Lorne Hill Farm is a working farm and Caravan Club Certified Location situated on the edge of the village of East Garston, 6 minutes from Junction 14 of the M4 and 5 miles from Hungerford. Traditional is the over-riding theme, with the aim of the workshops being a warm and friendly, non-competitive way in which to enjoy your craft and socialise with like-minded people. Workshops are held in the purpose-built studio beside the house with the emphasis on having an enjoyable time away from your normal routine.. Please book workshops in advance. Workshops with external teachers must be paid for in advance too. 2 Workshops Wednesday 26 th September Medallion Quilt Class with Lynne Johnson. Medallion quilts are so named because you begin with the centre medallion (either pieced or appliquéd) and then the quilt grows as you add more pieced and appliquéd borders either by machine or hand stitching, whichever you prefer. Although it is fine for beginners, it is also a great course as a follow on from our Beginner s Sampler course. The course is made up of 12 workshops, which run every month except August and December a 30 deposit is required to secure a place. Participants should attend each month, but it is possible to skip months if necessary. If you need to skip a month, but would like to keep up on your own, you can purchase that month s pattern for 10. If three consecutive months are missed, you will lose your place on the course. If you decide to leave the course before the end, you will lose your 30 deposit. 30 deposit to secure a place on the course 30 including light farmhouse lunch Wednesday 3 rd October Country Compass Hanging Part One This is a series of three workshops over seven weeks where you will learn some really useful techniques. Using the versatile quilt as you go and foundation piecing methods, Lynne Johnson will show you how to make this sophisticated Mariner s Compass quilt with perfect points! Depending on your colour choices it can be a year-round hanging or one that comes out every Christmas. 30 including light lunch. Wednesday 10 th October Beginner s Sampler Quilt - Part One This 5-part course has been devised by Sandra to incorporate various methods of stitchery, appliqué and piecing as well as rotary cutting and chain

3 piecing. Aimed at complete beginners but also great for anyone who has dabbled in patchwork and wants a more comprehensive understanding of the craft. Participants are encouraged to personalise the quilt as much as they like, substituting blocks with pictures they prefer the last group s quilts included cats, camels and even the Sydney Opera House! 30 including light lunch. Saturday 13 th October Home Sweet Home Hanging. A beautiful felt hanging with embroidered flower blocks surrounding a picture of your own house (or caravan if it s to decorate your holiday home!). Teacher Lynda Johnson s design was inspired by a quilt she saw in Quiltmania and by working with natural felt the hanging has a very contemporary feel. All materials will be provided except for the background fabrics and thread. 30 including light lunch. Wednesday 17 th October Finishing Day. The perfect opportunity to spend the day working on an unfinished project. We will be on hand to help with those frustrating last steps to finishing your quilts. Whether you are at the basting (we have a fantastic method for basting quickly and in comfort!), quilting, binding or labelling stage, and have got quilter s block, we can help move it along! We ve all bought charm packs because we love the fabric and then don t quite know what to do with them well, now s your chance to use them to make a beautiful, small quilt! Machine Pieced and appliquéd, Helene Burgess assures us it is achievable in the weekend and especially if you stay in your caravan on the CL and sew all evening too! including light farmhouse lunch Wednesday 7 th November Beginner s Sampler Quilt Day Part Two As above. Come along and spend the day knitting this trendy collar with designer Amanda Bond brush up on your cable or, if you are a beginner - learn how to cable. Really quick and fun to make.

5 Wednesday 21st November Elf Advent Calendar Make a Danish style giant elf Advent calendar! He has 24 pockets to fill with small gifts or chocolate coins for an exciting run up to Christmas. Approx 4 ft/135cms from hat to toes! Saturday 24 th November Advent Calendar Day Make a fabric Advent calendar - you can choose from the variety of kits, from traditional to contemporary, that we have in the workshop. You ll find the bringing out of the homemade Advent Calendar each year soon becomes one of the traditions of Christmas! Wednesday 28 th November Medallion Quilt Day As above Saturday 1 st December Christmas Cards

6 Using foundation piecing make miniature blocks which can be framed as unique Christmas cards. Loads of different designs to choose from, and we have lots of Christmas fabrics you can use. As well as mastering a tricky technique following Helene Burgess directions you should go home with at least three completed cards and full of ideas for more! Wednesday 5 th December Knitted, felted Slippers You still have time to make these slippers as brilliant stocking-fillers! Quick, fun and easy, and with the added twist of not only being hand-knitted but also felted, we can t think of a better gift. Of course, they are also warm and practical, so all boxes ticked! Amanda Bond will also be able to advise you on different embellishments. Wednesday 12 th December Christmas pitch and Stitch Always a lot of fun, with mince pies to fuel the day and bring on the Christmas spirit! We will have a selection of fabrics and projects for Christmas decorations, gifts and figures to choose from that can be made in a day including light farmhouse lunch Saturday 15 th December Christmas wreath making: Come along for the morning and Linda will teach you to make your own unique Christmas wreath from greenery gathered from the countryside (we do that bit for you but you can bring extra decorations if you wish). The scent of pine, ivy and holly will really put you in the mood for the holiday season and hot chocolate and mince pies will be in abundant supply! Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
