21 create your Style with SwaroVSKi elements Design project Mother s Day Flower Scarf Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: cut the cream white crepe into a square of 75 x 75 cm size. Fold the top border over 3 mm two times and pin as shown in the illustration. cut 1 m of the cotton yarn and start sewing the border, starting at either end. leave about 2 cm of yarn hanging out and make 4 stitches in the same spot to secure the yarn. cut the short thread with scissors. Stitch through approximately 5 mm of the unfolded crepe and then sew through the folded border. remove the pins as you go. continue in the same way until you stitch to the end of this side. repeat steps 2 & 3 to stitch the other three borders. Step 4 & 5: cut out the three patterns as shown in step 4 and adhere double sided tape to all three. (Save this stencil for later use.) Step 6: Step: Step 8: Step 9: Step 10: Step 11: Step 12: adhere flower 1 and 3 onto the light green crepe satin and cut both flowers out of the material. remove the paper pattern. repeat step 6 with flower cut out # 2 and the lilac crepe satin. place the stencil from step 4 onto the bottom left corner of the scarf exactly. position the three flower cut- outs from steps 6 & 7 onto the scarf with the help of the stencil and pin. remove the stencil. repeat steps 5-6 with the new flower template # 4. cut this flower out of the blue crepe. repeat steps 8-9 to position the blue flower # 4 onto the scarf with the help of the stencil created in the last step as shown in the illustration. repeat steps 5-6 again, using the new flower template for flowers # 5 & 6, this time on light green crepe. Step 13: repeat steps 8-9 in placing flowers # 5 and # 6 onto the scarf with the help of the stencil you made from step 12. Step 14: Step 15: Step 16: Step 17: Step 18: Step 19: Step 20: Step 21: Step 22: using a basting stitch, tack the flowers onto the scarf and cut off the left over thread after making a knot from it below the scarf. (this thread will be removed in the last step.) Mark the embroidery points with the help of pins and the pattern as shown in the illustration. thread a needle with 50 cm of a nylon thread. Stitch from the back to the front as shown in the illustration. leave approximately 15 cm of thread hanging in the back. Stitch over to the back side again with a 0.5 mm gap from the stitch of origin. Make 4 back stitches and then stitch again to the front side, removing the first pin. Slide the following Swarovski Beads onto the thread: article mm 6 times, 4 mm once, 6 mm - once, 4 mm once, 3 mm - 6 times (as shown). after the last Swarovski Bead is inserted, stitch back through to the back of the scarf where the second pin marker lies, as pictured in the illustration. repeat step 17 making 4 back stitches. Stitch needle to the front side at the point of origin removing the second pin. go back through the Swarovski Beads to the beginning spot and stitch to back side as shown. repeat step 17 making two back stitches and then make a knot with 15 cm thread, left over from the beginning. Stitch needle to the front side with one of the threads and as seen in the second picture in this step & go back through some of the Swarovski Beads. repeat this for the other thread end too and as seen in the last picture of step 21. trim the remaining threads. repeat steps to make 9 more of these Swarovski Bead strands. remove the basting stitches holding the flowers by snipping the basting thread and gently pull it out through the scarf. 21/21
