Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust. Apply one coat of DecoArt MultiPurpose Sealer and allow to dry thoroughly. Painting Instructions: 1. Purple Cow: Base coat area of snowman 2. Gel Retarder/Grape Juice: (Working in small areas at a time for the steps of blending the purple coat) Brush on a light coat of gel retarder; while it is still wet, moisten brush with a small amount of Gel Retarder and load with Grape Juice. Using short & choppy strokes, slip- slap randomly over the coat, leaving no particular pattern, and softly blending into the background. There should be areas where the Grape Juice is quite visible, and areas where you can see much of the Purple Cow. Once dry, repeat the process to get more coverage with Grape Juice, but not blocking out all of the 1

3 Purple Cow basecoat color. 3. Gel Retarder/Peacock Teal: Following the above procedure, while the Grape Juice application is still wet, apply more Gel Retarder to the brush and apply a few random spots of Peacock Teal to the coat. Gently blend into the purple, but not entirely. You want to be able to clearly see small areas of Peacock Teal on the coat. 4. Gel Retarder/Sour Apple: Repeat the same procedure as above, randomly disbursing a bit of Sour Apple over the coat and gently blending it into the purple a bit. 5. Gel Retarder/Dragon Fruit: Repeat the above step with Dragon Fruit. 6. Gel Retarder/Tuscan Red: Repeat the above step with Tuscan Red, you will need very few Tuscan Red areas. 7. Gel Retarder/Dioxazine Purple: Repeat the above step with Dioxazine Purple. (This should be the glue that holds all of the other colors together, so feel free to lightly blend into the other colors on the coat, but be careful to not obscure any of them). Float Dioxazine Purple on the coat next to the trim at the bottom & sleeves, and against the scarf. Repeat to deepen shading if necessary. 8. Warm White: Thin slightly with water and gently splatter over the coat. Base the eyes. 9. Light Buttermilk: Base the face, body & hands 10. Indian Turquoise: Base the bow on the wreath. Transfer the design to the bottom of the coat with White Graphite Paper. 11. Dragon Fruit: Base the hatband; trim on the sleeves & bottom of coat 12. Milk Chocolate: Base Pinecones on hat; wreath & tree trunks 13. Forest Green: Base Scarf (excluding the stripes); every other piece of fringe; leaves on the wreath; and the pine needles on the hatband. Base the trees on the bottom of the coat. 14. Carousel Pink: Base every other piece of fringe on the scarf. 15. Purple Cow: Base the remaining fringe on the scarf. 16. Tuscan Red: Base the hearts on the bottom of the coat. 17. Peacock Teal: Drybrush the center of the trees, the green areas of the scarf; the pine needles and the leaves on the wreath. 2

4 3 18. Sour Apple: Drybrush over the Peacock Teal to brighten highlights on the trees; scarf; pine needles and leaves on the wreath. 19. Orange Flame: Base the nose. Drybrush over the center of the trim around the bottom of the coat and sleeves; and hatband. Drybrush the center of the hearts on the bottom of the coat. 20. Deep Burgundy: Shade around the edges at the bottom of the hearts. Float to shade around the sides of the trim on the bottom of the coat & sleeves and the bottom of the hatband. 21. Sunny Day: Very, very lightly drybrush the center of the trees to brighten; drybrush the green areas of the scarf; drybrush the top of the carrot nose; drybrush the wreath, and the pinecones. Float lightly on the bottom of each tree trunk. 22. Forest Green: Float beneath each section of the trees, which will give them a general appearance of having branches. 23. Warm White: Apply small dots all over the hearts. Allow to dry well. 24. Deep Burgundy: Float a light shade on the bottom of the hearts. Drybrush the underside of the nose. 25. Orange Flame: Thin paint slightly and lightly brush over the Carousel Pink stripes on the scarf to highlight. 26. Grape Juice: Thin paint slightly and lightly brush over the Purple Cow stripes on the scarf to highlight. 27. Peacock Teal: Base the inside area of the bow. 28. Whispering Turquoise: Lightly drybrush across the bow to highlight. Gently drybrush on the bottom of the snowman, his hands & face. Float on the body next to the coat; on the hands next to the trim; and on the top & bottom of the face. 29. Sour Apple: Lightly drybrush on the bow, over the Whispering Turquoise to add a bit of color variation. 30. Carousel Pink: Lightly drybrush the cheeks. 31. Peacock Teal: Base the iris in the eyes. 32. Soft Black: Base the hat & dot the smile. Thin paint slightly and line around the eyes; stroke the eyebrows & eyelashes. 33. Light Buttermilk: Dot the center of the pupils.

5 34. Glamour Dust Aqua: Base over the bow. 35. Glamour Dust Ice Crystal: Base over the red hearts; the hatband; tree trunks; trim on the coat & sleeves; and over the pink & purple stripes on the scarf. 36. Glamour Dust Limelight: Base over the trees; pine needles; leaves on the wreath & green areas of the scarf. 37. Glamour Dust Tiger Orange: Base over the nose. After the Ice Crystal has dried on the trim on the coat & sleeves & hatband, apply a coat of Tiger Orange over those areas. Finishing: Finish with 2 coats of DecoArt DuraClear Varnish Matte, allowing to dry thoroughly between applications. 4
