1 "The Margaret" Accessory Holder This piece was inspired by a truly fabulous lady. I have learned a lot from her over the years and am always amazed that there are still new things to learn every time we are together. She is the real reason that this design pack exists. It was her creativity that made the first prototype and from there all my other lady friends have added the ideas to their wish list. Requirements: This project requires an embroidery machine with a 5x7 minimum embroidery field. The compact size may look deceiving but this project has a zippered compartment in the front and a place to hold the travel size tissue pack on the opposite side. It would make a great gift for any lady or just a really neat accessory for yourself. It requires one hooping and has a monogram which can be substituted for your own design at the same step that our design sews. The finished size is 5 1/4 x 4 3/4. STEP: 1 Supplies Needed: Embroidery machine with 5x7 sewing field, 2 pieces of a stabilizer such as AquaFilm Badgemaster to fit hoop, 1 7" zipper, 1 piece coordinating fabric 7x3 1/2 folded to 7x1 3/4 right side out for upper zipper, 1 piece coordinating fabric 7x7 folded to 7x3 1/2 right side out for lower zipper, 2 piece coordinating fabric 7x5 folded to 7x2 1/2 right side for tissue sides, 2 pieces cutaway stabilizer 7x2 1/2 inserted between folded 7x5 fabric, 2 pieces coordinating fabric 7x5 right sides out for lining, 3/8 eyelet set (optional), 1" split ring (optional), 4x 1/4 grosgrain ribbon. STEP: 2 Getting Started: When you select this design on your machine, it will appear rotated 90 degrees to the right, with the top of the design to the right side of the embroidery frame. If you use a larger frame than is required it is possible to rotate the design 90 degrees to the left, making the top of the design to the top of the frame. The design will sew out in the same steps either direction; you may have to reorient the pictures in the tutorial. It is assumed that the embroidery hoop is attached to the machine on the left side of the hoop. This makes the upper part of the hoop the top of the design, and the lower end of the hoop the bottom of the design. This also makes the side of the hoop that is attached to the machine the outside left and the opposite side the inner right part of the hoop. If I have to rotate the design to fit the hoop, I rotate 90 degrees to the right, so that the top is to the inner side of the hoop and the bottom to the outer side. 2 STEP: 3 STEP: 4 Hoop AquaFilm Badgemaster. (Treat both pieces at 1 and hoop together). Sew out placement line for zipper. STEP: 5 Place zipper right side up, teeth over center line and finished edges evenly spaced to outline. Zipper should be zipped closed and zipper pull out of sewing line. I prefer to pull the zipper from left to right. Hold zipper in place with tape, placed at ends, out of sewing lines. Sew tack down stitch on upper zipper edge. STEP: 6 Place raw edges of folded 7" x 1 3/4" fabric even Sew tack down stitch. Sew finishing zig zag stitch. with finished zipper edge, folded edge of fabric will cover rest of zipper. 3 STEP: 7 STEP: 8 Fold fabric away from zipper. Finger press fabric next to zipper teeth. Sew finishing topstitch on zipper. STEP: 9 Lower half of zipper: Sew tack down for 2nd side of zipper (lower half of zipper). Place raw edges of folded 7x3 1/2 fabric even with finished edge of zipper, folded edge of fabric will cover rest of zipper. Sew tack down stitch. Sew finishing zig zag stitch. STEP: 10 Fold fabric away from zipper. Finger press fabric next to zipper teeth. Sew finishing topstitch on zipper. Open zipper approximately 2". Zipper pull should be well away from side seam line. 4 STEP: 11 STEP: 12 Sew placement line final construction. This sews out tick marks for lining up tissue sides. Sew tack down and placement stitch. STEP: 13 If monogram or design is desired sew it now. STEP: 14 Place 1st piece 7x2 1/2 fabric, with inserted cutaway stabilizer, over top half of area lining up on centered tick marks. Sew tack down stitch. Tick marks for placement. Place 2nd piece 7x2 1/2 fabric, with cutaway inserted, over lower half of area lining up on centered tick marks. Sew tack down stitch. 5 STEP: 15 STEP: 16 Place lining fabric, wrong sides together over all sewing lines. Sew tack down stitch. Sew finishing stitch. Remove from hoop. Trim to zig zag stitch. Remove excess stabilizer. Press. Open zipper all the way. STEP: 17 STEP: 18 Turn right side out. Press well. Attach eyelet to top left corner if desired. Attach split ring thru eyelet.
