2 What you will need... V7 Sewing and Embroidery Machine! Squared Fabric Plain cotton fabric for backing Satin for lining Wadding Embroidery Thread, to match fabric colour Sewing thread Embroidery Backing Bias Binding

3 Front Cover Embroidery Positioning Measure your tablet and add 1.5cm around each side for your seam allowance - do not cut your fabric to this size yet as you may have to use a big embroidery hoop for your chosen front design. Mark the measurments with chalk/wash away pen On your squared fabric, select where to make the centre of your cover front and back. I chose the centre of the darker square on my fabric. Mark the centre using chalk/wash away pen Attach your Embroidery Laser Pointer foot and plug in at the back

4 Front Cover Embroidery Positioning Hoop up your fabric and embroidery backing with your central point in the hoop Choose your embroidery design, I chose a beautiful new Zundt design and changed the colours to match my fabric Use the colour pallet button and scroll through the colours in the design, change each colour and see the results on screen! 5 Front Cover Embroidery Positioning When you re happy with your design, go into Embroidery mode and select the Laser Embroidery Foot button You will now see the laser appear on the fabric! This marks the centre of the design Using the arrows on the screen, move the laser to the central point we marked earlier

6 Front Cover Embroidery Positioning Stitch your design out. I used Brother metalic gold thread for one of my colours for a hint of luxury

7 Back Cover Laser Line Guide and Direct Dual Feed Now to the back cover. Go to normal sewing mode note you can sew with the embroidery unit still attached! Attach your Direct Dual Feed Foot and plug in at the back Select a central straight stitch and select the Laser Line the laser now appears on the machine and on the screen Using the Plus and Minus on screen, move the laser to 3.5mm which is in line with the straight stitch selected

8 Back Cover Laser Line Guide and Direct Dual Feed Layer up your squared fabric, wadding and cotton backing and pin together Starting with the central square, use the laser line to help guide a diagonal sewing line from one corner of the square to the opposite corner Next, move the laser line to -1mm using the Plus and Minus on screen. Reposition the fabric to the left so the laser is now lined up with the first sewn line. Sew another line to the right of the first Repeat this process until you reach the edge of the square, not going over the sides of the square

9 Back Cover Laser Line Guide and Direct Dual Feed When one half has been completed, turn the fabric 180 and begin the same process the other side of the first central line, to fill the square with lines Once completed, turn the fabric 90 and do the same across the other way For the first line set the laser to 3.5mm again STAR TIP for neat finishes and to save time, highlight the scissors, lock and foot buttons on the screen. When the stop button is pressed on the machine, it will lock stitch, cut your threads and lift the foot all in one go! Foot Lock Scissors Stop Button

10 Back Cover Laser Line Guide and Direct Dual Feed Next is the four squares touching the corners of the first Sew the first line as normal, down the middle, corner to corner using the laser on 3.5mm setting. Stitch your lines coming away from the central square Now set the laser to -3.5mm and sew more lines to the right of the first etc... Only sew lines one way this time. Repeat this for the other 3 squares

11 Ultrasonic Pen The Ultrasonic Pen has many functions, selecting your needle position, laser line position and embroidery positioning to name a few! For this project we ll use it to make a perfect width zig-zag for satin stitching around the squares. Plug your pen in on the right side of the machine First job is to collaborate your pen if you re using for the first time. Go to page 6 in your settings and press Sensor Function Calibration Follow instructions on screen and, when prompted, touch pen on two green points on the machine bed Settings

12 Ultrasonic Pen Select a zig-zag stitch and select the Pen button Select the zig-zag option and follow the on screen instructions - placing the fabric under the foot and select two points with the pen on the fabric. This will determine the width of the zig-zag My zig-zag was about 2.5mm wide to cover the edging of the squares Shorten the zig-zag on screen to 0.3/0.2mm Notice how the stitch image is shown on screen Zig-zag Option Pen Button

13 Ultrasonic Pen Sew your satin stitch zig-zag along each of the squared edges on the back and then do the same on the front with wadding and cotton backing underneath, working around the embroidery design Again, I used Brother metallic gold thread for this

14 Construction When you are happy and ready to construct your cover, trim the front and back to your original measurements your tablet size plus 1.5cm around all edges Cut the satin fabric to the same measurements for the lining Layer and pin the cover front and back cover (right sides together) then the lining front and back (right sides together). Lay the lining on top of the cover. So you should have four layers on top of each other Starting at a top corner, sew a 1cm seam down the long side of the cover, around and back up the other side. Don t sew across the top Now you can trim the seams down to help reduce the bulk and bag out the cover so the lining is now inside Finish the top edge with some bias binding catching in all the layers
