1 SINGER Stock design CD Wall Quilt Our SINGER Stock design CD embroidery quilt can be done on any embroidery machine that uses a 5 x 7 hoop. (The SINGER Futura will work with some block resizing) The format is DST, which most embroidery software will recognize. The printable templates and layouts make the transition from design to sew out easy. Just remember to center your hoop over the cross hairs. You will need: Singer Stock design CD of 3900 designs At least 3 1/2 yards of top background fabric for a 6 block wall quilt- each block is 20 finished. Each border is cut 6 across the 45 width of the fabric. For a 6 block wall quilt cut 9 strips for border. At least 3 1/2 yards of background 45 fabric 1 yard of fabric for binding and corner stones Focus print large enough to cut designs from for appliqué. Buy 1 yard. Sharp large and small scissors 2 yards Wonder Under Threads for embroidery- we used Robison Anton rayon mini king spools and some of the numbers were 2375, 2510,2563, 2574, 2591, 2293, 2229 Sulky bobbin thread Sulky for free motion applique Sewing thread Machine quilting thread 9 wide Fab u bond stabilizer- one roll Fusible batting for quilt 11 circle template safety pins awl washable blue marker and ruler computer and printer I suggest you load Acrobat reader and print out all the PDF file design templates and all the quilt block layouts. We have placed a copy of the reader on this CD for you to open and use. Once you print off the templates and layouts, tape together the full block layout. Cut the cross hairs marks with an awl. This will make marking the block easier. Place the individual design templates over the layouts, line up the templates and cut the positioning crosshairs with an awl through the layout printing. Once you are finished with the templates, place them all in a notebook for easy reference throughout the construction of this quilt. Most designs are the same size as the design found on the CD. In a few cases you may have to resize a design to match our templates. We cannot give you the designs, as they are copyright material. 2 Here is a list of the design numbers. Designs were found in the border and floral sections. Make a file folder on your computer called Singer CD quilt. To load the designs to your computer file, insert the stock design CD and click on the category and find the design. Click on the open white box next to the design to select it. Next download the selection to your file folder. All designs are DST. Most you will have to recolor. We suggest picking a color theme using one green, and 3 shades of one color. The design list is: Bora3010 Borb3022 Borf2011 Plfl1028 Plfl1057 Plfl1061 Plfl1063 Plfl1069 Plfl1070 Plfl1077 Plfl2024 If you have the SINGER Quantum XL6000 you should either load a smart card with the designs or send your first design to the machine via the conversion tool. If your machine is the SINGER Futura you can open them in the software. Make sure you center the designs. Designs are DST. You will need to recolor them if you wish to understand the correct sewing order. We have prepared a brief instructional CD on how to use the SINGER Stock design CD. You will need to cut at least 6 22 fabric squares to embroider. Cut 9 9 (6 if using the continuous SINGER hoop) wide strips for the borders. Press a fusible stabilizer like Fabubond or Totally Stable to the back of each fabric square and to the border strips. Draw a center line down the border strips. Mark a center cross with a wash away blue marker on the 22 squares. Using your layout template and blue fabric marker align the layout center over the marked crosshairs on your quilt block or border strip. Mark the design center locations on the fabric and connect the dots of the crosshairs. You are now ready to embroider. If you are using the XL6000 I suggest you use the multi-hoop on the lace block to help get the marked crosshairs lined up perfectly when doing the embroidery. Use the 9 strips to make at least 260 of border fabric. Trim 4 finished border strips. If you own a SINGER Futura use a period from the text program to mark the joining position at the beginning and end of the border designs. Print the template. Hoop a Wash away stabilizer and advance through the design sew the period on the Wash away. Keep

3 the stabilizer hoped and spray the quilt block with KK2000. Using the template, mark the fabric and then align the dots to line up the adjoining design. Use this same method to center all embroidery for the Futura. Open the design, change the color and go to the text button. Type in the period. Keep the period on the center dot. Save as. When sewing, advance throught the colors to the period and sew it on the hooped Wash Away stabilizer. Keeping the stabilizer hooped, use the spray adhesive and position the fabricblock so the period template mark is over the sewn period. Now your block is centered as shown by the template. Finish the embroidery using the templates. Using the 11 circle and built-in decorative stitches, we embellished several of the embroidered blocks. Since each machine is different check our pictures to see what stitches resemble the ones we used. This displayed quilt was sewn using the Singer XL6000. To Make the Quilt: 1. Fuse the appliqué fabric and cut out the appliqué flowers. 2. To finish the quilt I suggest you mark a 20 square on the square and trim the blocks to 20. I used a marker and marked a 20 square on my cutting mat so visually see and trim the blocks by for accuracy. I also trimmed the borders to a 4 width keeping the embroidery centered. The borders were then trimmed to the same width as the blocks. 3. Cut 4 corner stones from the binding fabric. 4. Cut 6-3 strips of binding across the 45 width of fabric. Piece end to end and press in half lengthwise. 5. Embroider each block and place the fusible appliqués in the corners. Using the Sulky , free motion the appliqués in place with straight stitch. Tear off all excess stabilizers and wash away any markings once trimmed. 6. Seam the blocks together with borders to form 3 down with a border at each end. Do 2 strips. Piece the strips together. Sew corner stones to the ends of the remaining borders and piece to form 3 border strips. See the picture of the finished quilt below. 7. Fuse the batting to the wrong side of the quilt 8. Cut 2 2 yard lengths of backing and seam on one side to create a back that is bigger than the quilt. Trim the batting to match the backing and lay the pieced quilt on top. Fuse all layers together. SINGER 8. Quilt and bind the wall quilt. See the pictures below
