2 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 2 of 8 Cutting Cutting Instructions Please Note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted. WOF= Width of Fabric LOF = Length of Fabric Fabric A ( Meadowlark Patchwork Stone), cut: (1) 22 ½ x 34 ½ strip. Fussy cut (18) 4 ½ squares. Fussy cut (4) 5 ½ squares. Fabric B ( Shadow Weave Cocoa Brown), cut: (2) 1 x 34 ½ strips. (2) 1 x 23 ½ strips. (3) 1 x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and cut (2) 1 x 47 ½ strips. (2) 1 x 36 ½ strips. (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (9) 4 ⅞ squares. (7) 2 ½ x WOF strips for the binding. Fabric C ( Houndstooth Rose), cut: (2) 1 x 35 ½ strips. (2) 1 x 24 ½ strips. (3) 1 x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and cut (2) 1 x 46 ½ strips. (2) 1 x 35 ½ strips. Fabric D ( Houndstooth Stone), cut: (2) 5 ½ x 36 ½ strips. (2) 5 ½ x 24 ½ strips. Fabric E ( Monotone Floral Stone), cut: (9) 2 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (144) 2 ½ squares. Fabric F ( Monotone Floral Early Green), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (9) 4 ⅞ squares. Fabric G ( Medallion Rose), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (12) 4 ⅞ squares. Fabric H ( Shadow Weave Cantaloupe), cut: (4) 4 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (36) 4 ½ squares. Fabric I ( Houndstooth Orchid), cut: (9) 2 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (144) 2 ½ squares. Fabric J ( Medallion Stone), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (10) 4 ⅞ squares. Fabric K ( Monotone Floral Rose), cut: (4) 4 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (36) 4 ½ squares. See instructions to cut (36) Flowers. Fabric L ( Shadow Weave Moss), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (10) 4 ⅞ squares.

Note: Press fusible to back of fabric before cutting vines. See instructions to cut (76) Leaves. Backing (2823-22 Houndstooth Rose), cut: (2) 68 x WOF strips.

Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows. Center Block Assembly 1.

Sew (1) 1 x 23 ½ Fabric B strip to the top and bottom of the Fabric A strip to make the center block (Fig. 1). 2. Sew (1) 1 x 35 ½ Fabric C strip to each side of the center block.

Following the manufacturer s instructions, trace the listed number of leaf and flowers templates onto the paper side of the fusible web.

3 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 3 of 8 Cutting - Continued Fabric M ( Medallion Orchid), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (16) 4 ⅞ squares. Fabric N ( Shadow Weave Orchid), cut: (2) 4 ⅞ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (10) 4 ⅞ squares. (4) ⅜ x 40 vines on the bias. Note: Press fusible to back of fabric before cutting vines. See instructions to cut (76) Leaves. Backing ( Houndstooth Rose), cut: (2) 68 x WOF strips. Sewing Sew using a ¼ seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows. Center Block Assembly 1. Sew (1) 1 x 34 ½ Fabric B strip to each side of the 22 ½ x 34 ½ Fabric A strip. Sew (1) 1 x 23 ½ Fabric B strip to the top and bottom of the Fabric A strip to make the center block (Fig. 1). 2. Sew (1) 1 x 35 ½ Fabric C strip to each side of the center block. Sew (1) 1 x 24 ½ Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of the center block (Fig. 2). 3. Following the manufacturer s instructions, trace the listed number of leaf and flowers templates onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about ⅛ outside the drawn lines. Fig. 1 Fig Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines. 5. Refer to Figure 3 to gently curve (1) ⅜ x 40 Fabric N strip onto (1) 5 ½ x 36 ½ Fabric D strip and press in place to make the vine. Trim any excess. Repeat to make (2) 5 ½ x 36 ½ borders and (2) 5 ½ x 24 ½ borders. Arrange the (36) flowers and (76) leaves on the borders as shown to complete the appliqued borders. Fig Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch to complete the appliqued borders.

