2 Note from the Director January It has finally arrived! After much discussion and planning our 30th Birthday celebration has begun. We have many fun things planned for this year. Here's a brief rundown of the highlights so you can help us spread the word. 1. The slideshow on your Lottoview will let customers know it's our birthday and announce upcoming events and promotions. These slides will change throughout the year. 2. In mid-january we will be launching a special $5 instant scratch ticket which will feature holographs of the Wisconsin Lottery's logo. It will be loaded with $30 prizes and have a grand prize of $30,000. Cindy Polzin Lottery Director 3. On the cover of this newsletter is a picture of our 30th Birthday Moola bobblehead. Our special events team will be giving these away throughout the year at retailer radio remotes, sporting events, concerts, and on our social media sites. Players can find out about our events by visiting our website, 4. We will offer two raffles but this year: our Spring Raffle will be dedicated to our 30th birthday and we are making it just a little bit sweeter by offering a 54% prize payout. The raffle will run for one month or until 50,000 tickets are sold. There will be two top prizes of $30,000, 25 $1,000 prizes, and 500 $100 prizes. Dates of the raffle are yet to be determined. The State Fair 50/50 raffle which will be similar to previous years, but with a little birthday flair and only available at State Fair! 5. Throughout the summer, players will have the chance to win tickets to a special Brewer Tailgate party that will happen in September celebrating another great year of the Wisconsin Lottery. This month we travel to the far west side of Milwaukee to the Washington Heights neighborhood. Much of this area was once an immense farm owned by the Dousman family. The farm was gradually sold in several parcels between the 1880's and 1920's. A major building boom occurred after the extension of the former streetcar line to Wauwatosa and the construction of nearby Washington Park. By 1930 more than 95% of Washington Heights homes were completed. Jouden Hamed, the owner of Retailer of the Month, J W Petro, has seen his share of change in the area too. For the past 40 years he has owned various businesses in the Milwaukee area, such as grocery stores, convenience stores and gas stations. For the last 10 years, he has owned and worked at J W Petro. Jouden and Ron St. Charles, store manager, are extremely personable making this a friendly place to stop for gas and extras. They are passionate about their customers and love to small talk with them which keeps them coming back. It is located in a newly developed area, near the borders of Wauwatosa and West Milwaukee close to Miller Park. At J W Petro they are passionate about Lottery, too. They stay informed about new games and upcoming changes and they sign up for every Short Term Incentive. Their attention to detail and well stocked dispensers have paid off for their players over the years. 7 January Keeping up-to-date on Lottery game changes, new procedures, training and incentives is also a best practice of successful Lottery retailers. One way for retailers to stay informed is to read information provided by the Lottery that is posted directly to the terminal. This reference material may be found on the Special Functions menu under the View Flyer button. Please take a look and share this with all employees. You'll be surprised how much information is available! Because of the success of the $10 price point, many retailers have been asking for a fourth $10 game to be added as a permanent offering. As of December 22, the Lottery began offering 4 games at the $10 price point. The games will offer unique themes to accommodate the majority of your players. Currently players can choose from Crossword games, games loaded with many top prizes, high top prize games and more. The most recent game, $50's and $100's, is a reveal symbol game with a unique prize offering. All wins in this game are either $50 or $100, with overall odds of 1 in 9.4 of winning one of those prizes. MLK Holiday Info: The Lottery will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Retailers who normally receive their telemarketing call on Mondays will be asked to place an order for two weeks of inventory during their telemarketing call on Monday, January 8, This game may appeal to your more regular upper price point players.

These changes are very important to both Lottery Players and Lottery Retailers. PACK ACTIVATION Home> Special Functions> Pack Activation Retailers benefit from the ability to carry additional packs of tickets without having to pay for them as quickly. Players benefit because there are fewer scratch ticket out-of-stocks at retail. Occasionally though, customer service issues arise when a player is sold a ticket from a pack that hasn't been activated yet. SCAN Non-activated tickets cannot be cashed so always remember to activate each pack of tickets on the terminal before putting it out for sale.
