1 No title 1 / 13 CUPCAKE COAT-HANGER COVERS WITH POCKET and POT-POURRI BAGS Coat-Hanger covers for the 6 x 10 inch Hoop/150mm x 250mm Pot-pourri bags for the 4 x 4 inch Hoop/100mm x 100mm Method CENTRE FRONT AND CENTRE BACK Centre Back - this also has Lace but no Flower design. 1.Hoop 2 layers of Water-Soluble Stabilizer. This is for the centre piece of the Coat-hanger cover. It has lace on the front and back pieces. Materials: Polycotton, Organza or other similar fabrics Layer of fine netting ororganza for the Lining and Organza for the Potpourri Bags Marathon Threads as per colour-chart or own choice Pins for holding Fabric; Magic Tape for holding ribbon on potppourri bag in place 2 layers of Water-Soluble Vilene/Stabilizer for centre of hanger cover (Lace) Cut-away Stabilizer for side

2 No title 2 / 13 pieces of hanger cover Sharp-pointed Embroidery Scissors Ribbon for finishing coathanger cover as well as for the potpourri bag 6inch x 10inch Hoop/150mm x 250mm Hoop 2.Stitch the lace of the pattern piece. The machine will also stitch out the outline for the material placement.

3 No title 3 / Material placement - Cut fabric a little larger than the outline of the top of the "cup-cake" and pin in place. Please keep pins out of the way of the sewing-area. 4. The machine will now stitch the outline of this piece. 5. Trim back the fabric of this piece to the stitching line. The lace will show. Please be careful not to cut any of these threads. Trim fabric back to sewing line.

4 No title 4 / 13 Your work should look like this. 6. Now stitch the embroidery design. 7. Cut a layer of fine netting bigger than the entire design - including the lace - and pin in place. This is the lining and is done on the underside of the embroidery. Please turn the hoop over to the wrong side to do this.

5 No title 5 / Stitch the netting (this is the lining) in place. Trim the netting round the outer edge of the design when stitched.

6 No title 6 / Now make the pocket. First turn the Hoop over so that the underside of the Hoop faces you. Take a piece of Organza, double the size of the bottom half of the cup-cake. Fold the organza in half and place it so that the fold is at the top edge. Please see photo. The folded edge is not pinned. Pin in place away from stitching area. 10. Stitch in place.

7 No title 7 / Trim back to stitching line. Now complete the design with the satin-stitched edging This is the right side. Completed with the satin-stitch edging.

8 No title 8 / 13 This is the underneath side showing the pocket and the satinstitch edging. POT-POURRI BAG Hoop 4 x 4 inch/100mm x 100m 1. Hoop 2 layers of Water-Soluble Stabiliser. Stitch the outline of the little bag with the lace edging onto the stabilizer.

9 No title 9 / The machine will stitch 4 marker lines at the same time for the placement of the 2 pieces of fabric. There are 2 marker lines on the left and 2 on the right.

10 No title 10 / Take a piece of Organza. It must be at least 11 inches square folded in half. This allows for pinning in place away from the stitching area. As before, the fold must be at the top. The organza must cover the top marker stitching lines. When stitched it will have 2 marker lines on the left and 2 on the right. Please see photo below. When pinned in place. Stitch. At the same time the machine will stitch out the little Rose-bud. 4. Trim back the Organza on the sides and bottom as shown. 5.Take another piece of Organza a little narrower than before. Fold in half. Place the Folded edge just below the bottom marker line. The Folded edge is held in place with Magic Tape. Please see photo below. The cut edge is held in place with pins.

11 No title 11 / Stitch in place. Trim as before. 7.Backing piece for the Pot-pourri bag: Cut a piece of Organza

12 No title 12 / 13 larger than the design, to allow for pinning in place. Turn the Hoop over. Take this piece of Organza, place it over the design, pin in place away from the stitching area. Put the Hoop back in the machine and stitch in place. Trim this Organza back to the stitching line. Now cut a piece of narrow matching ribbon about 20cm/8inches long. Fold in half. Turn the Hoop over and put in place with Magic Tape. Similarly hold the loop in place too. 8. Now do the Satin-stitch edging. The ribbon will stitch in place with the Satin-stitch edging. 9. Remove the embroidery from the Hoop. Remove the Magic Tape. Carefully cut away the stabilizer. Be careful not to cut the ribbon off. Rinse out the WSS and dry.

13 No title 13 / 13 SIDE PIECES 4pieces - 2 left and 2 right 1. Use Tear-Away Stabilizer. 2. Stitch the outline of the design onto the Stabilizer. 3. Cut fabric a little larger than the design. Pin in place away from the stitching area. 4.Stitch the Fabric in place and stitch the floral design. 5. Turn the Hoop over and cut a piece of netting for the lining. 6. Pin in place as before. 7. Stitch in place and stitch the buttonholes for the ribbon. 8. Trim fabric back to the stitching line. 9. Do the satin stitch edging. When done, stitch a left and right side to the centre front. Stitch a left and right side to the centre back. Use zig-zag stitch on your sewing machine. Cut open the button-holes and thread ribbon through. Loop the pot-pourri ribbon round the hook of the coat-hanger and tuck the little bag into the pocket of the coat-hanger cover. Fill the bag with a little pot-pourri if you have OR take a piece of cotton-wool with a drop or two of aromatherapy oil on and tuck the cotton-wool into the little bag.
