spring is just around the corner here in Spring, Texas and we are looking toward to a long hot summer. Get your glass of southern sweet tea and your stitching project for an afternoon out of the heat. You don t have a project you want to work on? Well come and see us as we are here to help you find the perfect one. We just got back from the Nashville Market so the shop is full of new projects. Everything from gadgets, charts, fabric, and thread. Of course the new colors of threads are here for you to gaze upon, feel, and take home. 23rd Anniversary! Saturday, April 7 we will be celebrating the 23 rd anniversary of 3 Stitches. We originally opened up on April Fool s day and now We Keep You In Stitches Page 1 of 12

we look back to that exciting day. Come see some of the old pictures of when it all started. Share refreshments with us and receive a gift with purchase. There will be door prizes and much more. Fun for all from 10:00 AM 5:00 PM on that Saturday to thank each one of you for all your support throughout the years. Need help? us at 3stitches@3stitches.com or call us at We are always here for you. All you have to do is ask. Surround yourself with the best people rather than always looking for the best in people Tortellini Salad 1 (8 ounce) package cheese tortellini ½ red onion ½ green bell pepper 1 (4 ¼ ounce) can black olives 1 cup of cherry tomatoes 1 2 cup crumbled feta ¼ cup olive oil ¼ cup red wine vinegar Salt & pepper Cook the packaged tortellini in a pot of boiling water. They will be ready when they float in the water and are heated through. Move them to a colander to drain and set aside. Drain the black olives (chop if you prefer). Peel the onion, de-seed the pepper; and coarsely chop. Place vegetables and tortellini in a large bowl, add cherry tomatoes which have been sliced in half. Sprinkle desired amount of feta cheese and the olive oil and red wine vinegar over the vegetables and tortellini, and then toss it all together. We Keep You In Stitches Page 2 of 12

Add salt and pepper as desired. Enjoy the salad right away, warm, or save it for later and eat it cold. Stitching Tip: Flat-ornament finishing instructions Materials: Padded mounting board (heavy mat board and iron-on fusible fleece can be substituted). Fabric-marking pencil, straight pins, and sewing machine (optional). Use a ½ seam allowance. Measure desired distance (1/8 1 is typical) from stitching on all sides and use marking pencil to draw a line this distance from edge of design all around, staying on grain-line of fabric when possible. Do not cut fabric. Place ornament over a piece of backing fabric (right sides together) and pin layers together along edge of stitching. Sew around ornament along drawn line, leaving bottom of ornament open. Trim all layers to seam allowances of ¼. Trim corners to seam allowances of 1/8. Turn ornament to right side. Using ornament as a pattern, cut mounting board. ornament and sew opening closed. Insert mounting board into Attached trim, hanger, and other embellishments, using blind stitch and matching thread. 4 Saturday, April 21 starting at 7:00 PM. Sign up now! Bring a snack and plan on stitching the night away. Remember we are here to help you. All you have to do is ask. KNOWLEDGE! Knowledge means ease of stitching. The more we know about needlework, the more we know there is to learn. It is relaxing to join us for classes and events in the stitching world. Learning becomes fun when shared with others. Something you have in common with others - you stitch they stitch. In class, students ask questions and get answers. All of us learn together. Classes must be paid at the time of reservation. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified 48 hours prior to the date to receive store credit. Should you need a private class, call for an appointment. Private classes are priced according to supplies and length. If you have a question, just ask. Hardanger! Tuesday, April 10 and 24, May 8 and 22, and June 5 and 19 We Keep You In Stitches Page 4 of 12

7:00 PM 9:00 PM ($ $20 each month) There is so much to learn in a Hardanger class. A kloster block is to Hardanger what an x is to cross stitch. It is the foundation and from there everything is built. It is mathematically correct. This year s piece started in January but it is never too late to get started. The piece is being done on white linen with white cotton thread. It gives a delicate and clean appearance. Join us as we learn various steps in the process of making this delicate piece. Enjoy the company of fellow stitchers while learning heirloom needlework. The piece can be finished in a pillow, framing, or perhaps displayed on a table. Both #8 and #12 Perle cotton threads were used to make this beautiful Hardanger piece. Learn why it is always so important to know where the tip of the scissors are located. Sampler Class! Thursday, April 12, May 10, and June 14 7:00 PM 9:00 PM ($155) This is a 12 x 14 small sampler but don t let the size fool you. It is very detailed and very delicate stitched on 32 Ct. French Roast from R & R. Various stitches are involved. The Single Squared Herringbone, Squared Herringbone, Satin Stitch, Eyelet Stitches, Rhoades Stitch, and Milanese Stitch just to mention a few. A scatter of beads and gold thread gives this piece sparkle where needed. Fiber Club! Tuesday, April 17, May 15, and June 12 7:00 PM 9:00 PM OR Thursday, April 19, May 17, and June 14 2:00 PM 4:00 PM ($ $20) There is a day class and an evening Fiber Club class. We will be making a stand up when the project is complete using as many threads as possible. We Keep You In Stitches Page 5 of 12

stitched with cross stich over 1. There is a scattering of cross stitches over one on a flower stalk. Backstitch has been used to outline the two ladies eyebrows and lips. This sampler contains some 72,000 stitches. Hannah Gaskell 1823 has a statement about all stitches begin the same way by sticking the needle first in then out of the fabric. The only difference between one type of stitch and the other is where you put that needle and how you manipulate the thread. Amy Cann 1831 is full of beautiful green thread. The piece was finished in April, The sampler is stitched in cross stitch over 1 and 2 threads, satin stitch, four sided stitch, double running stitch and Algerian eyelets. We have lovely note cards with pictures of the beautiful samplers on the front and blank inside to write a sweet message to someone. Glendon Place has Hungarian Folk Art No. 1 history of Hungarian embroidery goes back thousands of years. Early in its history, Hungarian weaving and embroidery was primarily a male profession. However, it was soon joined by women creating beautiful textiles for their clothing and their homes. Although the practice of this lovely art is declining, the traditional motifs that have bloomed throughout all these years continue to remain an important expression of the Hungarian culture. A Haunting Household with the words, A witch and her little monsters live here with one handsome devil. Stand for Freedom is limited edition with complete fit. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary from a vintage nursery rhyme collection - #4 with a little girl watering flowers. Spook Town Square has started with the Part 1 of 4 of the Halloween series. This is the middle block to start the project and will contain different blocks around the outside. Come and get you project started with the chart and fabric. Broderie World has America which is full of American symbols. There is the flag, sparklers, barn, 4 th of July, and so much more. The stitch count is 187 x 242 making it a nice size piece and stitched with DMC threads, Sea Window, Sea Window 2 and Sea Window 3 all are individual but fit together if you We Keep You In Stitches Page 7 of 12

like. The action water scenes. Pochette Giacinti is a needle roll and embellished with a sheep button with a heart. Erica Michaels has Sweet Freedom Berry from the silk berry collection. This would be a quick project that is trimmed with Dames of the Needle pom pom trim. Seasonal Pincushions has a pillow for each season throughout the year.
