I have recommended sizes, but feel free to use what you are comfortable with. Seal the surface with the Multi-purpose sealer, then sand lightly. Basecoat the arrow with Plantation Pine and the oval with Tomato Red. Trace the inner oval onto the surface with white graphite paper. I used a plaid stencil from Tim Holtz to do the plaid design on the outer oval. Alternatively you can achieve a plaid design by using a #6 Shader painting thinned Lamp Black first in horizontal lines and then in vertical lines, spacing them on brush width apart. Using the traced inner oval line as a guideline, try not to extend the plaid design too far into the center section. Once the paint has dried, re-trace the inner oval line if necessary and then paint the inner oval with several coats of Khaki Tan. If you prefer not to have the plaid design, you can always just leave the border solid Tomato Red. Trace the horizon line, the trees and the truck onto the oval. Leave the lettering off for now, we will first paint the design and then the lettering will go on after. PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS: Using a 3/4 inch ngular, float wide floats of Warm White on the ground beneath the trees and truck. Walk this down, you want the Khaki Tan to show through, but give the illusion of a snowy ground. With the stronger color to the outsides, float Neutral Gray on the insides of the tire tracks. At this point do not paint the tree in the truck. The trees along the drive are painted using a 1/2 inch angular. It s best to use one that is starting to get a little scruffy. Load the brush with Black Green and first tap in the center line of the tree, then starting at the top, tap in your branches. Start on the toe of the brush and gradually start setting the brush down on the chisel edge as you work towards the bottom of the tree. Let this dry, then go back with Hauser Medium Green only on the right sides of the trees, to highlight them. Finally, tap in Warm White for snow. Keep this light so you still see the two greens on the trees. The truck is based with Tomato Red. The tires are Lamp Black and the bumper is Neutral Gray. The steering wheel is Lamp Black. You don t see much of the steering wheel once the tree is painted in, but it helps to have it painted in case it shows through the tree branches. Shade with Antique Maroon on the cab where it touches the truck bed, and on the tail light sections next to the tailgate. Shade the inside of the indented rectangle on the tailgate. Highlight the roof of the cab with Neons Fiery Red. The bumper is shaded on 2 artistsclub.com

3 each side with a sideload of Lamp Black. Highlight the bumper with Warm White. The tail lights are large dots of Neutral Gray. I used the end of a large paintbrush. Once that is dry, dot a smaller circle in the center of the gray one with Tomato Red. Allow these to dry, then highlight the Tomato Red with Neons Fiery Red. Using a 10/0 liner, outline the various sections on the truck. At this point, paint the tree in the back of the truck using the same method as the other trees. Using graphite paper, trace the lettering on the oval. Paint the lettering with Tomato Red. The letters on Christmas are lined on the left and bottom with Lamp Black using the 10/0 liner. Tree Farm is accented with Warm White strokes on top of the letters (Follow the picture for placement) The Arrow: shade on the arrow where the oval overlaps it, with Black Green. Trace the lettering onto the arrow. Base U-cut with Tomato Red. Line to the left and underneath with Khaki Tan. Sleigh Rides and Hot Chocolate is painted with Moon Yellow using a #1 Round. Allow paint to dry thoroughly, then varnish with several coats of Matte varnish using the larger of the Finish brush set. artistsclub.com 3
