There will be a discussion in the future as to whether we will continue refreshments prior to the meetings. This month is the quilt show. Quilt entry forms are due 10/01/2016. So far we only have a few quilts entered. Please put quilt dimensions on the entry form. Sign up sheets will be available at the October meeting. Please sign up to help at the show. Please be thinking of serving as an officer next year. We are all busy, but it doesn t take much time to serve and it s fun. This is a great way to get to know the members. 3 2016 Quilt Show October 29, 2016 A non-judged show to promote the quilting craft to the community. Linda Burnett, show chairperson Page 3 We will need your help to sell the tickets for the donation quilt. Sign-up sheets available to help with the show Thanks to all who have volunteered to help with the show. Sharron Hearod distributed the patterns for the 2017 Opportunity quilt. The house blocks are due at the November meeting. Sharron reminded us, the patterns are original and to make copies before using. Tidbit: Use hair clips to hold binding in place while you hand stitch. Move the clips down the binding as you sew. The McAlester Hospital is giving out 6-10 quilts per month to mothers of newborns. Thanks to all who have made quilts for this continuing community project. Home Made Corn Dogs (16) Ingredients: Equipment: 1-quart oil 1-quart oil 1 cup flour Tall glass or quart Mason Jar ¼ cup baking powder 16 hotdogs 1 cup corn meal 16 wooden skewers 1 cup milk 1 egg ¼ teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper Mix all ingredients. Put some batter in a tall glass or mason jar. Dry hotdogs and put on skewers. Dip into batter. Heat oil to 365. Fry 2 hotdogs at a time until golden brown.

Please be packed & ready to leave the facility on or before 11:00 am Sunday. Cost: $140 per camper. Payment guarantees your space & is due at the time of registration. Please contact the camp director if you re unable to attend camp. If we have a wait-list, we will be glad to help you find a replacement. Unless a replacement is found, THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS. If you are on our wait-list we do not deposit your check until there is an opening. What is provided: Lodging, meals, beverages to include water, tea, lemonade, fruit punch, coffee, (beginning with lunch on Thursday & ending with a continental breakfast on Sunday), sewing tables, community cutting & ironing stations. The bunkhouse has 12 beds per room with a bathroom/shower area. There are four rooms to a bunkhouse. We use two bunkhouses. Suggested items to bring: Sewing machine, extension cord, personal sewing chair (opt), bedding, towels & shower items, flashlight, ear plugs. A COVERED CUP IS RE- QUIRED in the SEWING AREA. Beds are hard, mattress pad or sleeping bag may be needed to sleep on. Be kind to your neighbor, remember you share a conference table with one camper, so be conservative when bringing the items you need to work on your personal project(s). Vendor(s): Available for your shopping convenience. Swimming: The swimming pool will be available for our use. NO SWIMMING ALONE, always take a buddy with you. Massage: Lynn Wieck will be at camp again this year. A signup sheet will be available at camp. Please pay Lynn directly. Cash is appreciated.
