Supplies: Americana Drying Time Extender - # Identi Pen Black - # Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher - Matte - # Soft Cloth Brushes: Papillon by the Artist s Club Glaze/Wash Brush ¾ # Round 2, # Script Liner 10/0, # Angle Shader 3/8, # Shader 6, # Highlighter Set (4 piece) - # Preparation: No prep is needed since the resin is ready to paint. Any slight imperfections can be lightly sanded. Wipe with a damp cloth. Painting Instructions: THE BUCKET We start by basecoating the bucket with two coats of Honey Brown (remember to let the first coat dry, before applying the second). Also remember to extend your paint to include the inside flap inside the top of the bucket. Once the bucket has completely dried, I used the ¾ drybrush to drybrush the entire Bucket with Fawn and Honey Brown mixed equally. I then drybrushed it again with Fawn only. Next step is to prepare a wash of Traditional Burnt Umber. I brushed this wash over the bucket, doing sections at a time, then wiped back the excess with a soft cloth. Let this dry completely. I wanted to enhance all the areas around the seams of the bucket, so I shaded with Traditional Burnt Umber on both sides of each seam, along the top, bottom and both sides. Once everything has dried, we can transfer our design. SUNFLOWERS - There is a Sunflower on each side of the bucket and they are both done exactly 1

3 the same. We start by basecoating all the petals in Marigold. You will need at least two coats of Marigold for this step. Since there are so many petals, I started my basecoating by painting every other petal, that way it was easier for me to see the difference between each petal. You may paint them in whatever manner is comfortable to you. Once your Marigold basecoating is complete and dry, I took an equal mix of Marigold and Canyon Orange and picked out a few random petals in the background and basecoated those with this. I also mixed and equal mix of Sand and Marigold to highlight all the Marigold petals. I painted the center of each sunflower with solid Traditional Burnt Umber. Once dry, these were drybrushed with Honey Brown and then with Marigold just around the outer ring. I went back and based the very center circle with Traditional Burnt Umber and lightly drybrushed the center of that with Honey Brown. At this point we will need to start our outlining. I prefer using the Black Identi Pen for all of the outlining. I started by just basically outlining all of the petals, but then went back over all the petals once more with squiggly lines to give it some character! These squiggly lines were added to the center of the petals as well. I outlined around the entire center of the sunflower and the center circle, leaving the outer ring to detail. I started from the center circle moving out towards the edge of the outer ring drawing upside down V s to represent seeds. Once this has been done, I used my stylus to create Marigold dots to the upper right of the sunflower and Honey Brown dots to the lower left. The sunflowers are now complete! BRANCHES and BERRIES I used Traditional Burnt Umber to create the branches on the front of the bucket. I lined a bit of Honey Brown through each one. They are finely outlined in Black and the tiny little limbs are lined in Black as well. I shaded a circle of Traditional Burnt Umber where all the berries would be. Then dotted over those circles with Burnt Orange with a small dot inside of that with Marigold. Once dry, I added a Black detail to each berry. 2

4 WHEAT Before painting the Wheat, I shaded Traditional Burnt Umber where the stalk would be and also around the wheat kernels. I then painted the wheat with Spicy Mustard and lined the stalk with a fine line of Spicy Mustard as well. I added a stroke of Camel as a highlight to each kernel. All kernels are finely outlined with Black (I used my pen) and also with added details to the kernels and lines between the kernels. CHICKADEES Start by basecoating their faces and bellies with Sand. Drybrush those areas with Warm White. Shade under their wings with Marigold. Their wings, beaks and tails are all based in Neutral Grey and then lightly drybrushed with Dove Grey. Added lined details are added to the wings and tails with Dove Grey as well. Their legs and feet are based with Black, as well as the tops of their heads and their necks. I did add a few strokes of thinned Neutral Grey to those areas. Their eyes are Honey Brown with Black pupils. I dotted each eye with a tiny dot of Warm White and a small thin line of Warm White as an accent. Finely outline both birds in Black. LETTERING The world Harvest is done entirely in Black along the bottom of the bucket. Finishing: At this point, there is not much left to do! If you choose to paint the rest of the inside of the bucket or even just part of the way down, I would do this with Fawn. Other than that, your bucket is ready to seal. Today I spray sealed mine with Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher - Matte. I did apply two coats, but remember to let the first coat dry before applying the second one. I adore Chickadees and Sunflowers to this was a great project that I enjoyed. I hope you will too! 3
