1 Sunshine State Decorative Artists Invite you to our... St. Patrick's Day Painting Party March 14-17, 2019 For updates please visit us at Also follow us on Facebook Sunshine State Decorative Artists

2 Welcome to the 2019 Sunshine State Decorative Artists' Retreat After 2 years hiatus due to our Society of Decorative Painter s convention here in Florida, I m so excited to again have our wonderful retreat! This year s theme is St. Patrick s Day Painting Party. Hunt up your best green attire and come ready to have a great time. You don t want to risk being pinched! Thursday evening after dinner we will have our usual meet and greet and give out your goody bag plus we are having a hat contest. Here is how it will work. We will provide a hat for you and you will decorate it with anything you want. We will have some things for you to use like ribbon, feathers, flowers etc. which you can use or bring whatever you want from home - or use both to create your masterpiece. Some suggestions are scrapbook paper, lace, sequins, fringe, old costume jewelry and beads. Clean out your craft closet! You will have until Friday night to complete and then the judging will begin. We will have 2 make it/take its this year on Friday evening. You will be able to do both. One will be making a gift bag from a cereal box. We will have paint for you, just bring an empty box if you can (any size but the individual). There will be some available also. The second project is a tag created with a piece of watercolor paper with a design already on it. They can be done with colored pencils, watercolor or acrylics. You can bring your own medium or we will have some to borrow. To finish we will glue them to a wooden tag. As always, we will have our raffle tables and would like you to bring donations of painted or paint related items (brushes, books, surfaces etc). You can also bring any other handmade items such as crochet, jewelry, knitting, beading, quilting, sewing etc. as well as any type of item that is "gift worthy". You could also put together a basket of items. Anything handmade should be a finished item. Our brown bag exchange Saturday night is always a fun event. If you want to participate, bring a gift for exchange and you will receive one in return that was painted by another member. We put the items in a brown bag and no one knows until they open their bag what glorious gift they have received. The gift should be of at least $25 value and hand painted. We have a great variety of classes representing different mediums for you. Take a class within your comfort zone or come to learn something new. It s all here for you to enjoy. SSDA is a chapter of the national Society of Decorative Painters. Our retreat is open for anyone with an interest in painting. Registration deadline is January 17, Space is limited and you can register any time prior to this date but please register as soon as possible. This helps us reserve the needed number of rooms and helps the teachers as they prepare for your classes. All registration forms are available for download on our site: We can t wait to see everyone and hope you are as excited as all of us on the board and planning committees. Hugs,Marilyn Kerr SSDA President and Teacher Coordinator lynnpat1@comcast.net
