1 New Millennium Quilters Guild Newsletter OCTOBER 2017 Mailing Address: P.O. Box 20153, Hanover, ON N4N 3T1 Address: Website Address: Guild Meeting Dates October 17, 2017 November 21, 2017 December 19, 2017 Meetings are held at: Knox Presbyterian Church 208 Cayley Street Walkerton 7:00 P.M. 9:00 P.M. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month from September to June Please bring the following to the October Meeting: Completed Outreach Projects Name Tag Loonie For Draw Show & Share Items President's Message: Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend with lots of family, fun and turkey of course. On Saturday we made our annual visit to the pumpkin patch so that the kids (of all ages) could pick out their pumpkin. Much serious deliberation resulted in a lovely variety and home we came with our "stash". I think Thanksgiving should be a season rather than a weekend. Speaking about being grateful, I really appreciate our hardworking members who plan our programs, teach us, inspire us and prepare outreach kits for us to work on. The Quilt Show Committee is swinging into high gear preparing for our May show...more about that coming up at the meeting. There is a tremendous amount of work being done behind the scenes in our guild and we can show our appreciation by helping out when asked. We had several new members join us last month and we welcome you as well. Our meeting day promises to be a busy one with a Wool Appliqué course in the afternoon and Kalidoscope of Quilts from Exeter as our guest speaker. There will be an opportunity to shop! I am also thankful to all the members who have responded positively to the invitation to the Gathering of the Guild's next Thursday (Oct 19) in Holmesville. We should have a good representation of our guild. Plans will be discussed at the meeting. Hope to see you at the meeting, President Marion DEADLINE FOR NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER IS NOVEMBER 14th newmillenniuqmquiltersguild@gmail.com SHOW & SHARE SET-UP VOLUNTEERS FOR OCTOBER Cheryl Russwurm Helen Meyer - set up Judy Sloan - hold quilts Helen Becker New Millennium Quilters Guild Newsletter October 2017 Page 1

5 The Cotton Harvest Quilt Shop is honoured to host, for the FIRST TIME EVER IN CANADA, The Cherrywood Challenge Quilt Exhibit! Karla Overland, owner of Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics in Brainerd, Minnesota has given consent for "The 2017 Cherrywood Challenge - VanGogh" to travel to Seaforth, Ontario. Artists from all over the world were invited to take the challenge to create small quilts using the same fabric, same color, same size and same theme. The variety and inspiration that blossomed from this simple idea has been nothing short of amazing in the quilting world and beyond. Karla has worked in collaboration with Bohin France to create this latest challenge - VanGogh. The Cotton Harvest Quilt Shop of Seaforth, Ontario is proud to be the first to display this International Exhibit after its initial reveal at Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. All 120 miniature art quilts will travel to the Seaforth Legion in November before heading off to tour both the United States and France. This could be your once in a lifetime chance to view an exhibit of this calibre. Please plan to visit Seaforth, Ontario from November 30 - December 2, Watch our FB page for future posts!
