2 SUPPLIES x 12 square piece of front fabric x 12 square piece of back fabric x 11.5 square piece of batting of crochet trim 5. 9 pieces of 3 x 3 fabric squares for heart shapes 6. 9 pieces of 3 x 3 light weight interfacing squares for heart shapes (or 1/4 yard) 7. 3 strands of embroidery floss or perle cotton size 8 TOOLS 1. Point turner 2. Hera marker or erasable pen like Frixion 3. Washable glue stick (Elmer s works great) 4. Pins 5. Round template and heart template (included with this pattern) 6. Quilt basting spray is optional TRIMMING AND ASSEMBLY - USE A 1/4 SEAM ALLOWANCE Trace the round template provided with this pattern over the corners of the front and back fabric as well as the batting, and trim. FRONT BACK BATTING And you ll end up with nice rounded corners like these!

3 TRIMMING AND ASSEMBLY CONTINUED 3 Baste stitch the crochet trim to the right side of the front fabric, and make sure to tuck the ends towards the edge so that they won t show once you turn your mini right side out. Please note that the crochet trim should be facing in towards the center of the front fabric. After you have baste stitched the crochet trim around the whole front piece of fabric, place the back fabric wrong side up on top. Then center the batting on top of the wrong side of the back fabric. Dab a little bit of glue on the cornes and center to keep the batting from shifting. You can also use quilt basting spray. You will now have a little quilt sandwich. Stop Sew around the quilt sandwich, making sure to sew right along the edge of the batting, with a 1/4 seam allowance. Leave a 4 opening on one side for turning your quilt sandwich inside out. Start Turn your quilt sandwich inside out and your crochet trim should now be facing out like this. Make sure the batting is laying flat between the front and back fabric. Close up the opening with a slip stitch on the back so your crochet trim will hide the stitches.

4 MARKING THE QUILTING LINES 4 Use your hera marker or erasable pen to mark the following lines on the top of your mini quilt. 1. Start by marking the two yellow lines going from corner to corner. 2.Then measure 2.5 from the yellow lines to mark the four blue lines. 3. And measure another 2.5 from the yellow lines to mark the four pink lines.

5 MAKING THE HEART APPLIQUES 5 Take a 3 square fabric piece and a 3 square interfacing piece and place the fabric facing right side together with the interfacing. Trace a heart shape on the back of the fabric with the template provided and sew on the traced line. Trim away the excess fabric around the heart, leaving about 1/8 to 1/4 of fabric around. (the white line around the heart on the left) Make a little snip close to the sew line where the heart shape dips at the top. Be careful not to cut on the sew line! After you re done trimming, flip the heart around so that the interfacing side is facing up. cut slit interfacing side up Cut a little slit in the interfacing with sharp scissors, being careful not to cut the fabric as well! Then turn your heart inside out and use your point turner to shape the heart, being careful not to pierce the interfacing. Now you have one perfect heart shape done! Repeat the above steps for the remaining 8 hearts and then press.

6 PLACING THE HEARTS ON THE QUILT TOP 6 Place your heart shapes on the intersecting lines as seen below by dabbing a little bit of glue or by pinning. Applique the hearts to the quilt top. Using 3 strands of embroidery floss or one strand of perle cotton size 8, hand quilt on the drawn lines using a running stitch. Hand quilt an outline around the hearts and the border for added detail as seen on the mini on the cover page.
