Allergies and pollen are everywhere. We have had winds, dust storms, wild fires, and rain. I love when Mother Nature paints the landscape with wonderful fresh greens and spring flowers, and new life springs up around every corner. We should all be able to bring some of these ideas to our quilt canvas. Pastels and flowers are so beautiful under the skilled hands of our great quilters in our guild. Please remember to bring your quilts for Show and Share, size is not important. The Workshop and Meeting Presented by Cathy Miller, The Singing Quilter from Canada was great, and a special Thanks goes to Cherrie for lining her up. This brings me to plant a seed for thought, there will be several positions to fill on the board for next year, so please put some thought into volunteering. The second part of Becky s block challenge is due in April. It was quite a surprise on the number of blocks received in March. Check out her information sheet in this newsletter. ONLY 3 months to go to Quilt Show, Becky is still collecting items for the Artisan s Market. If you have new ideas or projects please let one of the board members know about them or send me an . Also we are always looking for presenters and teachers. I can be reached at sixopals@sbcglobal.net or kathryn.opalka@gmail.com Happy Spring to all and Keep Quilting, Kathy Mission Statement: The mission of the Edmond Quilt Guild is to preserve, teach and share the history and art of quilting.
2 Volume 13A Issue 4 Page 2 SEW WHAT S NEW Quilt Show July 8 & 9, 2016 Alice Kellogg I NEED HELP! The quilt show is quickly coming and I am behind schedule on the raffle quilt sales. Come see me or Sue at the back of the meeting room and check out some tickets to sell to your family and friends. Do you know someone with an upcoming birthday or anniversary? Send them a raffle ticket with their greeting card. They will have a chance to win our beautiful quilt and will know the details of the show because it is right on their ticket stub. ENTRY FORMS should be on the website by now. Read through the rules and deadlines. Run a copy of the form, fill out the required information, attach a picture to the form (or send the pic to me via WonderLand48@cox.net) and give entries to me at any regular meeting or mail them to me Old Farm Road, For those poor peeps that can't get the entry form to print, I will have some extra ones at the membership table. However, these will be for ladies that have a problem printing or do not have access to a computer. Help us save money by printing your own, if you can. It is not only acceptable, but encouraged to save paper and put the quilt story on the back of the entry form. Just a little personal note, if you have never entered a show before, we have a first-time entrant category. You have NO excuse for not entering. Don't tell me that you have never gone to a quilt show and looked at a quilt and said, "Well, I am as good as she is." Of course you have and of course you are! Help your guild shine and strut your stuff.

9 Volume 13A Issue 4 Page 9 SEW WHAT S NEW. Loving Touch Jasmine Malone Miscellaneous Tips If you prewash your fabrics, make sure to fully unfold the material before placing it in the washing machine. Leaving it folded will make the center fold a lot more difficult to remove when you iron the fabric after washing. To keep your glue sticks fresh, store them in the refrigerator. This will also help the sticks from drying out too quickly. Greetings fellow quilters, For the month of March we were able to donate nine quilts to Hope Center. For the quarter we received eight baby quilts, 16 youth quilts and 48 placemats; what a great start for the year. We would like to double this for the next quarter. Additionally, wanted to say congratulations to Vicki Pratt for winning the placemat challenge basket. Don t forget there will be another challenge for the next quarter, 10 or more quilts and 30 or more placemats. There was a great turn out at our first Sit-n-Sew with a total of seven ladies showing up; we had a great time hanging out and sewing together. Our next Sit-n-Sew is currently scheduled for April 21, 2016 at the Community of Christ, 1200 E. Danforth Rd, Edmond, OK. Hope to see you there. V/r Jasmine Malone
