The key differeces betwee MFT1741 ad rest of the multifuctio tester rage is the completely ew iteral hardware architecture, a uique loop testig algorithm that shows the degree of cofidece that ca be placed o the results. Whe loop testig o a quiet circuit, the MFT1741 quickly returs a provisioal readig ad a arc is displayed. This very rapidly dimiishes to a sigle elemet, idicatig that the user ca be highly cofidet of the result. The fial result is ormally available withi 8 secods compared with the stadard test time of 15 secods. O oisy circuits the tester displays a readig as the arc gradually shriks. The result ca be take while the meter is i this less cofidet phase but, give time, the arc will dimiish to the sigle elemet, high cofidece state. If additioal oise is detected while the arc is dimiishig, it will expad agai, idicatig icreased ucertaity, before reducig to a sigle elemet, high cofidece state, this is accompaied by a oise symbol appearig o the display. The results delivered by the MFT1741 are uaffected by the impedace of the RCD or RCBO i the circuit. Measuremets will ot trip the RCD or RCBO, except occasioally i the case of the rarely used 30 ma Type B devices. For these, Megger provides a Type B loop test optio. The MFT1741 ca to carry out 3-wire o-trip loop tests o circuits protected with 10 ma RCDs ad RCBOs, as used i schools ad other special locatios. I all other fuctios ad features the MFT1741 is idetical to the MFT1731. See page 5 for features. 12 2-wire o-trippig loop testers LTW series 2 wire testig The loop test is performed with oly 2 test leads. This ca be either: Phase to Earth Phase to Neutral Phase to Phase (depedig o model) Testig is simple. There is o eed for a third wire which could cause cofusio i idetifyig the part of the circuit uder test. No-trip loop testig LTW series testers do ot trip workig RCDs or RCBOs of 30 ma or greater, usig the o-trip loop test. Noise detectio o o-trip tests LTW uses sophisticated oise detectio circuitry which cotiually moitors the supply durig a loop test to esure the accuracy of the result has ot bee affected by electrical oise from plat ad services.
