1 Boiled Wool Bowl By Marie Duncan Make a boiled wool bowl using design from HUSQVARNA VIKING collection 210. The raw edges of the wool give a fun, fuzzy look and contrast nicely with the shiny embroidery! 2 Cut: From green wool: One rectangle for embroidery 10 long x 27 wide One rectangle for lining 7 long x 23 wide Two circles using template given From INSPIRA In-R-Form batting alternative: One rectangle 4¾ long x 22½ wide One circle using template given Embroider: 1. Thread with 40 wt. rayon thread on top and bobbin thread in the bobbin. These designs are digitized for 30 wt. cotton thread, but you can also use 40 wt. rayon. We chose the rayon for the sheen. 2. Bring up design Hoop with Cut-A-Way stabilizer. 4. Embroider the first repeat. We created an ombre effect by starting with three colors that are shown here to the right. The next set of designs we dropped the brightest (the one to the far right) and added the next one to the left. We continued dropping the right hand one and adding the left hand one until we completed four repeats of the design. 5. Continue embroidery until you have four repeats of the design stitched. 6. Trim the embroidered piece to 7 x 23 with the embroidery centered (you will be cutting off one flower). Sew: 1. Snap on your Three Hole Yarn Foot. Thread with yarn. 2. Select stitch X1: Tear two 1 wide strips of cranberry wool. Cut to 23 long. 4. Place a torn strip of cranberry wool under the foot with Tear-A-Way stabilizer underneath. 5. Stitch down the center of each strip. 6. Snap on your A foot. Page 2 of 4

3 7. Place the sewn strip on the embroidered strip with the torn edge even with the edge of the embroidered flower. 8. Select stitch A1: Stitch the strip in place on each side of the decorative stitching keeping the edge of the foot even with the torn edge of the strip. 10. Place the embroidered outside piece right sides together with the lining. 11. Thread with sewing thread top and bobbin. 12. Snap on your Clear ¼ Piecing Foot w/guide. 13. Stitch one long edge. This will become the top edge of the bowl. 14. Fold the joined piece right sides together matching the seams and the decorative stitching. Pin. 15. Stitch the seam, creating a circle. 16. Select stitch A1: Butt the two short edges of the INSPIRA In-R-Form batting alternative together, forming a circle. 18. Stitch using the bridging stitch. 19. Insert the INSPIRA In-R-Form inside the bowl and pin in place. You need a seam allowance of approximately ½ with fabric only. 20. Attach your Interchangeable Dual Feed. Snap on the Changeable Open Toe Foot. 21. Stitch on each side of the Three Hole Yarn stitch securing the layers together. 22. Sandwich the the INSPIRA In-R-Form circle between the two wool circles. Be sure the INSPIRA In-R-Form is centered, leaving approximately a ½ seam allowance all the way around. 23. Snap on the Changeable Zig Zag Foot. 24. Align the edge of the foot with the edge of the circle as shown. 25. Stitch around the circle. 26. Pin the circle in place on the bottom of the bowl. The seam will be on the outside. Page 3 of 4