Repeat to make a second strip and sew the strips to the top and bottom of the center block (Fig. 4). 8.

Sew (1) 1 x 35 ½ Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of the center block (Fig. 5). 9.

Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 7). Sew ¼ away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 7). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig.

Repeat to make a second strip and sew the strips to the top and bottom of the center block (Fig. 4). 8. Sew (1) 1 x 46 ½ Fabric C strip to each side of the center block. Sew (1) 1 x 35 ½ Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of the center block (Fig. 5). 9. Sew (1) 1 x 47 ½ Fabric B strip to each side of the center block. Place (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric L square on top of (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric M square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 7). Sew ¼ away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 7). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 8) to make (2) LM units (Fig. 9). Trim the LM units to measure 4 ½ square. Follow Step 10 using (5) 4 ⅞ Fabric G square and (5) 4 ⅞ Fabric F square to make (10) 4 ½ GF units. 13. Follow Step 10 using (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric G square and (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric N square to make (2) GN units. (NOTE: You will only use (1) of the units.) 14. Follow Step 10 using (4) 4 ⅞ Fabric J squares and (4) 4 ⅞ Fabric B squares to make (8) 4 ½ JB units. 15. Follow Step 10 using (4) 4 ⅞ Fabric J squares and (4) 4 ⅞ Fabric F squares to make (8) JF units. (NOTE: You will only use (7) of the JF units.) 16. Follow Step 10 using (5) 4 ⅞ Fabric G squares and (5) 4 ⅞ Fabric B squares to make (10) GB units.

Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 10).

Follow Step 10 using (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric G square and (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric L squares to make (2) GL units. (NOTE: You will only use (1) of the GL units.) 19. Follow Step 10 using (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric J square and (1) 4 ⅞ Fabric N square to make (2) JN units. (NOTE: You will only use (1) of the JN units.) 20. Place (1) 2 ½ Fabric E square on the top left corner of (1) 4 ½ Fabric H square, right sides together (Fig. 10). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 10). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 11). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼" away from the sewn seam. Fig. 10 Fig. 11 Fig Follow Figure 12 for the seam direction to add a 2 ½ Fabric E square to the upper right corner of the 4 ½ Fabric H square. Fig. 13 Fig Follow Figure 13 for the seam direction to sew (1) 2 ½ Fabric I square to each of the lower left and lower right corners of the 4 ½ Fabric H square to make one HIE block (Fig. 14). 23. Repeat Steps to make (36) HIE blocks total. 24. Repeat Steps to using (36) 4 ½ Fabric K squares, (72) 2 ½ Fabric I squares and (72) 2 ½ Fabric E squares to make (36) KIE blocks total. Quilt Top Assembly 25. Follow Figure 15 and sew (16) LM units, (16) NM units and (14) HIE blocks to make (2) 4 ½ x 48 ½ side borders and (2) 4 ½ x 44 ½ Top/Bottom Borders. Sew the borders to the center block to make the quilt top. Fig. 15

6 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 6 of Follow Figure 16 and sew (4) HIE blocks, (32) KIE blocks and (18) 4 ½ Fabric A squares together to make (2) 4 ½ x 56 ½ side borders and (2) 4 ½ x 52 ½ Top/Bottom Borders. Sew the borders to the quilt top. Fig. 16

7 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 7 of Follow Figure 17 and sew (18) HIE blocks, (4) KIE blocks and remaining half-square triangles squares together to make (2) 4 ½ x 64 ½ side borders and (2) 4 ½ x 60 ½ Top/Bottom Borders. Sew the borders to the quilt top. Fig. 17

STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 8 of 8 Layering, Quilting and Finishing 28. Sew the (2) 68 x WOF strips together and trim to make (1) 68 x 80 backing piece. 29. Press the quilt top and backing well.

Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding 30. Cut the ends of the (7) Fabric B binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. 31. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place. Templates 2014 Studio e Fabrics
