2 Page 2 -Jill Soik brought plastic bags to share. -Shirley Lucas shared multiple works. 1) fabric on canvas, 2) alcohol inks on Yupo no brushes used, & 3) Gingko leaves in pencil. -Max Nobbe displayed her new guache on Yupo watercolor pour. -Chuck Emery brought a few acrylics. -Lisa Baltes has been working on mono prints.

3 Page 3 Minutes for November 7, 2017 Clay Quick, called the meeting to order. We had 21in attendance. Guests were Kristin Ehlke and Julie Raith. Terri Einer introduced Shannon Piette as our guest artist. Shannon is the Director of the Richeson Art School & Gallery. Business meeting: Secretary s report: Lisa Baltes moved and Shirley Lucas seconded to approve the minutes of Oct. 3, Approved. Treasurer s report: General fund $ 10, Scholarship fund Student: $ Member: $ Kathy Murphy passed around the newsletter from the Teacher s Closet. Workshops: Sandy DePeaux asked that people sign the sheets being passed around if they had interest in either of two proposed workshops for The first, a Watercolor Pouring class by Maxine Nobbe and second, a Giclee Print/Collage Class by Mel Kolstad. After a short discussion about past years donations, Chuck Emory moved and Shirley Lucas seconded that we give $500 to the Teacher s Closet. Carried. Our other annual donation has been to Altrusa Club of Oshkosh for the Art In The Garden Best of Show award. That request for $400 will be made in the new year. Barb Tooley asked about an overall budget do we need to replace the art fair? Carolyn Sturma responded that anyone can donate to the Adela Baumhardt Memorial Scholarship at any time. Joy Moon suggested we look at hosting an a juried art show and Lynn Artz mentioned that the Masonic Temple might be a possible venue. We could continue to use Entrythingy and start small to grow a new event. Clay Quick suggested that we put a review document together to reflect past budget decisions. Carolyn Sturma reminded all that the annual Christmas Party will be on the second Tuesday of December at Primo. An optional art exchange gift and/or non-art gift will again be on the party agenda. Kathy Murphy will repost on her scholarship use at the January meeting. Carolyn Sturma moved to adjourn the meeting. Adjourned. 4 Page 4 Member News Kathy Murphy has a photo at the MOWA (Museum of WI Art) Member Show, 205 Veterans Ave. West Bend, from Nov. 28 thru Jan. 7, Title: Feeling Blue Terri Einer acrylic paintings have been accepted and will be available at Foxley's Gallery in Appleton as well as the Gallery of Wisconsin Art (GOWA) in West Bend. She will also be part of the "Fun Art Sho" exhibit at the GOWA, Jan. 6 - Feb. 24, Looking for something to look forward to this cold, cold, winter? Mel Kolstad will present a Gelli Plate/Collage workshop on Saturday March 10 from It will be held at the Oshkosh Town Hall. Cost will be $38.00 per member and $42.00 non member. There is a 15 person limit on the class. Mel will supply the gelli plates for us to use. Contact Sandy DePeaux, smdepeaux@sbcglobal.net, if you are interested.

5 Page 5 Guest Artist Shannon Piette Director of Richeson School of Art and Gallery Shannon introduced us to Casein paint. Jack Richeson & Co. is the only producer of a full line of Casein paint in 36 colors. Because of its versatility as a water based medium it was an early choice of graphic artists working in advertising. It uses a milk based protein and can be diluted to take it from opaque to transparent. Best applied with synthetic brushes, Casein takes a month to fully cure. After it has cured it can be over painted with oil paints. If additional texture is desired it is best to mix the Casein paint with modelling paste. Shannon prefers to use 140# or higher water color paper. As an added note, we were invited to check out the open studio time on Fridays at the Jack Richeson & Co. store location from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free time to work on your own project with other artists.
