1 The medium composition book can be made in a single 8 x 12 hoop or in two 6 x 10 hoops. Noteables: Medium Composition Books {Double Hoop Version} Kimberbell Noteables are composition book covers that turn ordinary writing paper into a noteworthy journal. Each cover is fully lined and reusable. One of the medium sizes features an embroidered affirmation: Follow Your Heart. Fabric makes the notebook durable enough for a hiking adventure or a pretty travel daybook. double hoop version We love to see what you create! 2 Prepare the Following: Press the two 8 ½ x 7 pocket pieces, wrong sides together, to measure 3 ½ x 8 ½. Corresponds with the specific on your embroidery machine. Indicates thread color change. Embroider the Following: 1. Part 1: The Back Hoop stabilizer only, in the appropriate size hoop. Load the Part 1 file. 3. Place the back-cover fabric right side up, covering the entire placement line. NOTE: Both Follow your Heart and Pieced Row of Blocks use the same Part 1 file for the back of the composition book. right side of back-cover fabric 2. 3 5. Stitch the next : the placement lines. 8. Stitch the next : the ribbon placement stitch. ribbon placement stitch 6. 3 Place one of the side pocket pieces on top of the design, with the fold towards the center and touching the small placement lines. placement stitches 9. 5 Place a piece of ribbon about ½ above the book outline, centered on the line, right side down. Tape above the stitched box to hold in place. NOTE: Tuck the ribbon into the side pocket, so it will not be sewn into the seam. 7. placement stitches Stitch the next : the tack-down lines. 10. 4 11. Stitch the next : the book outline stitch. 14. Using a rotary cutter and ruler, cut exactly on the trim line (stitched in Direction Step 12). 12. Stitch the final stitch: the trim line Turn the back cover of the Noteable right side out and press with steam. Set aside Part 1 is now complete. Remove the project from the hoop and trim around the project leaving ¼ seam allowance. Part 2: The Front 16. Hoop stabilizer only, in the appropriate size hoop. 5 17. Stitch the first directly onto the stabilizer: the piecing template. 19 26. Place the back cover (from part 1) centered along the placement line, with front covers together (lining side up). Place as shown in diagram. 29. Flip the back cover to the left and to hold in place. center seam line 27. Stitch the next : the back-cover seam stitch, which sews the back cover to the front cover. 30. Place the lining piece of fabric on top of the design, right side down, covering the entire stitched area. Stitch the final : the finishing stitch, which sews the front cover lining in place. 20 32. Trim book cover approximately ¼ beyond the seam line and clip corners to reduce bulk. 35. Press with steam for a finished look. 33. Turn right side out, and flip the side pockets to the lining side. 36. Place composition book front and back covers inside of each of the side pockets. Trim ribbon to desired length. Heat seal or use Fray Check on the end of ribbon to prevent fraying. 34. Press the extra ¼ of fabric under.
