Find at least 5 artworks that show Photorealism with still life as a subject matter. Attach the images into your sketchbook with the name of the artist listed underneath. Choose a wide variety of still life ideas in your sketchbook. 2. Set up a still life of objects with a theme in mind. 3. Take 5-10 pictures of your still life from different angles. Think about composition and focal point as you take your photos. 4. Print out your favorite picture full size on 8.5 x11 paper. Attach this picture into your sketchbook for safekeeping. We are working from a photo on this project because it is inspired by PHOTOREALISM! 5. Practice colored pencil techniques using the Color Predictor and Practice Shapes worksheets from the Janie Gildow video. Activity #8: Creation of Project 1. Draw your thumbnail drawing up to scale on newsprint paper. Work out all the details for the final drawing, but do not spend time adding in textures or colors. 2. Transfer your drawing to hot press paper very lightly with pencil. Make sure not to incise lines into the paper. 3. Begin building the tonal colors and shades into your piece first. Work from general to specific! 4. Then begin adding in the local colors to the piece. Only burnish when necessary and use the white of the paper to your advantage. Use other techniques, such as mark- making and mineral spirits to help you achieve the correct textures in your piece.
