3 About Art workshops for schools, colleges and communities. Art workshops are available for young people and adults to gain experience and understanding within the arts, painting and other creative mediums. They aim to expand participants knowledge and culture and also develop analytical skills in research and theoretical artistic practice. Mentoring will also be incorporated for support and guidance alongside this. A second vision for these workshops is to enable young people who are disadvantaged or excluded from mainstream education to realise their potential and be given an opportunity to develop their skills and to achieve their ambitions. Additional information We can offer flexible sessions and can work within the school curriculum or provide art classes for schools. The school will need to provide the school curriculum beforehand to enable the artist to plan and prepare classes. Master Class The ethos behind the painting and drawing Master Class is to promote excellence to the pupils that have outstanding artistic ability from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. Pupils will engage with other gifted pupils from a range of different year groups and former students (Alumni). Artist workshops with professional or emerging artist/designers will give an insight into the arts industry. This will help develop technical skills, and enhance the creativity of those pupils who are pursuing higher grades. Pupils are selected to join the Master Class by careful observation by Mr Butler. 4 WORKSHOP SUBJECT MATTER The workshops are adaptable for all ages and cultures and, for people that may have an extensive or no understanding of art. For people that have a greater interest in art the workshops can engage and expand their creative practice. The workshops provided are delivered in a fresh and dynamic way to fulfill the needs of the community. In Depth Development A four-day workshop for participants to be taught the techniques of shapes and forms, experimental colour mixing, graffiti art expression and fashion designing Full Creative Blast A five-day workshop for participants to be taught and expand their creative ability, all subjects will be taught. Graffiti Art History Tutorial A one-day session where participants are educated on the origins of graffiti art from Egypt to the present day, and the social impact of this art form in today s society. 8 MICHAEL BUTLER summer art workshop AUGUST 2011 Congratulations to everyone who participated in the summer graffiti art workshop at the Saltwells Youth Centre. The day was full of energy, creativity and was jammed packed with over 75 participants on the day.
