This month, we need your support by selling the raffle tickets and preparing some paintings to enter into the exhibition. Also in this newsletter you will find the entry form for the exhibition plus the conditions of entry. All exhibiting members are required to volunteer for a duty at the exhibition, and there is a volunteer roster on page 3. Please fill this out and return it with your paintings and entry form. Check out our website Lots of changes have been made, one of which was to add lots of photos to give the site some colour, (you might be surprised to see your painting on there!). I have added some new features, including a page for the exhibition with links to the entry forms. Also there is a new page containing links to all our 2016 newsletters. One new feature which I would like your contribution to, is the page called Our Members. When I checked this page there was nothing on it, so I thought it might be a good place to list those members who wish to sell their artwork. I can include a link to your art biography plus thumbnails of paintings you wish to show. At the moment my name is the only one there! I m getting lonely! Check out my page and you will see what I would like to do. If you are interested in having a page of your own and perhaps a link to your webpage, or facebook page please me. I am also going to include attachments in this , with instructions on how you can prepare your own page. Congratulations to Denise Lombard who sold 6 paintings at her latest exhibition. A new technique we learnt was another way to stretch the paper. We also learnt how to add blue and yellow into a sky without it turning green.

If you would like to submit a new one, please look at the specifications in the newsletter Apparently Eckersley's and Adamstown Newsagent do not give a discount if you show your Art Lovers Card. A number of artists have already been booked for 2017 demonstrations. We are looking for contributors to tell us about their studios - or maybe lack of! The Exhibition Committee is working hard to get everything in order for our October show. We are still looking for a website manager and a face book page manager. A self-taught artist, Kate has spent the better part of two decades living and working at Lake Macquarie, New South Wales where the beauty of the lake and the industry of nearby Newcastle city has influenced her work. Kate exhibits and sells her work in Newcastle and Sydney from her studio at Lake Macquarie. Her work is highly sought after and can be found in collections both in Australia and the United States. Kate s Studio is at: Tinkat Alley Art Studio including Art Encaustic of NSW 4 Wallsend Road Fassifern NSW phone tinkatalley@bigpond.com Kate will be demonstrating acrylic ink on canvas incorporating mixed media and texture. Participants will work on two projects. I Newcastle Harbour scene called Working Harbour and 2. a floral Red Hot Pokers. The canvases can be any size. The preparation required is that there is a thick uneven coat of gesso or a layer of impasto medium on the canvas. All published contributors names are entered into a major lucky draw prize to be announced in the Dec newsletter WENDY SCHOFFL - My studio is a shed at the top of our garden. It is my little haven. I play my music whilst painting that elusive "masterpiece"!!! I started painting over 20 years ago. My first foray into the "art world" was folk art, which was very popular 20 years ago. Moving up to the lake from Sydney I found a watercolour teacher who was teaching beginners. I have progressed into mixed media but watercolour is still my first love. Very fluid and unpredictable but at the same time challenging. I enjoy being part of the Art Lovers Movement - it is essential to be at the meetings every month and rub shoulders with like-minded people - that is the only way to grow with your art. 6 UP COMING EVENTS COUNTDOWN - Art Lovers Annual ART EXHIBITION will be held Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October Contributing artists MUST their own artist biography by the end of August to Stephanie Macfarlane at bandsmacfarlane@bigpond.com OR bring it along to the September meeting. The format for the biography is it must be: o typed in Times New Roman size 14 font o on a A5 sheet of paper and o include a brief history of your painting interests and any awards you have won. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO ALM EXHIBITION Entry fee of $5.00 per artwork must accompany your Entry Form with a maximum of 6 paintings per artist. 2. Only one painting per artist to exceed 1.1 metres in width or length, including frame, and the remainder to be under this size or the artwork may not be hung. 3. All artwork must be For Sale 4. Each entry must be the original work of the artist dry and suitably framed (unframed deep canvases are accepted) ready to be hung with secure cord or wire and D hooks. 5. Entries should be new work or works not exhibited previously in an ALM Art Show 6. Artist s name, Phone No. and Title of painting to be clearly displayed on the back of the painting. The greatest care will be taken, but no liability will be accepted for damage or loss during the Art Show or whilst in our care. 7. A commission of 10% will be charged on the sale of artwork. 8. All artwork will be regarded as a hobby, to avoid further complications. 9. Paintings to be delivered to the Morisset Memorial Hall between 10 am and 12 pm on Friday 14 th October. Late arrivals will only be hung if there is room and if time permits. 10. Paintings may be collected after 4 pm on Sunday 16 th October. 11. Artists wishing to exhibit their works are required to volunteer for a shift on the roster (above) 12. We reserve the right to reproduce any art work entered in the Art Show, in the media or elsewhere, but we will try to seek the artist s permission prior.
