1 Quilt Block Christmas Stockings Instructions You Will Need to Stitch out - Per Stocking: 2 x Christmas Quilt Block Design 1 x Heel Design a 1 x Heel Design b 1 x Toe Design a 1 x Toe Design b * These instructions are for all Four Quilt Block Christmas Stockings. nstructions/method for the Quilt Blocks. All the Quilt Blocks are completed in the same way. Quilt Blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4 1. Hoop a Double layer of Tear Away Stabiliser. Stitch out the First Colour - This will be an outline of the quilt block. Materials: Thin Batting Tear Away Stabilizer - I use a double layer Printed Polyester Christmas fabric Plain Polyest fabric Specialty fabric such as velvet or velour (optional) Embroidery Thread - I used Marathon Fabric Adhesive - such as 505

2 2. Place a thin piece of batting onto the hoop. Place a piece of Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric or Specialty Fabric on top of the batting. If necessary use fabric adhesive to hold it in place. 3. Stitch out the second and third Colour: Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

3 Christmas Quilt Block 3 Christmas Quilt Block 4 4. Place a piece of Printed or Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric on top of Plain fabric / Specialty Fabric Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

4 Christmas Quilt Block 3 Christmas Quilt Block 4 5. Stitch out the next colour. Remove the hoop from the machine and cut away the excess printed / plain fabric. Take care not to cut any of the plain / specialty fabric. Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

6 Christmas Quilt Block 3 Christmas Quilt Block 4 7. Place a piece of Printed or Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric on top Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

7 Christmas Quilt Block 3 Christmas Quilt Block 4 8. Stitch out the next colour. Remove the hoop from the machine and cut away the excess printed / plain fabric. Take care not to cut any of the plain / specialty fabric. Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

8 Christmas Quilt Block 3 Christmas Quilt Block 4 9. Replace the hoop in the machine and stitch out the next colour Christmas Quilt Block 1 Christmas Quilt Block 2

9 10. Remove the hoop from the machine and turn it over so that the back is facing upwards. Place a piece of plain fabric onto the back of the hoop. Use fabric adhesive to hold it in place. Stitch out the next colour - this will be an outline of the quilt block. Remove the hoop from the machine and cut away the excess fabric from the front and the back of the hoop. Stitch a matching quilt block with a loop. For the piece with the loop, tape a piece of ribbon to the underside of the design before placing the piece of fabric.

10 11. Now stitch out the final colour. This will be the satin stitch edging around the edges. Toe Pieces Toe Design a and Toe Design b 1. Hoop a Double layer of Tear Away Stabiliser. Stitch out the First Colour - This will be an outline of the design piece. 2. Place a thin piece of batting onto the hoop. Place a piece of Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric on top of the batting. If necessary use fabric adhesive to hold it in place.

11 3. Stitch out the next two colours - the first will be an outline of the design piece and the second colour will be the writing in the design piece. 4. Remove the hoop from the machine and turn it over so that the back is facing upwards. Place a piece of Plain fabric on the back of the hoop. Use fabric adhesive to hold it in place. Stitch out the next colour.

12 5. Remove the hoop from the machine and trim away the excess fabric from the front and the back of the hoop. 6. Stitch out the final colour - this will be the satin stitch edging.

13 Heel Pieces Heel Design a and Heel Design b 1. Hoop a Double layer of Tear Away Stabiliser. Stitch out the First Colour - This will be an outline of the design piece. 2. Place a thin piece of batting onto the hoop. Place a piece of Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric on top of the batting. If necessary use fabric adhesive to hold it in place.

14 3. Stitch out the next two colours - the first will be an outline of the design piece and the second colour will outline the motif patch in the design piece. 4. Place a piece of Printed or Plain Polyester Cotton Fabric on top of Plain fabric

15 6. Stitch out the next colour. The edges the motif patch 7. Remove the hoop from the machine and turn it over so that the back is facing upwards. Place a piece of Plain fabric on the back of the hoop. Use fabric adhesiveto hold it in place. Stitch out the next colour.

17 5. Remove the hoop from the machine and trim away the excess fabric from the front and the back of the hoop. 6. Stitch out the final colour - this will be the satin stitch edging. Assembly of the Stocking All the stockings are put together in the same way. 1. Using a zig-zag stitch, stitch the Christmas Quilt Block to the Heel Design

18 2. Now stitch the matching Toe Design to these pieces. 3. Do the same with the other 3 pieces
