This class is the prerequisite to all other appliqué classes, and will introduce you to the correct needles, threads, fusing method and stitching techniques to result in stunning machine appliqué. Machines are not required for the first class. This new beginner appliqué project is perfect for experimenting with your decorative stitches and receiving in-depth instruction, no matter which machine you own. Learn the correct way to trace, prepare your fabrics, fuse, and stitch any appliqué. Get our inside info on how to do stitch building, which needles are best for which threads, which foot does the trick, and how to perfect your results. Using a combination of threads and stitches we will make a sampler of various methods as you learn the correct way to set up your machine, prepare your quilt, and get the job done. So, you want to try quilting your own quilt and think you know how? Making a quilt is a journey. Along the way you collect tools and skills to make a quilt top. The next step is to learn to machine quilt to add a layer of texture. What a great freedom to choose your designs: cross-hatching, curves, and straight lines. Practice to gain proficiency. Let us help you get started by guiding you with a small quilt, giving you tips on layering, pinning, spraying and marking, how to set up your machine, which needles, which threads work best, and how to know where to begin.
