Beginner Invisible Machine Appliqué Sunday, October 3, 11am 4pm CLASS LIMIT: 12 Instructor: Karen Pessia; Class Fee: $50.00 (includes kit) Learn how to appliqué by machine with an invisible zigzag stitch! You will work with a foundation material and prepared edges. You will be amazed at how quickly you can master this technique. This is a class with the beginner in mind, but all levels are welcome. Kofu Wall Hanging (35 x 35 ) TWO SESSIONS: Sundays, October 3 & 24, 12:30-3:30 CLASS LIMIT: 8 Instructor: Miho Takeuchi; Class Fee: $45.00 for both sessions (plus pattern) Inspire the Asian within you! Make this traditional Japanese wall hanging with traditional Japanese fabrics (or your own fabrics if you like). Paper-Pieced Stars Saturday, October 16, 10am 4pm CLASS LIMIT: 12 Instructor: Susan Parks; Class Fee: $40.00 (plus book) Learn how to make perfect star points every time using the quilting technique, paper-piecing. As you use paper foundations to sew the sections of your star blocks together, Susan will share with you her tips and tricks. The Illinois Star in Carol Doak s book, 50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars, will be used in two different class projects you may choose from. Both projects are suitable for beginners and offer the repetition practice needed to become a proficient paper-piecer in no time! You will be on your way to make tote bags, wall hangings, table runners and even full-sized bed quilts! This is a terrific beginner project to make to learn all about wool appliqué. You will learn about the wool felting process, working with freezer paper templates and learning the basic stitching techniques for the blanket, stem and back stitches. NEW!!! Beginner Needle Felting Appliqué Sampler Saturday, October 30, 10am 4pm Instructor: Lyn Slade; Class Fee: $40 (includes roving kit) Learn all the needling techniques you ll need to attempt any future project! This project is worked on a cotton background fabric, which is unusual for our beginner classes. In class we will focus only on the needle felting, adding a cotton border or other finishing will be at your discretion.

Frost Farm Stencilscape Saturday, December 11, 9am -5pm CLASS LIMIT: 16 Instructor: Jackie Paton; Class Fee: $65 (includes art supplies & pattern) Please note this is a new, additional date as the Nov. class is full. As you stencil (on fabric!) this charming New England winter scene with a barn nestled amid the snow drifts and sheep in the snowy pasture, you will want to head north!! Anyone can achieve this project. There is no artistic ability necessary to learn Jackie s stenciling technique! You will complete the center painted portion in class and receive the pattern to complete the borders (or just leave it as is and frame it!). Any required supplies for these classes purchased at The Quilted Crow will receive a 10% discount. All class projects can be viewed on our website under classes. 5 ONGOING MONTHLY WORKSHOPS/CLUBS: Appliqué Club Third Saturday, 1:30 4pm Instructor: Karen Pessia; Club Fee: $17 Do you love the two new block-of-the-month programs we are offering in appliqué (Baltimore Halloween and Forget-Me-Not) but feel a bit intimidated by it all? Or do you just want to brush up and perfect your appliqué? Karen is available to help participant s conquer their fear of appliqué and work on their blocks! (Please note this club is not being offered at a beginner level.) Wool Arts Club Second Wednesday, 6-9:30pm Instructor: Diane Daniels; Workshop Fee: $15.00 A monthly open workshop held the 2nd Wed. to help you complete your wool projects. Diane will help problem solve, teach finishing techniques, and see you to the end of your project. Rug hooking and wool work included. These sessions are not for beginners. Open Sew You pick the date! (whenever we do not have a class in session). $10.00 You are invited to come and sew to your hearts content in our classroom space! We have set aside every Tuesday and Thursday for independent, uninterrupted, creative sewing!! Drag out those UFO s, get inspired to begin something new, finish a holiday gift, or just plain relax with other quilters. Gather some friends and meet at our place! Space is limited so please call in advance to reserve yours. Baltimore Album Workshop Third Saturday, 10am 1pm Instructor: Karen Pessia; Workshop Fee: $20.00/workshop Workshop Limit: 10 Karen has put together an open studio the third Saturday of each month for Baltimore Albums. The patterns would be from Elly Sienkiewicz s book, Baltimore Elegance (required for workshop). She will help you select your blocks, the size of them and also help with fabric selection. From there you would work on your own specific block of choice while Karen provides how-to s for each block and demo some 3-D flowers or embroidery. NEW! Quilts of Valor Sew In First Friday Each Month, 10:30am 2:30pm (no charge) Join us to donate your time and say Thank You! to our local service members by making patriotic quilts for them. Bring your sewing machine and stitch the day away. Please call The Quilted Crow ahead and let us know you re planning on coming. Donations of 12 ½ red, white and/or blue blocks are also welcome.
