i the um of the duty cycle and the currentle break. For DC-olenoid the cycle time i max. 5 minute = 300. Thi equal 12 witche per hour. The minimum cycle time i limited by the repone and releae time in connection with the relative duty cycle. For a cycle time of 300 there are maximum value for the duty cycle which mut not be exceeded. In cae the permitted duty cycle i exceeded a olenoid of the next higher relative duty cycle ha to be elected. If the duty cycle of 180 i exceeded the olenoid ha to be elected for 100% ED (continuou energiation) or in pecial cae of the duty cycle calculated from the off/on ratio need to be adapted by proper election of the magnetic coil. If the cycle time i irregular the relative duty cycle i determined from the ratio between the added duty cycle and the added cycle time over a longer period of operation. If the cycle time i irregular the relative duty cycle i determined from the ratio between the um of the duty cycle and the um of the cycle time over a longer period of operation.
